Everyone knows what's The Barren Moor is. This is kind of a famous pub around this area, because this is the only place where people can get wasted, have prostitution, do drugs and stuffs without getting arrested, means everything is legal as long as it is committed in this place. And it is situated in the Quinue alley. The whole alley is dark and disturbing.
My mother started to work here when I was very young. She couldn't complete her high school because of her pregnancy and because of her poor educational background, she didn't receive many suitable jobs. She had to go through a lot, everyone was against her premarital sex and all. Even her parents were against her. At some point, she had to flee away from that place with my father and got here after roaming for a while. My father also couldn't complete his studies and had to do minor jobs like waiter, cobbler, sometimes janitor. After I was born, mom had to do a job because of me. She ended up working at the Moor as a server with my father, who also took a job there as an accountant because of mom. Since that place has bad reputation, no one believes me when I say 'she's only a server', also... my mother is really very pretty.
"What? R-Really? I-I'm so sorr-"
"It's not what you're thinking! She's just a server." - I said, as I looked down at my hand, fidgeting my fingers. She won't believe me either, like everyone else...
"No no no, I didn't mean it like that either. I was just shocked. I won't tell anyone."
"Thanks for that..."
"Why are you upsetting?? I know It's hard for them to work somewhere like that, too. They are trying their best to provide you. I should be the one feeling bad for the way I reacted." - Mira said as she gave me a warm beam. I looked up at her and retuned a cosier one before adding.
"Anyway, I can't go there, anywhere near... My mom forbade me. Sorry, I may not be able to join you." - I said, getting ready to go home.
"Wait, let's wait and see. If we can't go there, we'll have to go somewhere else. We are the one messed up without mentioning where we were going. We'll find another way."
"What's going on here?" - Asked Luna. We didn't even realize when she got here.
"Well..."
Mira told everything to Luna, and she took a quick glance at me, she stood there with a puzzled look. I'm not sure what she's thinking.
"How about the Spring Roll café, then? I heard they opened a small karaoke bar inside. Don't know the price and stuffs, though."
Spring Roll café is right behind the school. I don't think I'd have any problem with this place, so I agreed to go there. It took us about a few minutes to get there. The place looked lavish and glittery everywhere, it's to attract crows like us high school students, coz we love anything that shines. This looked rather pricey. Despite thinking that, We went inside. We scanned through the menu and posters. It's not that pricey as it seems.
"How much for an hour?" - Luna asked, confidently.
"10, but right now all three rooms are full. You'd have to wait, or you can join them. I think I saw a few wearing your school's uniform."
"Oh, we can do that! Let's see, who are they?"
"It's... Madison. Only one person paid for the rest, and it says 3 hours."
"Great! We know who it is. Would you mind telling us which room."
"Sure, R-302. Are you going to pay now or after?"
"After please." - Luna said before that women wrote down our names, phone number and due. We went to 3rd floor and searched for the number 302, and we found it to be right around the corner. Luna knocked on the door, but no response came.
"They are having we too much fun, I suppose." - said Luna with a giggle. She knocked a few more times when a familiar face opened the door. It was Jace...
"Luna! Nice to see you." - He said in a gleeful tone. He looked happy, an unknown spark upon his face.
"Nice to meet you, too. All the rooms are full, so... Can we join?" - Luna said with her usual 'poker but not rude' face.
"Seriously, you are asking this!? Come on inside." - He said before landing his eyes on me and Mira.
"Oh, Hannah! You're here too..."
'Wait, why did he sound like that, as if not that interested... gosh, I feel defeated'
"Yeah..."
"Great! Come inside."
We got inside after Luna, and I somehow don't feel any more excited about coming here. I thought it was going to be us girls only, and also my crush didn't seem happy about me coming here, and I found that too.
"You?" - I heard someone in a low undertone, almost too hard to hear. I looked to my right and frozen...
