"Nikolai if you please," that is what Amelia had said, and Alex hadn't even considered that it could be a possible threat. Instead, he had watched her order the hit on his brother. They were in the same room, and none of them did anything to protect him.
The shots had come from three buildings away, and in the city's crowded business district, it was not going to be easy to know which building in particular. However, Alex had seen Nik, just like Nik had wanted him.
That was also how he knew that there wouldn't be any evidence playing Nik at the scene. He was a mercenary for a reason, and nothing would be traced back to him. Then again, all of that was insignificant to Alex right now.
He couldn't believe that his brother had been targeted. Of course that came as a shock to him, but still, with the enemies they had gathered over the years, it was impossible not to have someone gutting for them.
