Desperately seeking for any way out, she suddenly thought of Ryo.
'He must know something.'
"Though he said he can't fill in with the dots, he at least can help me right?" Airi felt a bit more hopeful thinking that at least she got one person beside her.
Or maybe one shady spirit…
Yet, the most concerning part was...
"But how am I gonna call him?"
She pondered for a while. And then thought about trying to call him like people normally call anyone. "Ryo, you there?"
Immediately there was a bright silver light surrounding her, and Ryo appeared. "I must say you miss me a lot. We met just now, didn't we?"
"You really are just a call away, how easy-goin' angel, cheh!" Airi clicked her tongue on Ryo, so loud that probably everyone in the house could hear that if she did it a bit louder.
So, there was no way Ryo missed it.
"Should I have made it hard then?" Ryo gave her back an annoyed look, that made him look like the annoyed straight-faced emojis on keyboard, at least to Airi.
Airi also didn't budge from her place. Airi gave a blank yet irritated look to Ryo, which didn't affect him at least a bit. "It's no time for a joke. Listen up. I know you can't tell me anythin' about her, and even if I force ya' you won't spill any beans either."
"Tell you about who?"
"About Arne."
"Isn't that you yourself?"
"Yeah, same thing. Now listen. You can't tell me, fine, but at least you hafta' help me find out about her."
"About you…"
"THE SAME THING." Airi raised her voice by getting interrupted for the same thing.
"IT IS NOT. You are treating this life as something you are getting imposed on." Ryo got really angry by now, as he was desperately making herself realize the fact that this was indeed her life, whereas she was stubbornly running from it.
"Well, this is all new to me. There's no way this is gonna get any easier! And IT IS imposed on me!"
They both paused for a couple of minutes, until Airi broke the silence, "So, can I proceed?"
"Yes, you may." Ryo pointed her to the bed to sit down, and he made himself comfortable, standing beside the tall wardrobe, putting his entire weight on it.
"So, I wanna ask ya' somethin'. What huge of an accident, or event, whatever happened to her… I mean to me, to be in a coma for like, almost 5 months? By the way that Maria girl sounded, it must be something I brought upon myself. So what, was I a clumsy little chick? Fell down from that dark hell of a stairs? What was it?"
"You sure do talk strange. It's just been a day or two, and you are already giving up on hard work. I wonder how you managed to be a topper."
Airi pouted with the remarks of Ryo, "Well I am sorry, but all I got are these high scores, so if you will spare me with those praises."
"Okay, the only thing I can tell you is, some of your belongings and some reports of your hospital days are of course, with your parents. That might be kept somewhere hidden, as you can see Mrs. Arne doesn't want you to know whether you were a chick or duckling... haha, this is funny though hehe."
Airi glared at Ryo as he found himself hard to control his laughter. "So, whenever you can, just sneak in there and find out yourself."
"Dang... YOU! All you need to do is just simply put that hand on my head and some abrakadabra to bring out some light and poof, I am gonna get filled up with all the events, like last time."
"You sure last time worked? Did all your memories come back to you?"
"It didn't? There are some more to it?"
Maybe it was her delusion, but she felt like she saw a bit of sorrowful and helpless expression in Ryo's eyes. "If it did, your first question back then should've been something else."
Before Airi got any chance to question further, Ryo averted the topic, "Well, you sought help from me, and I did. There are some… restrictions, which is why I can't make things simple for you."
"So that's all?" Disappointment was clear in her voice.
"That's all."
"And you call this helping... sigh."
"I am not allowed to even do that for your information."
'Sigh! This is getting hard!'
Airi very well understood that this high school life of hers was problematic to an extent.
"I got some work so…" with that Ryo dissolved into thin air.
'And there he goes again. He could at least use goodbye or somethin' right? And people say I'm the socially awkward one…'
------
'Mrs. Arne's room he says…'
'She is busy making breakfast, so this would be a chance to search up there.'
Airi carefully climbed down to avoid making noises that can alert the lady down there. She peeked into the kitchen to confirm about Mrs. Arne.
After she made sure Mrs. Arne was working with all of her attention to it, Airi tiptoed towards the room where she went before to get the jacket.
Ryo said she might find something kept there. And as they are being all too secretive about her state past months, those might be important, and so, well-hidden.
"I guess that makes my work a bit easier, I could go for some sorta small locker or drawer-like thing." Airi calculated her steps in her mind once again. "Sate, let's announce the commencement of the mission 'Life of pi… no, Airi Arne' right now," With that in mind, she started searching every nook and corner for such a thing.
She went through the wardrobe, even the little boxes the bed had under it. But apart from a bunch of keys, some newspapers, empty packets of medicines and some prescription with Mr. Arne's name on it, she couldn't find anything related to her.
The only place remaining was the bedside table. It had two small cabinets, which could be a nice place to keep something small.
"Probably I will find somethin' here," she tried to pull open the first cabinet by the knob attached to it.
"Cheh! It's locked." Even the second one was locked.
"Now where could be the keys... oh! Maybe those keys could…" she pulled out one of the boxes she searched earlier to fish out the bunch having different shapes of keys.
"Yeah, here it is. Now, if luck helps…"
She started putting keys one by one whichever seemed right in shape of the lock, every time checking at least twice before moving to the next one.
*Click*
Her luck clicked on the last key, as it unlocked the drawer.
After unlocking the drawer, she saw some prescriptions and some medicines, having her name on it, some more papers having the same hospital name on it. And also, there was a cellphone, which was oddly girlish with all the pinkish garments and straps on it.
"Ugh!!! The taste in color! This is maybe the cellphone. And those prescriptions also say mine…"
She was so engrossed in her findings that she completely forgot to be careful about someone barging into the room, or keep and eye on the gate for the least.
"What are you searching for there?"
A male voice almost stopped her breath, as she got caught on doing whatever she was.
The voice was Mr. Arne's.
'Dang it!'
