"I know. My sister is probably on her way to break my nose for that, but I had people watching my family. I had security around them at all times. However, I knew how they were doing, miss beautiful; I wasn't even sure she had healed from the internal bleeding.
She is anemic, and I would hate to have the love of my life dying on me." Alex hated giving anyone explanations, and now he felt like he was being interviewed for a crime. It took everything in him not to snap at them.
He kept looking at his watch in the hope that the darn thing would be over.. he would send them away after 4 pm. he had given them enough for them to create conspiracy theories with, so he would just wait and watch what they had come up with.
They were all looking at Lia now. What was the secretary doing with the boss? Did she lure him into her trap? But then Alexander Garner was never the kind of man to be lured easily into a relationship; that could only mean he cared for her, right? Hopefully so.
"what about her parents. You said you went to Norilsk with her"
"she is an orphan, and I think that's clear enough. No more questions about her family," Alex said with a tone of finality. Lia had always been sensitive about her past and her parents. Each time Alex asked about them, she would change the topic.
She never wanted to let him in. she didn't want him to see her as just some random girl with family issues that could be traced to his best friend and the almanac. She could handle herself, even though she wasn't really sure if she was trying to convince herself or the people who were looking at her like she was some lone ranger.
She had five siblings that already made it clear that she had a whole army behind her. She was safe; she would always be safe, not because she could handle herself or because she was Alex's girlfriend.
She would always be safe because she had five crazy-ass siblings who always pointed Gus at each other like playing tag.
"Anyone in your place could have left her and come back home…why didn't you…I'm asking this respectfully because you are a rich person and you can get anyone you want, why go for your secretary?" a reporter asked.
Were they stupid or blind because anyone who was smart and with eyes could see that he was willing to drop everything for her? She was his world, and he would turn the world upside down if anyone tried to pull a fast one on him again.
No one was going to mess them up again.
No one.
"When you find the woman you love or the man you love, you will understand that no matter what happens, the heart will always get what it wants…ad she is not my secretary. She is my girlfriend. My woman. Mine."
The conviction in his voice was enough for the reporters who didn't care that the weather was slowly changing. Hey had been here for hours trying to get answers, and even though they were getting them, some were bothered.
It almost felt like they were intruding, but if they didn't, then they wouldn't have jobs, and their industry always had people knocking. Their replacements would come even before they cleared out their desks.
"do you plan on going back to the company?" another question that had been on the tongues of most. Garner stats was a big company, and Alexander played a big role in making it what it was now.
He had put standards that retained both employees and clients. His system was still in use even though his psychotic sister had already taken over. Despite studying the data about the company over the years he wasn't there, Alex had decided to take a break for a moment.
His life would not go back to what it was; well, at least he didn't have to worry about the company since his sister was doing a good job there.
"my sister is doing excellent work at the company…I don't need to be there. One of us is enough; if anything, we are one family."
"so what are your plans now that you have come back? Aren't you afraid of the people who tried to kill you?"
"if they want to fight me, they should come and face me. And I wasn't in hiding, I needed to ensure the love of my life was doing okay, and the winter at Norilsk kept us from coming back for a while, but we're here now," Alex said, already bored with the direction the interviews were taking.
He wanted to wrap up and get back to the cuddling sessions with his woman. Well, that was a nice and well-crafted plan, but the explosive Garner fighting the guard and dressed like an isekai was just about to kick the plan to hell.
"Alexander Garner…care to explain why the fuck I haven't heard from you in two fucking years, baby brother…or did you forget there is something called family and I so fucking happened to be your fucking elder sister and your twin?!
Tell me, brother, where in all fucks have you been?" yup, Alex was fucked, and this time, the media was going to witness his ass getting whipped by his sister.
Why had he even decided on a press conference before going home? This was all a bad idea. He was already regretting it, but Lia was amused. It was almost like he wanted to summon carl so they could laugh their hearts out.
The only carl could find such a situation funny, and that's why Lia preferred tagging along with him to the most embarrassing places because he was never embarrassed about anything. He was Carlos James, and nothing scared him.
If people were worried about embarrassment, then he was the unapologetic king of embarrassments in the James household. Lia had learned that in the two months they had all stayed in her apartment.
