Chapter 17 - "Titus can you help me with a favor?"

Back to where Azrael and Soren were…

"Sorin, umm, give me a minute while I make a call. Remain here for a bit, alright?" It had been two days since Azrael had arrived in the village and in that time had not only been playing with Sorin but had gained their trust.

But in the hours he spent listening to Sorin, he learned that the life he had experienced was more bearable than what Sorin went through, yet Sorin's smiles are brighter with each passing day. "*Where did my smiles disappear?*" he thought to himself.

"Ring ring!" Azrael picked up his Holoinv and answered. "Hey Titus, how are you?" Azrael was speaking to the receptionist he met at the adventurers guild. "Hey, I am doing great, happy you called me; what about you, Azrael?"

"I am happy, I just… I had a bit of a thing happen to me, that's all" his voice softened. "But anyway, I wanted to ask you something for a friend that I met." he changed the volume of his voice and sounded a bit more elated.

"Oh really? Who is this new friend of yours? Is there something you wish to ask me?" Titus was now interested in who had befriended Azrael.

"Well, his name is Sorin, and he is from the demon race; his parents were killed because one was a doctor and the other was an alchemist. Well, from what I have heard and seen, they never had any ill intentions, but they were still killed. And Sorin wants to learn how to do Alchemy and be a doctor. I was wondering if I could ask if there is any way for you to help, please!!!" his words are sincere.

"Well, his demon villagers are all second of demons. It's rare to see demons become doctors or alchemists, yet your friend wishes to do both because of his parents?" smiling, he let out a sigh.

"It's possible, and since it's you asking, I mean, why not. But why should I take him? It takes resources to help people learn alchemy and medicine. Not just that he wishes to do both? Many find it difficult to even excel at one field, yet you are saying your friend the demon wishes to do both?" not knowing whether to say yes or no ponders on this. He only just met Azrael, and this boy is already calling in a fav, not for himself but someone he just met.

"I know, I know. But please, Titus I believe he will be able to do some great things. He said he wants to be strong like his parents and that he wants to be someone I can trust. I have been training with him, and he is determined. Really determined, so please ...." Azrael had a little desperation in his voice.

"Fine, just… fine. But I will test his aptitude first, and if I think it is not good, I will just train him in regard to swordsmanship. You said he wants to be someone you can trust and depend on? Do you really believe that?" The question raised is neither rude nor invalid.

"Yes, I believe every word…." Azrael said sternly.

Titus taking a moment to review Azrael's request, had made his decision, "Look at Azrael, I know he's your friend, and you trust him, but I am going to have to test him myself, and if he fails, we will be in our care but nothing else. I won't let him get training; I won't get people to teach him anything. Be will only give him the necessary things to live." Altho Titus seemed to care about Azrael, the guild's resources can only be given to those worthy to receive them.

"Alright!!" Azrael's straight face changed into a more excited and happy expression.

Titus smiled on the other side of the holoinv, "Well, I got to get back to work, so how about you let me know when I should come around?"

"Well, Can you come in 4 - 5 days because that's when we start the move again?" Azrael was excited about the new friend Sorin.

Titus, thinking, had then replied, "Well ya, just sit tight, will try to be there before you leave. Can't wait to see you soon since you've been out on the field, so you must change somewhat."

"Thank you! An see you soon, okay. Bye!" Azrael ended the transmission call with Titus and made his way back to where Sorin was.

Sorin had already started practicing without Azrael, swinging his sword up and down with vigor. "Hey, move your arms more in unison with it; otherwise, it will help make the swing stronger, but don't forget to control every swing." Azrael had come to interrupt Sorin in a constructive way.

Sorin smiled and did as Azrael told him. The motion became smoother and less effort was needed to create the same amount of power.

"Sorin, why don't you show me some of your alchemy and medical or doctor things you can do?"Azrael probed Sorin.

Sorin was skeptical, "*Will anything I show him be impressive? He must have seen a lot, or have seen kids who way more talented*", he was unsure of himself but led Azrael with his home.

"Well, this is my house; I am not sure if I can show you anything interesting." Sorin started preparing his equipment to show Azrael what he could do.

Azrael is in the corner twisting his head to look around the house, waiting for Sorin to begin. "So, what are you going to show me? To do alchemy or medicine, don't you need magic or something like that?" Azrael realized that late.

"Yes, but there are other types of alchemy and medical methods that do not need magic; the only problem is that it's not very useful and very difficult to do" Sorin started to tune out his anxious thoughts and feeling and focus on the Alchemy and medicine.

A few moments passed, and everything had been set up. "I am going to start!" Sorin exclaimed. He began with medicine first, grinding leaves, throwing in other ingredients, and heating up water to put them in.

Working fast, he tried to waste as little time as possible.

The aromas from the herbs had started to fill the house; they were calming and had a sweet scent to them. Azrael was intrigued by the smell and waited anxiously to see what Sorin made.

Just as Azrael couldn't hold in his curiosity, Sorin shouted, "Done! Azrael, drink this okay and tell me what you think of it!" handing Azrael a small bowl with the lovely smelling liquid. Azrael, not hesitating, threw everything into his mouth.

He waited a few seconds, then his muscles started to feel loose, and any strain on his body had been lifted. He was at a loss for words. His mouth was slightly open, and his body felt amazing, better than any time in the past 2 months.

"Wow, what is this? It was amazing; my body felt loose. My muscles feel so good!" Azrael got up and was moving his arms, legs, shoulders, neck, and feet. "What else do you got?"

Sorin reached out to the next ingredients to proceed with the next task of making a pill. Azrael sat and watched as herbs were being put into a furnace to be burned and molded. The time passed by was slow. Unexpected to Azrael the process of Alchemy was mentally tiring.

"I am almost done, so don't worry!" Sorin then using the furnace which was soon revealed to be an artifact that even no awakened could use to refine low alchemy pills. The fire burned harder, the aroma different from the medicine entered the room.

The smell of fire and heat started to subside, it was time to take the pill out. The pill's aroma was different from what had been coming out of the furnace at first. The smell was enriching, and every wif of the pill fragrance made Azrael wander even more. "What is this pill? What will it do to me if I eat it?"

About to give Azrael the pill he made, Sorin heard a knock on the door, and there stood the kids who first bullied Sorin. They tried to confront Azrael this time around and get payback.

"The last time you hit us was because of luck. We see that you are not blind, and this time I will show you that we are stronger."The bully that had been in charge spoke in Azrael's face. Azrael didn't mind. He was more than confident in his abilities, compared to fighting demon beast and these kids were nothing.

"*Man, this is not good. I have to stop them before someone gets seriously hurt, Ummm what do I say?*" Sorin trying to stop the commotion and trying to save the very bullies from getting into a fight with the wrong kid.

"*Azrael is not some random kid, no Azrael is just…..*'' Sorin did not have a word in his vocabulary to describe Azrael.
