Chapter 16 - Chapter-16

The same translucent squared, vertical base appeared in front of us with the keyboard, meant to type a password which was definitely not in our aptitude.

"What could possibly he use as a password?"I inquired rhetorically, after all nobody could really know the password of an apparition?

"And why didn't Charlotte show me these type of library? It' s so cool!" Clay said, causing him to receive glares from us for his idiocy at a time like that.

"I saw a photo frame of Casper wi-with another adolescent. And that looks similiar to_"

"To Lucas, you say?"

"I-I don't know. But -but we need to do it quick! He-He's coming!" I yelled, directing at Lucas leering at us. He was sluggishly aiming for the attack towards us and an exasperated Austin banged on the keyboard and promptly we heard a voice, "Say the name and get the gain."

"Dude, its technology is far away from outmoded. It's a paranormal technology, duh. It has microphone."

"Whatever it is, we just need to say the word, the name, the thing...the whatsoever!"

Fear gripped each of our throats as his gruesome form snarled and approached us.

"The deuce? What is the password? Spirits? Sugar Ghost? Venomous Cookies? Murderous Love? Daredevil? Superman...?" Clay trailed off until Joey interrupted, "Superman? Seriously?"

"Tsk, tsk. Kids stayeth kids." Lucas uttered, proceeding towards us but promptly he raised his hand , twisting it towards right. His action left us in a maze but when we heard Travis grunting an coughing, we got the idea. Ghosts could not really kill , but can make us kill ourselves.

Travis's body began to float as if being held up by a invisible hand. His hands ene rapped his own neck as to kill himself. My heart started pounding at a increasingly rapid pace at imagining what more worse could that get?

"Oh god! Trav?! You pillock smellfungus! I'm going to tear you limb from limb, cause you are such a perturbing guinea pig, Lucas! Leave him alone!" Joey grunted , ferociously stomping her feet.

Before Travis could reach his demise , I kept pondering of what could possibly help us that time. Or someone.

"Now where is our spirits? Don't tell me it's 7!" I inquired, tremendously panicking, "CASPER HELP!" I screeched squinting my eyes, unable to see Travis's affliction; the same female from the password box exclaimed, "Password accepted, entry consented."

The enormous door opened itself and Lucas, being flabbergasted loosened his hand and Travis got released. Wihtout any further ado, we hurried into the room crammed with bookshelves in a dispersed manner, which was much easier for us to hide. Also, as the library was colossal enough with the bookshelves, we were able to wander around, as to delay our doom. The others got separated but seemed to conceal themselves.

"The password's Casper?" Austin questioned, but even I didn't know how the password was Casper. I left the question without answer and as we perceived his voice coming closer, I held onto the hand of the person next to me on impulse and ran futher away, only to realized that he was Austin. Damn me.

"Oh now even my hand attracts you sweetheart." He cackled silently whilst I tugged him along and whined, "And still in this type of state of affairs, all you can think of is your charm." I left his hand instantly and gaping at him, I moved backwards just when my feet slipped the ground and was going to plummet down to the hole ; except if he did not seized my hand, towing my body towards him and on the floor. Thump!

I fell right onto his chest and a certain aura surrounded me with a similar tingling sensation. I lifted my head to face his eyes where deep intensity of ocean-blue eyes caught my attention- and sight. Maybe as if there was more to his conceited persona.

"Thee knoweth not how much easi'r thee madeth by coming in this edifying library. Didst thee?" He muttered from a distance and I separated myself from the intimacy. To behave as if nothing happened, I turned back to see the hole's edge which made me trip. And it didn't obviously appear as a normal one.

It looked like someone dug through the floor to reach a concealed underground in bottom, but that was not much vital compared to our safety. Without thinking, I jumped down the hole and came across a wide scope of a dark room, with spiderwebs in all corners. From up, Austin hopped down but his jump only made it worse, making a loud noise as he fall on his face.

"You can't even fall properly, can you?"

"You can't even show off your atitude properly, can you?"

"I do, only to those who deserve it." I whisper protested back, but the medievel language of Lucas shook my spine, "Wh're thou art, cherub- I'm coming."

I widened my eyes and quickly gesticulated for Austin to follow my lead as I went through the shadows to god knows where.

Almost 10 minutes gone we kept wandering around the place in a straight direction but found nothing , except we saw two paths- among which some sort of light was coming through from on of the path.

"Which one do we go through?" I asked his opinion.

"How do I know? But we should hurry , otherwise the shakespearean pet ghost is gonna eat us alive."

"You could've just simply mentioned left or right. Idiot." Grudgingly, I decided to go through the luminous one, hoping for some light in that viscous dark but it led to somewhere more valuable.

Our eyes shone with the reflection of the burnished artifacts kept on each piece of stone just like being displayed in a medievel themed museum. Out of mere curiousity, we forwarded towards the tools to find its identity. In a foreign language, there was written papers stuck to each of the stone under the sharp objects.

"I think these are some sort of hidden weapons." he uttered suddenly, wandering around and looking at the written manuscipts

"How do you know?"

"The way the instructions are written with the set of words, it does seem like it."

"How can you read 'em?"

His eyes rose upon in a widened state; there was some concealed emotion with unfilial secrets, but I shouldn't care, right?

However, as I waited for his answer, the voice I never would want to hear muttered with a chuckle, "Getting too much inquisituve, dram rascals? But then again, th're is nowh're thee can wend, lovebirds."

I scowled, "First, I hate him. Second, can't you speak in modern english?"

" Most wondrous obs'rvation, missy. But doest yond coequal matt'r anon?"

With a haughty smirk, he didn't waste a milisecond to position for our doom. And it didn't seem like we have anyone or any spirit to lend a hand.

Lend a hand? Instinctly, I turned around to see the entities that were referred as weapons. Since it obviously didn't look regular, it might had been used to not kill, but at least hurt paranormal things like that?

As close to our adverse tragedy, I grabbed the most picturesque scalpel which had a glossy marquise at the handle; just like it was meant for me.

"Just another move and I'll groove." I said, but it felt a bit cool to say those words. Nevertheless, I could notice him flinch in dread but not to sound obvious , he forced a snort saying, "Fie, thee thi-think yond i-is going to did hurt me? Well bef're yond, alloweth me seeth how much thou art gonna receiveth affliction."

Just like he mentioned, after an abrupt nimbus around him he swung his arm with several weapons appearing in his hand, meant to slay us. Even though, I had a weapon to fight with, fear fluttered in my stomach.

He started shooting those ninjastar-like weapons toward us and just like me, Austin took a shield positioned on the rock , moreover defending himself from the assault. As for me, All I could do was hold the scalpel in front of my face, anticipating somehow an angel to come down to aid me.

Or maybe an angel-thing.

Promptly, an armor enwrapped around my body and those little weapons didn't wound me. And I realized that it occured only when I pressed the push button thingy on the scalpel.

"So thee bethink thou art not going to receiveth did hurt? Well art sure about thy friend?"

"Wha-what do you mean?"

Pointed away from me, he hit Austin with his shooting power, causing his shield to fall down and leaving him completely bare-handed. Oh shoot.

"Anon the showeth hast begun."

He swung his hand upward looking forward to fling his stiletto knife towards Austin. Now intense terror reared up within me and cautiousness crashed through my psyche. Even though I couldn't abide guys like Austin, but he was no more than a human. I took a last glance at the weapon in my hand and looked at Austin.

It all went in the slow motion. I ran with all my might and pushed him, causing the stiletto strike me right through my chest. But with whatever strength I had before plummeting towards the ground, I hurled my scalpel towards him, hitting him right.

"Thee wonneth't receiveth hence from this, those gents shall cometh!" Those were the last words he was able to verbalize before turning into ashes.

My head thumped on the ground, and I heard Austin's voice, "Rebecca damnit! Why? Why did you even have to do this? WHY DID YOU HURT YOURSE- Oh god, you're bleeding! No, no, what do I do?!"

Prior to my unconsciousness, I perceived Austin taking me on his arms and sprinting towards the starting point. My eyes drifted to darkness for a while and my eyelids lifted to see Casper's face floating into tension.

"Why do you have to do all this stupidity? Does these information- your curiousity matter more than your life? You-" While he blabbered some more words, I chuckled when I saw tears shine in his eyes. With trembled fingers, I wiped his tears and moved my head to see my other 4 crime partners, who were looking at me sympathetically.

Out of the blue, my chest began to hurt like hell. It was as if my lungs were literally being torn out and a throbbing ache began to lay out on my brain. Prickles of pain proliferated throughout my body and I didn't feel like living in this world anymore.

"We-We need to go to-to Organa! Sh-she can assist in taking the Marahuyo Blade out of your heart."

"Gana who?" Clay asked.

"Organa, our most trusted and wise advisor as well as the governess of spirits. Bu-but I am unaware of her location."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY UNAWARE? My best friend is literally and probably dying and we don't have anything to do?! "Clay grumbled before turning his head backwards, "Charcoal, don't you know about Rogana?"

"It's Organa , I guess." I muttered before my eyelids dropped down , still able to sense the pain within me.

"No, no. Reccy! Please keep you-your eyes o-open! I- at least tell me if you know anything abo-about your grandma!"

I could still hear him utter some dispersed words but I only comprehended the part where he mentioned grandma. Grandma? I didn't seem to have time to think the maze of it , so I verbalized the possible words in prior to unconsciousness, "Grandma...New Ca-Castle...Corner street, 4...by ..."

A hot liquid moved past my throat , to the intestine and soon enough, I regained consciousness. My vision was blurred at the sight of an elderly woman and I rubbed my eyes for clearer view, but what came into prospect was simply unexpected and delightful.

"Grandma? Wha-what- you- am I dead? Placed before hell?"

"No little lamb. You are just lying in my bed. Drinking my elite tea."

"Bu-but you were-"

"Dead? Nah uh. As fresh as a buttercup."

"But isn't buttercup a powerpuff girl?" I heard Clay's voice at a distance and I decided to sat up. Until the identical pain blossomed along my chest. I let out a gasp from the agony and looked down to discern a frightful, open wound with a heap of dry blood smeared on my chest with a shard stuck to my heart. Surprises were surrounding me but I couldn't think of any of those except the physical pain.

"Why ain't I dead? Even a normal blade would kill me way before now."

"That is why. Darling, I don't know how to say this but," she paused but I kept listening as the pain descreased from it's usual symphony, "Just as you meant, it is not a normal blade. So the effect is ought to differ. It is the Marahuyo Blade, which is enchanted. You may feel the throbbing pain but you will not die because it's toxic poison will give a mental change, not physical. The shard in your heart will dissipate, as well as your mudita. You will discover undiscovered strength and energy popping in your veins. And must I say, anonymous powers will emerge, which has to be wielded very carefully, otherwise- otherwise you wouldn't want to know how perilous the situation will turn to. A-And most importantly, about the mental alteration- evil will be invoked upon you, my darling- which could only be healed by an emotional breakdown, and that- would be very difficult, very hard for you closed ones that they would hardly come close to you. Little lamb, I would try my best. But then again, it depends. Depends on everything."
