Chapter 8 - Vienna

Steve's POV:

I return to the room to find Charlie sleeping.  Sam lazily laying on the other bed watching tv.  When I enter, I walk over to mine and Charlie's bed, watching her sleep.  She looks peaceful, even though when she last left me, she was angry.  Sam's eyes find mine.  "How long has she been asleep?"  I whisper.

"A couple of hours."  He acts like he's about to say more but doesn't.  I go to my bag and grab some sweatpants and a shirt and walk in the bathroom to change.  I go and sit on the bed beside her and move her hair out of her face.  She stirs, but doesn't wake up.  What did I ever do to deserve this princess in my life?  I need her right now, but it's selfish of me to ask that of her.  "I'm going to go get us some food.  I'll be back in an hour."  Sam stands and puts his shoes on before leaving.

I lay down on the bed with Charlie, and grab at her hand.  She shuffles her body closer to me.  "Steve?"  she whispers.

"Yes, princess.  It's me...I'm..."  I can't find the words to say to her.  I know I hurt her.

"I'm sorry for leaving you."  Her eyes open as she rolls on her stomach, looking up at me.

"It's ok."

"No, it's not Steve.  I told you I wanted to be there for you, and I left you."  I give her a weak smile.  "We said we were friends, with benefits."

"For now."  I glance down at her; she gives me the sweetest smile.  I don't know when this timeline of us not being just friends with benefits ends, but I know our world is about to be much more complicated.

"And I shouldn't be angry with your past.  It's just when you moved my hand when she was up there, it was like you didn't want her to see.  And I just wanted to be there for you.  It wasn't...sexual."

So, this is what hurt her?  I don't even remember moving her hand off of me.  Just remember seeing Sam's hand on her knee.  "I'm sorry to have done that.  I wasn't thinking.  I don't even remember doing it."  I pull her hand into mine, resting them on my chest.  She nuzzles her face into me momentarily.  We lay like that for a few minutes.  "Nat was there today.  She's leaving for Vienna to sign the Accords."  Charlie doesn't respond, but her body stiffens.  "Do you regret your decision?"

She looks up at me.  "No.  None of the decisions I've made since meeting you I regret."  She searches my face.  I realize she's referring to our relationship as well.  "I would make every decision all over again if it led me here."

"I need you, Charlie."  I whisper.

"I know."  I pull her body up to me and kiss her forehead.  She fully sits up before straddling my waist, and bringing her lips down to mine.  She sweetly kisses my lips, much like our first kisses weeks ago.  My hands move up to her hips to pull her closer, she reaches her own hands to mine to remove them.  "Not yet, Captain."  She sneers down at me.  The prey is becoming the predator.  Her lips move down to my neck before leaving a few bites.

"That's going to leave a mark princess."

"Good."  She scoffs into my neck.  Still peppering kisses on my neck and collarbone she reaches to the bottom of my shirt and pulls it off my head, I adjust my body to allow her to do so.  And I reach to pull her shirt off, again she pushes my hands out of the way.  "I thought I told you not yet?"  I look back up at her, head tilting.  "Captain, you're always the one to take care of me.  Can I not take care of you for once?"

"I always end up on top."  I smirk.

"Not tonight."  I start to sit up only for her to push me back down on the bed.  "I said, not tonight Captain."  We have a short staring contest, before I allow her to take the lead.  Just for tonight, that is until, "There's a good Captain."  Slips out of her pretty little lips.  Her hazel eyes darken at me, pupils so dilated her eyes are nearly black.

"And who exactly do you think you are princess?  Telling the Captain what to do?"  I smirk up at her.  She's clearly enjoying this, but I also know she enjoys me being in control.  "You know you had a good thing going until you opened that sinful little mouth of yours.  I was willing to let you be the dominate one, but..."

"Steve...I..."  Her body is frozen.  I shake my head at her and lift myself off the bed, sitting up to face her.  I reach for her shirt and remove it from her head, she complies.  Still not answering me.  Slowly I undo her bra and throw it to the floor.  I bring my mouth to her breasts suckling on each nipple.  A whimper escapes her mouth and I look back up to her.

"Why so quiet princess?"  She shakes her head at me.  "Do you want to be in control tonight?"  Again, she shakes her head.  "Charlie, you answer your Captain with words."

"No Captain.  I want you to be in control."  I flip her body where she's laying on her back, and unbuttoning her pants, pulling them and her panties off.  "Can I... can I..."

"Princess what is it that you want?"

"I want to be on top."  We've never done that.  I take my sweatpants and underwear off only to lay back on the bed, looking over to her.  She gets up on her knees, straddling me again.  I place my hands on her hips guiding her to my erection.  When she fully allows me entrance she hisses at the sensation.  I use my hands to guide her hips in a rocking motion.  Placing her hands on my chest she quickens her grinding.  She's completely in control.  I watch her face as she smiles furrowing her brows from the stimulation.  She is beautiful.  And she's mine.  Her hands add more pressure to my chest and I can tell she's getting closer, I am too.  I do prefer to be over her, but watching her like this is almost like a drug.  I dig my fingers deeper into her hips, further guiding her rocking movements, this will leave bruises.  Her back arches back before she buckles from finishing.

I'm almost there, so I leave my hands on her hips, using my own movements to rock her on me.  She looks down at me, smiling, riding my dick, knowing I haven't finished.  Her pressure on my chest turns to her nails scraping down my chest and abs before I release, engulfing her pussy with my cum.  Her body slumps down on top of me, face nestled into my neck, and I wrap my arms around her.  Her body is heaving with deep breaths and she whispers into my neck, "I love you."  I pause, it's not something I don't feel for her, or even something I haven't said, but she was asleep.  This can't change our relationship.  We're going to have to continue to being friends with benefits.  For now.

I pull her up to look at her.  She shyly looks away from my eyes.  I gently smile, noticing her embarrassment, her cheeks a deep red from her exertion and her admittance to me.  She looks back down at my chest, and I bring her chin up to look at me.  "I love you, too."

"This doesn't change anything."  She states.  Charlie isn't asking me a question.  A sadness grows over her face.  I want it to change.  If we don't sign, and don't retire, we're on the run, we will literally become the vigilantes.  I can't have a normal life with her, one that she claimed she didn't want, but I know deep down she would love a family of her own.  She starts to get off of me, but I hold tightly to her hips.  I don't know what to say.

"Steve don't.  I'm sure Sam will be back soon."  She continues her gaze back down at me.

"No.  I don't care.  We have to talk about this.  Do you want..."

"We can't change things.  Not now.  We don't have to label us.  I do love you.  You're my friend, my colleague, my protector, my Captain."  She smirks down at me.  "But we're in a complicated situation here.  And it's only going to get worse I feel.  It's not like we can go out to dinner.  I know what not signing the Accords means for us, and Sam."  Charlie leans over and rubs her nose along my chin before kissing my forehead.

"But that's not enough."  My eyes search hers.  We're both being entirely too selfish to the other.

"It's going to have to be.  For now....let's shower, Captain."  She leads me into the bathroom and we shower together.  Instead of taking our time cleaning one another up, it's a quick shower.  We return to the bed and pretend to be a normal couple watching tv.  Waiting for Sam to bring back food.

I walk with Sharon through the hustle and bustle of the hotel lobby, she wanted to see me before we left.  Charlie is with Sam.  She hasn't asked any further questions concerning Sharon, but she also has no desire to be around her.  I've tried to assure her that she could be a good ally, and to trust me.  She does.

"My mom tried to talk me out of enlisting, but um, not Aunt Peggy.  She bought me my first thigh holster."  She opens up a conversation.

"Very practical."

"And stylish."  We reach an elevator and her hands reach up to touch a button.

"CIA has you stationed over here now?"  Referring to London.

"Berlin.  Joint Terrorism Task Force."

"Right.  Right, sounds fun."  I'm trying to keep up the small talk, but there's tension between us.

"I know, right?"

I start to mention Charlie, but can't.  "I've been meaning to ask you.  When you were spying on me from across the hall..."

"You mean when I was doing my job."

"Did Peggy know?"

Sharon sighs, "She kept so many secrets.  I didn't want her to have one from you."  She looks back at me and the elevator dings.

"Thanks for walking me back."

"Sure," I nod looking down at the floor.  I look back up at her, Sharon moves closer to me, leaning in as if to kiss....

"Steve."  Sam's voice booms over to us.  "There's something you gotta see."  I follow him

The news is playing on the TV and an anchor announces, "A bomb hidden in a news van..."

Sharon is pacing around behind us on the phone, "Who's coordinating?"  Charlie is sitting on the couch, panic struck.  She looks up at me, and I pet her cheek, her gaze returns back to the TV.  "Good.  They're solid.  Forensics?"  Charlie's face is pale.

"...ripped through the UN building in Vienna.  More than seventy people have been injured, at least twelve are dead.  Including Wakanda's King T'Chaka.  Officials have released a video of a suspect...who they have identified as James Buchanan Barnes..."  I feel Charlie's face tilt back up to me, but my eyes are frozen at the screen.  She looks over to Sam.  Sharon continues to pace on the phone, but I hear nothing.  "The Winter Soldier.  The infamous Hydra agent...linked to numerous acts of terrorism and political assassinations."

Sharon walks in between me and Sam and for the first time looks down at Charlie's pale face.  She quickly looks back to me, "I have to go to work."  She leaves.

"We're going to Vienna."  I flatly say.  Sam and Charlie move around the room collecting their things silently.

"You alright?"  I say into the phone, talking to Nat.  We're at a café; hats, and dark sunglasses all adorn our faces.  Sam and Charlie sitting at the bar, pretending to be in conversation, while I'm leaned up against a gate outside.

"Uh, yeah, thanks.  I got lucky...I know how much Barnes means to you.  I really do.  Stay home.  You'll only make this worse.  For all of us.  Including Charlie."  I glance over to where her and Sam are sitting.  "Please."

"Are you saying you'll arrest me?"

"No.  Someone will.  If you interfere that's how it works now."

"If he's this far gone, Nat, I should be the one to bring him in."  I look over and can see her in the distance.  She's safe.

"Why?"

"Because I'm the one least likely to die trying."  I hang up the phone.  Lingering to watch her look at her surroundings.  I walk into the café to where Sam and Charlie are, and give her hand a quick squeeze.

"She tell you to stay out of it?"  Sam asks looking over Charlie at my face.  I don't respond.  I don't need to because he knows the answer.  "Might have a point."

"He'd do it for me."  I look down at the counter and over to Charlie, her thumb begins tracing shapes on my hand.

"1945, maybe.  I just want to make sure we consider all our options.  The people that shoot at you, usually wind-up shooting at me.  And now we have Charlie for them to shoot at."  She turns her head to look at Sam.

"Luckily I'm fast and a good shot."  She huffs at him.  Sharon comes and stands beside me.  Not too close, and not looking.  Charlie removes her hand from mine.

I focus my attention to Sharon.  "Tips have been pouring in since that footage went public.  Everybody thinks the Winter Soldier goes to their gym.  Most of it's noise.  Except for this."  She slides a file over to me.  "My boss expects a briefing, pretty much now...so that's all the head start you're gonna get."

"Thank you."

"You're gonna have to hurry.  We have orders to shoot on sight."  Sharon looks at Sam and then Charlie before turning back to me.  I open the file.

"Looks like we're going to Bucharest."

Charlie's POV:

We walk through the door of Bucky's apartment.  There isn't much to look at.  The windows are covered with yellowed newspapers.  A mattress with a sleeping bag on top is in the floor.  Old wallpaper.  For what it is, it's at least clean.  We're all suited up.  This is the first time I'm wearing my suit in action.  It's an overwhelming and scary feeling.  Steve didn't want me to be in here with him, he preferred me on the outside scouting with Sam, but he agreed that my empathy, given the time, might come of use.  Not to mention it's better to keep an eye on me if I'm with him.

Steve stalks around the studio apartment, trying to find something, anything, that may be of a clue.  He walks over to the fridge and on top is a book, picking it up and opening it reveals it's in fact a journal, of memories.  There's post it tabs on some of the pages, Steve opens it to one, there's a picture of him saluting as Captain America.

On coms, "Heads up, guys."  Sam says.  "German Special Forces, approaching from the south."

"Understood."  Steve calmly responds.

I back away from Steve and look around when I turn he's standing there, watching us.  Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier.  "Steve."  I whisper.  My eyes never leave Bucky.  He looks down at me before looking back to Steve.  When I try to step back towards Steve, Bucky comes closer to me.  Steve slowly turns to see Bucky standing dangerously close to me.  His demeanor only slightly changes before he focuses again.

"Do you know me?"  Steve asks him.

"You're Steve."  I shift further away from Bucky only for him to come closer again.  Steve moves his eyes between us, calculating the best move, but I don't get the feeling Bucky wants to hurt me.  "I read about you in a museum."  My eyes dart to him, he looks over at me before meeting my eyes.  I pause.  His eyes the brightest shade of steel blue.  He looks back over to Steve, but I can't tear my gaze off of him.

"They've set the perimeter."  Sam says through coms.

Steve sets the journal down.  "I know you're nervous, and you have plenty of reason to be..."  Steve stalks over to where we're standing.  My gaze still hasn't left Bucky's face.  "But you're lying."

"I wasn't in Vienna.  I don't do that anymore."  Bucky quickly glances over at my staring face, shuffling even closer to me.  I can feel the heat coming off his body he's so close.

"They're entering the building."

"Well, the people who think you did are coming here now."  Steve's voice has an edge of worry.  Worried for the German Special Forces closing in on us, and worried about Bucky being so close to me, my eyes still never leave him.  "And they're not planning on taking you alive."  Steve walks closer to us, his eyes flitting between the two of us.

"That's smart.  Good strategy."  Bucky shifts his weight again and stepping even closer until we're touching.  I look over to Steve, my eyes lingering on him, before turning back to Bucky.  Not daring to shuffle around.

"They're on the roof.  I'm compromised."

I hear footsteps coming up the stairs to the apartment.  "This doesn't have to end in a fight, Buck."

"It always ends up in a fight."

"Five seconds."

I turn my face to look at Steve.  Panic has finally hit him, "You pulled me from the river."  Bucky takes off a glove revealing the hand of his metal arm.  Bucky wraps his hand around my wrist.  "Why?"  I still don't move, but I look over to Steve.  Open your ears, Charlie.  If he wanted to hurt you, he would have.  Listen, where are the Special Forces coming from?

"I don't know," Bucky responds.

"Three seconds."

"Yes, you do."  Steve glances at Bucky holding onto my wrist, not daring to provoke him.

"Breach!  Breach!  Breach!"

A grenade is thrown through the window, which Steve hits with his shield, sending it out the same window.  A bomb is thrown through another window that lands at mine and Bucky's feet, he kicks it towards Steve.  I finally struggle to get away from him, his metal hand only holding my wrist tighter.  Steve slams his shield on the bomb, allowing it to absorb the energy and keep us from blowing up.  Thank God.

Simultaneously men begin battering the door and Bucky picks up his mattress, pushing me into the floor while a bullet hits his metal arm.  Before I can crawl away, he pulls at my wrist and throws his dining table towards a door, creating an obstacle.  Two men catapult through the windows, Bucky punches at one, while I kick at his feet causing him to fall.  Steve pulls a rug out from the other man, and his gun randomly goes off, shooting towards me and Bucky.  Bucky pulls at the other man's harness cord completely knocking him to the ground, knocked out cold.

Another man comes in through a door attacking Steve, and he kicks him back through the door.  Bucky comes closer to me again, wrapping a hand around my wrist, smiling down at me, "Good to know you can fight and not just look good, doll."  I look up at him. Wait what?

Steve comes closer to us, pulling Bucky's hand off my wrist, "Buck, stop!"  He screams.  Bucky twists his arm over Steve causing him to drop his hand, and again pulling at my wrist, "You're going to kill someone."  Steve looks at me, and back at Bucky.  Bucky quickly drops my wrist pushing Steve to the floor and punching the floor beside his head, I let out a scream, causing Bucky to look up at me smirking.  His gaze turns back to Steve.  "I'm not gonna kill anyone."  He pulls out a backpack from the floor tossing it out one of the broken windows and fully standing up in front of Steve, I go to step away from him, only for him to grab at my wrist and squeeze.  I look down at Steve, unsure of what I should do.

More men come through the door shooting, Steve throws up his shield blocking them, while Bucky pushes me into Steve, him keeping himself on the other side of me. Is he protecting me?  He spins us around only to throw Steve out the window, "Don't you touch him."  I spit through my teeth.

"That's cute doll."  He tugs at my wrist and I turn back to Steve, "Follow him, I can find you."  He shouts at me.  I comply.

Bucky charges towards more of the men, placing his metal arm in front as a shield and keeping my body behind his large frame.  He pushes the man by his neck into the wall and floor below.  He gets up, only for Bucky to shove a cement brick at him.  He then punches the door out in front of us before charging out of the door, still holding my hand, and keeping my body behind his back.  He drops my arm to start fighting the men out on the stairwell.  I fight alongside him, kicking men back into the wall and slamming their heads back and into the wall, I want them unconscious, not dead.

Another man comes from the roof, shooting at us.  Bucky pushes me back and towers over me, using his arm as his shield.  Bucky knocks his gun out of his hand throwing it down the stairs, picking up the battering ram and using it to hit multiple men.  More men start to come up the stairs and Bucky looks at me clearly nervous, "Do you trust me?"

"I don't even know you."  I respond looking at him before the men get my attention.

"But you trust Steve.  Trust me."  And before I can respond he wraps his arm around my waist pushing us to the man dangling from a tether and propelling us further down the stairs.  We're in between an onslaught of men, which we take turns fighting and knocking them out.  Bucky turns and smirks at me, "Good girl."   before throwing a man down the stairs knocking down several in the process.  I blush, despite our current fighting. I see Steve come through a door further upstairs, he looks down to see Bucky and I are ok, grabbing a walkie talkie from one man, crushing it.  My Captain.

He starts jumping down the stairs, knocking men out cold on his decent to us.  Hot.  Bucky attempts to throw a man down the center of the stairs before Steve catches him, looking up at Bucky exasperated.  "Come on, man."  Bucky grins through his teeth knocking someone out without looking.  My eyes dart to Bucky.  That was sexy.  Stop!  Steve throws the man he was holding at the wall and looks over to me.

"Are you ok?

"I'm fine Captain."  I respond through clenched teeth still fighting.  He smirks at me before Bucky wraps his human hand around my waist, using the metal hand to rip away the bannister and jumping us down to another level.  Kicking out our feet as we knock down a door.  I roll out of his arms, but he quickly runs over to me grabbing my wrist.

"Come on, doll."  He pulls us out of the room to be met by more men that he starts slamming their heads into the walls, and throwing them behind us.  He hesitates and looks back at Steve, but notices someone pointing a gun right at his head.  Steve throws his shield and it sticks in the wall beside him.  The man hesitates and I grab a gun from my thigh, shooting at his hand and quickly returning it.  Bucky looks over to me and back up at Steve.  He grabs at my waist again and jumps down the stairwell holding on to me.  "I've got you."  He growls into my ear, before grabbing a hold of one of the metal bannisters with his metal arm.  I hold tighter to him.  The impact of stopping us causing him to scream.  He pulls us up over the bannister, and I look up at Steve.

Bucky pulls at my wrist and kicks down a door.  We're finally away from all the Special Force men.  He stalks through the hallway, turning to look at me.  "Get on my back."  I shake my head no.  "I wasn't asking."  He hoists me up on his back, and sets his sight on the door in front of us.  When I realize what he's doing I wrap myself tighter around him.  "That's what I thought."  He screams back at me.  I clench my eyes close as he jumps out of the building onto another, we roll on the rooftop.  I see his backpack, he scoops it up, continuing to pull at my wrist.

Someone comes up behind us and launches themselves on Bucky.  I finally am free of him, and yet I want to fight whoever this is to protect him.  This is what Steve would want.  Bucky rolls to the ground before standing back up, looking at the man dressed in a completely black suit. What the hell? I roll my eyes and run over to his side, placing my left foot in front of his.  He turns to me smiling.  The man in the black suit releases claws from his fingers.  Definitely a cat, Bucky and I run up to him and begin fighting.  The mystery man is a great fighter and Bucky pushes me out of the way before continuing to fight him.

He pushes Bucky up against a structure and thankfully Bucky moves out of the way before the cat man scratches down, his claws meant to tear at Bucky's chest.  This makes me see red and I jump on cat man's back punching him.  He throws me off and continues to stalk towards Bucky.  His claws slash at Bucky, which he continues blocking with his metal arm.  "Steve, Sam?  I could sure use some backup right about now."  Steve leans over the edge of the apartment complex spotting us.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, now get your ass down here!"

"Sam, southwest rooftop."  I lose sight of him before I realize he was getting some momentum to jump to where we were.

"Who the hell's the other guy?"  Sam asks circling around us in air.

"About to find out."  Steve jumps to the roof.  Landing close to me, he comes over to me looking at my face checking if I'm okay.

"I'm fine.  Bucky needs you."  He turns his attention to Bucky on the ground, cat man over him trying to dig his claws in his face, Steve and I both run towards him.  A helicopter has spotted where we are, and shoots at cat man and Bucky.  The cat man rears back.  The shots fired at him do not faze him.  Like Steve's shield.

"Sam."  Steve looks up.

"Got him."  Sam flies over to the helicopter and kicks his legs at its tail, making it go off course.  I run over to Bucky's backpack and pick it up.  Steve looks at me funny and I shrug.  It's obviously important to him.

Bucky uses the helicopter distraction to kick the cat off of him.  He runs over to where I'm at grabs at my wrist again.  Steve runs over trying object, "Not her Buck." Bucky ignores him and runs straight towards me.

"Put that on, doll."  Bucky screams at me running, pointing at the back pack.  I comply.  Wrapping his arm around my waist he jumps onto a ledge, looking back up we see cat man is following, using his claws to scale down the building.  Bucky jumps us down and pulls my legs around him before landing.  When we land, he screams, "Run!"  I comply.  Cat man continues to chase after us, and the helicopter starts shooting again, Bucky jumps us down into a tunnel with traffic.  Maneuvering around the oncoming traffic, Bucky holds onto me tightly, "I've got you."

"Charlie, are you ok?!"  Steve screams over coms.  "I'm ok, are you?"  Bucky looks over at me shaking his head.  Cat man has caught up to us, and we intensify our speeds.

"Nice to see you can run, doll."

"Stop calling me that!"  He smiles and continues running.  We race through the traffic.  Where are Steve and Sam? I feel I'm getting further and further away from them.  I hear sirens blaring behind us.

"I'm behind you Charlie.  Keep him away from that guy."  Steve tells me over coms.

"What do you think I've been doing?"

"Getting swept up by my best friend." I huff at him to shut up.  I hear a commotion and start to turn back.

"Eyes up front, princess."

"Definitely don't call me that." I grit my teeth. That name is for Steve's mouth only.

"I'm running out of options here."  He pulls me tight to him before jumping up on a car to run over the top of it.

"Sam, I can't shake this guy."  Steve tells Sam, over coms.  Where are they?

"Right behind you." Sam answers back.  More sirens.  More commotion of cars hitting one another.

"Steve be safe."  I call to him.  "I'm fine princess, just keep up with Bucky."

"Bucky there's sirens coming from in front of us."  I look over to him.

"I noticed that, doll."  We slow our running only to be met with several police vehicles.  Time to change our direction.  We jump over to oncoming traffic, escaping a pile up.  I see a motorcycle coming straight at us.  "Do you trust me."  I nod my head and Bucky pushes me back a little before grabbing ahold of the handlebars of the motorcycle, slinging the rider off and spinning the motorcycle around facing us away from the pile up.  That was hot.  I feel my cheeks blush, "Get on."  I comply and tightly wrap my arms around his waist.

We race away.  I weave my body with Bucky's as we move through the traffic, and snake my arms tighter around him.  I tense up, looking up and behind us I see cat man flying in the air, claws at the ready to maim Bucky.  Bucky reaches his flesh hand up and around his neck.  We're still driving down the road at an inhumanly speed but cat man kicks his feet on the wall pulling Bucky's arm to the opposite side, and the motorcycle with him.  I brace myself, and Bucky's metal arm scrapes on the road below trying to steady the motorcycle.  I release an arm from around Bucky pushing the cat man off of us.  He slams on the road, and Bucky uses his metal arm to right the motorcycle up.  He glances back at me, "You ok doll?"

"I would be better if we could lose him."

"All you had to do was ask."  He throws something to the top of the tunnel and it attaches, quickly blowing up and the tunnel starts to fall.

"My Cap... Steve, is back there."  Bucky laughs.  I turn back to look and see cat man launching at us.  He knocks me off the motorcycle and Bucky grabs ahold of me to follow.  As we're rolling down the road, I see Steve crash through the falling tunnel, grabbing a hold of me.  I continue to run with him to Bucky.  We can't stop, a SUV is barreling towards us.  Steve slams his whole-body weight and shield at cat man.  I go to take a stance over by Bucky, Steve follows, standing in front of us.

Sirens come from all directions.  And Steve and I both realize we're not walking away from this with a slap on the wrist.  Police vehicles surround us.  Bucky steps closer to me, pulling at my wrist with his metal arm, pulling me closer, I look at him with a grimace.  Steve cautions Bucky to stand down, before standing beside me, placing himself and the shield slightly in front of me.  Bucky glances at us, and let's go of my wrist, but doesn't leave my side.

Rhodey, in the War Machine suit, lands in front of us, holding his hands out at us.  He's ready for an attack.  "Stand down, now."  I look over at Steve, he looks back down at me.  I grab ahold of Bucky's arm, pulling him closer to me.  I feel the need to protect him.  He doesn't resist.  Only shifts his body closer to me.  Both super soldiers towering over my petite frame.  Steve moves to the side to place his shield on his back, grabbing ahold of my hand, intertwining his fingers in mine.  "Congratulations Cap, you're a criminal.  You too, Charlie."  Steve drops my hand and places his above his head.  Bucky and I follow suit.  Cat man is still standing in front of us, not moving a muscle.  Who is he?

Officers come over and push Bucky on his knees, "Don't.  Please, don't hurt him."  I look over at Rhodey, Bucky and Steve's faces turn towards mine.

"I'm okay."  Bucky calmly says before his stone face returns looking at the officers.  Other officers are marching Sam out to where we are.  Hands raised.

Focus has shifted to cat man.  He slowly raises his hands in surrender.  Officers come behind Steve and then me to cuff us.  Cat man's claws retract, hands drift to his helmet.  He begins to take it off to reveal himself.  T'Challa.

"Your highness."  Rhodey answers.

Bucky is pushed further to the ground.  I start to object.  "Don't, doll, you'll only make it worse."  He answers.  I comply.  I look over at Steve and he hasn't removed his stare from T'Challa, T'Challa not removing his from Bucky's.  I look down to Bucky.  He winks before they hoist him up and put him in a separate vehicle then where they're leading us.

"Where are they taking him?"  I ask Steve.

"He's one of the most wanted men Charlie, they're making sure he won't get away."

T'Challa glances at me.  "You seemed comfortable with the Winter Soldier."

"I've only just met him today."  He walks away from me, and they load us in the vehicle.
