Chapter 3 - Chapter Two

Getting home from the ice cream shop with Beth, she still looked sad, my brave, badass Beth looked sad like she was about to loose the most important thing to her.

Walking into the living room, I found both my parents arguing about something, I didn't get a chance to listen because they stopped on seeing me.

Plastering a smile on her face, my mom asked me "How was your morning honey?"

"It was nice, Beth was sad so we came back early." I answered while giving them both sceptical looks, my mom looked neutral only giving me a small sad smile and my dad entirely avoided eye contact. I was about to speak when mom beat me to it.

"Go freshen up honey, I'll call you when lunch is ready." she said which made the situation even more suspicious that it already was. Nonetheless, I went up to my room and decided to text Beth but then I started hearing muffled arguments.

"We don't have another choice you know she has been on our business since we mated." My mom said trying to reduce her voice as much as possible but I could pick it up thanks to my wolf senses.

"No, they'll kill her the moment she walks into the...." he stopped speaking, I think he heard my bedroom door creek, damn me for leaning on it, do to cover up, I acted like I was going downstairs.

"I just wanted to grab a bottle of water." I said plastering a fake smile similar to that of my mom. Taking the water, I went to my room and shut the door, giving them the privacy to continue their argument.

About two hours later, mom called me for lunch, so here I am having the most awkward meal of my life, don't get me wrong, I love my parents but it's obvious they're hiding something. It's probably just a birthday surprise. After convincing myself that I wasn't running away from the truth, I smiled and happily finished my meal.

"Honey, we have to tell you something." my father spoke up breaking the awkward silence in the room. Uh oh, this can't be good.

I turned my attention to him, dropping the spoon to show that he had my undivided attention.

"I know it's against the rules to tell you this but..." Dad started and without him finishing the sentence I already knew what he was about to say "you have been chosen by the moon goddess for the festival."
