A burst of loud laughter roared inside the apartment. Jeremy's expressions changed from shock to confusion. Grim regretted not capturing his fish-like poker face when he uttered those words. A moment ago, Jeremy looked like he would pass out of shock. Well, who knew he would've been if grim hadn't erupted the silent and killing air with his laugh.
"You just looked like the spirit of air sent you to serve Underworld demons", grim got up to his feet.
"I ain't kidding here Shawn", Jeremy wanted an answer. He had seen a spark in grim's eyes. The spark he never saw before. Even though it was momentarily, but not to go unnoticed by the spirit of hope.
"Why wouldn't I write her name? That's ridiculous. Seriously stop watching those movies. You're digging yourself way too much into a non-existent world", fishing the phone inside his pocket grim walked to his room.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I write her name in the Death Note? But a little bit of fun won't cost a million dollars deal", he smiled to himself at the thought of teasing the hell out of the little fawn. He changed into his nightclothes and drifted off to sleep the instant he laid his back on the bed.
Next Morning
Ellen stretched out her legs and arms as she roamed her hand over the table. Yawning, she rubbed her eyes with one hand when her other hand held a grasp of something she was looking for. Phone. Last night she passed out on the couch watching a movie. It was very unlike of her to sleep on the couch since she cherished her sleep on the soft mattress in the cozy bedroom. But the day she had yesterday, it didn't take her long to drift off to sleep as soon as she laid closely with the warm blanket, not to mention dealing with grim's lunacy.
She held the phone before her face but the view was a little blurry. Closing her eyes tight shut, she opened them after a few seconds to sight the time on the lock screen. There was an hour to eleven means she had enough time to take a shower and make herself a healthy breakfast. She pushed the blanket off her body and was about to get up to her feet when her phone dinged. Unlocking the screen, she touched on the message icon as there were some messages from an unknown number.
Unknown number: Morning Sweetheart
Ellen: Who's there?
Unknown number: You didn't recognize my voice?
Ellen: But you just sent me a text
Unknown number: ...
Ellen: Wait a sec. Shawn?
Unknown number: See? You can see my face through my messages
Ellen: Only one person on this earth can sound this mindless and that's you, you educated a*s
Unknown number: The a*s you dream about
Ellen: Eww
Ellen: How did you get my number!
Ellen: Ima block you!
Unknown number: Well your friend is more humble and welcoming than you.
Not just she gave me your number but also invited me over to the club she works
Ellen: I'll make sure you won't get to see her again!!
Unknown number: I might not but Jeremy would for sure
Ellen: Wdym?

Ellen: Thankfully not for you
Unknown number: But you're

Unknown number: Of course I would let you have my little friend entertain you
Ellen: ?
Unknown number: You just said we would be together in my dreams. Right?
Ellen: Yeah but in dreams means never happening for real
Unknown number: It means little somewhere you wish to be with me and

Ellen: My goodness
Ellen: You're such a pervert!
Unknown number: A pervert you are in love with
Ellen: F*ck you
Unknown number: Do you really think you can handle me?

Ellen kicked her legs in the air, taking out the frustration. Groaning she finally got off the couch and jogged slackly inside the bathroom. She heaved a sigh of relief while standing under the warm shower, letting the water streaming down all the frustration. After washing her hair and cleaning the body using a washcloth she massaged the neck and crook with strawberry lotion followed by a circular motion of fingers over the chest. Grabbing the towel, she wrapped it around her body and walked out of the bathroom
"Simple would work for today", glancing out of the window she whispered to herself as the weather was partly sunny but mostly cloudy.
She slipped into bottom jeans with a turtle neck shirt followed by a mini jacket on the top. Putting the shoes on, she dried her hair with a towel until the water was soaked inside it and use a comb to straighten them.
She still had thirty-five minutes before the clock hit eleven of the morning so she made herself a cheese sandwich and a glass of strawberry shake. After finishing breakfast, she walked back to her room, slung the bag over her shoulder and turned off the lights before grabbing an extra pair of keys from the nightstand since she didn't remember where she put the one she always used last night.
She locked the door and had a leisure walk up to the bus stop, enjoying the weather. Ellen had a car but she rarely used it. It was the same car her parents had their accident while driving. After her parents passed, she repaired it to keep it as a souvenir of her deceased parents but every time she looked at it, the horrible memories of her parent's bruised bodies would come across her mind. She was called by a hospital to receive the bodies.
The car was always parked on the back road of her house. The reason she drove the car to the beach when she met grim was she thought it would be her last time driving it. But it wasn't that easy. Ending your life for an unfaithful boyfriend didn't make enough sense to her. She didn't even have her first kiss. Yes, it was true that she had her first boyfriend but whenever the boy would approach her she would step back while saying she wasn't ready yet. Indeed, It was her first time in a relationship and she needed her time which her boyfriend couldn't find worth bearing, hence, ended up cheating on her.
After boarding the bus, she swiped the card on the entry and took the third window seat.
Staring out of the window, she noticed a boy wearing a cap covering his face. The clothing and appearance of the boy reminded her of the boy from the night when she thought someone was chasing her. The boy was gazing down to the ground before turning to his heels. She scooted up a little from her seat to go after the boy but the driver started driving making her lose the balance and fall back on the seat.
"This couldn't be a coincidence", her forehead creased, eyebrows furrowed, suspicion blanketing the face momentarily.
Brushing it off once again she plugged in the earphones and played the newly released single Hold On.
After a few minutes, the bus halted at the stop near the library. She took off and walked to her destination. Entering inside, she instantly walked up to the shelves and started with the regular task, arranging the books. While organizing them, she remembered the drawings she found in a book.
"I remember I put it here", she rummaged through all the racks of the third shelf in the row but couldn't find the book. Her current underwriting book was Underworld. She always found supernatural and metaphysical things very interesting. She was thinking about having a closed and detailed look at those sketches as she couldn't yesterday because of grim. Before he dragged her out of the library, she collected the scattered drawing and settle them inside the book like they were before.
"Maybe someone took it out for reading and leave it on another shelf. After all, they are all educated illiterates", considering this possibility she headed towards the other shelves and proceeded with arranging the books, hoping to find the wanted one out of those.
Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours. One after the other shelf, still no sign of the book. At last, her job timing came to its end. She dropped the hope of having a gaze at those drawings again and grabbed her bag to leave the place. She didn't get to meet up with Mrs. Benson. Nor that she was dying to. The latter just didn't show up today.
Stepping out of the library, her phone ringed. Taking it out, she saw a Webnovel notification on the lock screen.
"Hi, Authur! When are you updating Underworld? I'm dying to read the next chapter!", she smiled reading the only message in her conversation panel.
She thought about writing a new chapter, being unaware of her written fate.
