"Are you listening?" This guy who had dragged me out of the basement started grumbling under his breath as he waved his hand in front of my face. "Did you hear what I said, brainless?"
"Huh?" I blinked.
"I said, you're joining us now."
I didn't realise we were already here on the training ground and I could see four other behind this guy. They all looked scary, for sure.
"Oh, yeah, I'm very sorry, I zoned out-"
"Can you not be that bothersome?" He rolled his eyes.
"I'm very sorry-" I looked down, my nerves catching up to me. I couldn't deal with all these people looking at me, no wait, they were glaring at me.
"Wallace of the Necos clan." He sighed in annoyance, cutting me off for the.. I don't know how many times now. "And these are the noble survivors. Everyone else is dead."
I flinched. "All of them are nobles?"
"Yes. And I am a half like you." He jammed his thumb to his chest. He looked like he probably worked out everyday to gain all these muscles.
I turned to the others warily. "Hello," I gulped. They didn't look friendly at all. "I'm Quinn."
"We heard." Wallace's lips twitched. "You created a ruckus by joining those low-lives and we had to search for you." I nodded at his words in understanding.
"I'm sorry-"
"Shut up already." He could pop a nerve right this instant. "These nobles think high and mighty of themselves and probably won't talk to us so let me introduce them to you."
"Hey, not everyone is that way." Someone stepped forward, taking their royal hood off. "Plus, we've met before, right, Quinn? I'm Judah of Scaldris Clan."
Oh right, shit, I forgot those nobles from earlier were going to be here.
"I'm Quinn." I kept my head low. They were royals, afterall.
He offered a small smile. "And these are my hot headed cousins, Ronan and Eden." He pointed out to each of them. So the one who showed us the noble seal on their wrist was Ronan, who also saved us in the forest. And Eden.. she really needed to stop throwing daggers at me.
Fricking terrifying, both of them.
All three of them had none of the looks in common. While Judah had silver blond hair, Eden and Ronan had aubrey.
"I'm Vanola of the Necos clan."
I looked at the fourth present person on the ground, a girl who had a royal robe on, dark hair and a sharp edge to her voice. Vanola, was her name.
"I am Quinn from Mora-"
"We know!"
I took a step back.
Yeah what the heck was wrong with me? But introducing myself to each one of them was a gesture of politeness. I was just trying to be polite.
I offered a nervous smile.
"He's here." Wallace's eyes widened.
They all got into a position, standing next to each other horizontally in attention. Wallace gestured me to join them, pure annoyance bubbling out of him. Guess he really was short tempered.
An old man with gray hair and a young man in his mid forties walked onto the ground, both wearing the royal robe.
"Is he Master Abel?" I whispered to Wallace, pointing to the old man.
His eyes narrowed. "Shut up."
"I see you were able to find Saymour." The old man chuckled. He was drowning in his white beard but I thought it was best to just push that thought out of my head.
"Yes." Wallace nodded. "He was in one of the basements."
"I'm very sorry." I licked my lips nervously. How many times have I apologized by now? I was getting sick of myself too. These nobles were sure spreading their dominance which only made me weak. Ha ha good luck Quinn.
"I'm Master Abel." The old man introduced himself. "And I will be helping you with training until the next Vadon attack. Seems to me, Vadon has retreated right now to recover from his previous battle. But it's no time to rest, he will be back."
I could hear my heart beat in my chest, it was loud and made me want to puke while listening to Master Abel talk about the battle.
"We are nobles from Scaldris Clan and Necos. We're here for your aid." Judah spoke, refering to his cousins and Vanola. The other just looked glad to have Judah be their voice.
Master Abel's eyebrows raised in a split second. He looked like he was surprised. "I'm very sorry to put you through this, my poor children." He watched their heads lower in loss. "But I won't let you fight."
"What?" Eden had a reflexive reaction as she stepped forward, though she didn't look like it, she continued. "We walked all the way from Scaldris to Oldwest. We are here to fight."
Master Abel smiled, eyes crinkling. "You've been through enough. You need to be safe, you're the future of these four kingdoms."
Something sounded off.
Did that mean.. If the four nobles weren't going to fight, then I and Wallace were the only ones gonna have to face Vadon?
Both being.. half nobles?
