Snow. Yes, there was snow that day, wasn't there? I really loved snow. They said my birthday was filled with snow. A strange phenomena since I was born in the first weeks of Fall. I loved snow, it was pure and pretty and cold. I really felt comfortable in the cold. It was the color of Cotten and clouds and blood... red. It was becoming crimson... the shouts erupted all around me, trying to tell me things I couldn't comprehend... I was groggy. Darkness threatened my vision, and that voice said...
...what did they say again..?
"Luka!" Chi Ankerman nipped my neck growling at me. Luka yipped a squirmed under her. Chi held her little brother down and sighed. "You said that you wanted to go for a run this morning. And your talented, amazing, favorite older sister- which is me by the way- said she would take time from her busy schedule to take you with her for her early morning exercise. So why are you sleeping in?" Luka whimpered and deflated under her.
"Sorry, Big sis Chi." Luka bit his lip. Chi got off him and grumbled.
"We leave in five." Luka sat up and grinned. A run! A run! It had been awhile since the last time he could accompany Chi on her runs. Luka pulled off his pajamas and threw them on the floor. A small growl erupted as Jay- the big Border Collie shook his pup's pants off his head. He snorted at Luka.
"Sorry, Jay. I didn't see you there." The big dog grumbled and began to tidy his pup's bed. The door blew open.
"Aren't you ready yet?" Chi demanded, "You'd better not be sleeping!" Luka hid himself.
"Chi! I'm still changing!"
Chi grabbed his thing and grinned.
"Heh. As if anyone would tempted by this puny nut! Your big sister has seen everything when you were in diapers. Don't sweat the small stuff." She threw his running shorts at him and grinned. "Now get dressed and let's run." Luka pouted.
"It's because they all measure the length that I always hide it from them..." he muttered. Jay barked at him.
The air outside was crisp and the chill in the air nipped at his ankles. I love the cold, Luka grinned. But... it would be winter again soon and that meant... Luka bit his lip. Chi slung her arm around her little brothers shoulder.
"Alright! You ready to run?" She flashed him a grin and Luka felt his muscles pulse.
"Yep!"
Chi was dressed in long, tight running pants and a white t-shirt. She had brown hair which she kept as short as possible to keep it out of the way for sports. Soccer, baseball, tennis, archery; Chi did it all and had quite the following of both male and female students. Her short hair also had another meaning: "I'm just as good as any boy, so don't screw with me!" Although, Luka didn't understand as Maya's hair was long and she was more bloodthirsty than Chi. Chi had emerald green eyes that almost made her seem like puck. Wait... who's Puck? Luka wondered. Shrugging off that last thought Luka crouched alongside Chi.
"Ready. Set..."
...........
When Luka ran he was as graceful as a gazelle, as fast as a cheetah, with as much stamina as one of the emperor's best stallions. Chi had always aimed to be at the top of all sports. No one was allowed to beat her especially not at archery. She didn't wield the Eclipse Bow for nothing after all. She allowed her elder sister to have the best spearman title because of her artifact.... but when it came to Luka's form and love for running; he was her pride! She may have given him crap this morning but the truth was: she had been waiting to see her little brother run since the day he got sick. Having him run when he was even under the weather was out of the question! He'd always had a weak constitution, after all. He needed to be protected. Still. When he ran he was enchanting!
Luka felt the air hit his face and whip around his clothes. His legs pushed passed the wall of still air and propelled him forward. The world stilled when he ran. It felt surreal like he was flying, soaring! Everything felt possible! All of it amazing! Chi ran behind him watching him with a look of awe on her face. Luka liked that his sister was proud of him. It made him feel happy that he had something like everyone else in the family. His mom, Sara, an omega like him was strong, his father, Eli, was a first class warrior. Maya his eldest sister shared their mother's unnatural strength and Chi was agile. He got sick all the time and was weak. Someone to take care of. Yet, his speed was his only redeeming quality. Something that made him worth it. He liked that; feeling like he really was an Ankerman!
He grinned like a fool and bounded forward, picking up speed-
"Luka!" Chi cried. Right... a true Ankerman... yet he collided with a person! What a failure!
