Eden charged at Vadon, the air around her flickering as she moved. She was emitting the burning energy from her, and I could see it clearly as if it were a layer around her body.
Vadon blocked all her attacks effortlessly, and he also had the time to flash a perfect grin at Vanola, who closed her eyes for a split second before throwing a dark blade she pulled out of her abilities at him.
It cut him right through his neck and beheaded him in a second.
I gasped, as I saw Vadon's head touch the floor, bile immediately rising up my stomach.
"He's not dead." Vanola informed, loudly, at everyone but particularly at me. She spoke hurriedly and as swiftly as she could. "This is to buy time. Judah is not dead either, so do everything you can to help him."
I stumbled back on my feet, bewildered at the sight.
He wasn't dead?
He was just beheaded at my sight. He was turned to two pieces, and she told us he isn't dead?
Right, if it was this easy, the nobles would have not been dead.
"Master Enoch!" Eden called out. "Where is he?"
Vadon's body turned to dust, and I couldn't believe my eyes.
"Wallace?" I heard Jonan look up and around. "Wallace!" He screamed over his lungs.
"Where's Wallace?"
My eyes desperately searched for the said people, heart beating as loud and fast as it possibly could. I held my chest with one of my hands, trying to calm myself down but to no avail.
"Wallace!" I yelled out, lips trembling.
This was all too quick and sudden. I couldn't comprehend with it.
"Quinn, quick." Vanola pushed me down onto my knees. "Open your abilities. Surround yourself with void." She picked up my father's sword and threw it in front of me. I couldn't catch it, I didn't even try.
"Huh?" I looked down at the weapon.
"And protect yourself."
"Wallace!" Jonan continued calling for him, as he stood up and let Eden use her healing energy to try and save Judah.
What if Wallace was captured already? But he was a half noble, so that meant Vadon had no interest in him, right?
Something clicked inside me.
No one said that.
No one said he was only going for the nobles and would stop once all the nobles were dead.
My mouth went dry.
"Looking for him?"
Vadon appeared back on the roof, making heads turn up all together. He smiled, as another figure walked out from behind him.
He looked oddly familiar.
Nah, actually, I knew who that was.
I definitely knew.
I shared a quick glance with Jonan, as he slowly took a step back.
"Wallace?" I whispered to myself.
Vanola grunted, her crown showing up in no more than a second.
Was Wallace taken as a hostage? Fuck, fuck, fuck! How should I get him out of there, out of Vadon's grasp?
He was way out of my reach.
"The old man inside was peacefully put to sleep." Vadon said, his voice oozing with venom in it. "He's not dead, but he'll remain unconscious for a while. He let his guard down, afterall."
Through the corners of my eyes, I watched Eden still fighting to keep Judah alive.
Jonan looked enraged, and nonetheless ready to fight Vadon to death. Except, it wouldn't probably end well of they did right now.
Vanola moved an inch of her fingers, enough to get my attention, and gave me a small nod which almost went unnoticed. I took a deep, shaky breath, looking down at the ground.
I had to do this.
Vadon was in front of me, I had to be the one to kill him. I had to defeat him.
A hand on my neck, a body in front of me emitting tremendous amount of aura and energy, pulled me up back on my feet.
He was faster than a blinm of an eye.
"You're a suspicious one." Vadon spat at my face.
"Let go!" My hands flew up to take a hold of his wrist and try to pry him away from me. "Let the fuck go!"
"Your business is with us!" Vanola hissed at Vadon, another blade appearing in her hands, ready to strike. "He's a half noble, let him go."
"But," He took a big sniff in the air. "He smells like Spirits. His weapon reeks of spiritual energy."
Wallace landed perfectly on the ground from the roof, eyes narrowed and trained at Vadon.
"You-" Jonan snarled, his eyes burning red.
"Solidified barrier." Vadon muttered, and a thick see through barrier, almost as if a wall engulfed us in from the four sides, leaving me stunned at his move.
Even Vanola was left out of it, and all I could do was just stare.
I was trapped in here with Vadon, as he dropped his smile.
"Who are you?" He asked me, bringing me closer to his face.
I struggled to breathe, as he stared at me.
"I don't have to answer you." I choked out the words, making him grit his teeth.
I could see Jonan and Vanola repeatedly charging at the barrier, while Wallace stood and just watched. I felt suffocated.
"Why do you have this sword?" He asked, stepping on the weapon and crushing it underneath his foot.
"What is it to you?"
Vadon pushed me onto the ground, drawing a small dagger out of nowhere and flipping it around in his hand. He directed it towards me, and briskly stabbed it into my thigh.
For a second, I saw a spark in front of my eyes, and I saw a flash of red in front of my eyes, before I could get my voice out and cry
I writhed, as he held the dagger in place and pulled it out.
"Why do you have this?" He asked again, but all I could do was try to reach out for my thigh and scream in a twisted manner.
"Stop." I sobbed. "S-st.. st.."
"How about you just tell me, and I leave you alone?"
I panted heavily, looking at his face. It was sickening.
I wanted to throw up.
"I don't.." the pain was spreading all throughout my body, just like the blood never stopped spilling. "I don't know."
The barrier shattered.
I flinched, as I turned to look, Vadon's sight following mine.
It was three against one out there. And that was when I realised, Judah might have survived, but I still lost someone among us.
Wallace.
