Chapter 2 - Psycho Game (prologue 2)

"Allyn, wait up," the good-looking boy chased after Allyn without relent. He goes by the name; Everett.

"We need to talk," Everett caught in no time.

"Let's do that after class," Allyn said. Clearly, he doesn't want to stay close to Everett.

"Come on, there's still 20 minutes more before class officially begins," Everett said. This time he held on to Allyn by the shoulder to prevent him from moving any further.

"The hell do you want now?" Allyn snapped a bit. "Last time I checked, you never treated me like we were related, so why now?"

"I'm sorry about my behavior, it's just... you're always keeping a low profile at school. You were like a ghost. It would be weird if everyone knew we were cousins," says Everett.

Yep, you read it. Allyn and Everett are cousins. Everett just moved over from a different city last semester. The nearest school he could attend is the same one Allyn is attending.

Unlike Allyn, Everett's family is super-rich and well known, couple all of this with Everett's good looks, he immediately became famous in school on the very first day he showed up.

No one would have imagined he had the same blood running through Allyn's veins, and they never made it known. Perhaps, because their relationship with each other's family isn't that good, Everett and Allyn were never that close.

"Trust me, this is not something you want to miss," Everett says. He seems pretty excited and Allyn is getting curious.

"Do tell," Allyn said.

"Are you familiar with the Psycho Game company?"

"Who isn't?,"

"Well, they had launched the long-awaited virtual reality game,"

"No way!" Allyn could not believe his ears. "You're kidding, right?"

"Certainly not,"

Everett pulled out a flyer that advertised the newly released video game and gave it to Allyn.

"Here," He said, handling the flyer to Allyn.

"Lord of Titans," Allyn muttered according to what is written on the Flyer.

"I know this info will be useful to you, so there you have it," says Everett.

'Damn! I need this game!! How do I get it?'

Allyn has never owned a virtual game before. He can make do with the normal PS4 video games, which he's still satisfied with. However, for an unknown reason, he felt like he needed to have this video game no matter the cost, it's practically driving him crazy.

'Should I get a job? I think I'll probably need to if I'm to get my hands on this video game,' oblivious to his surrounding, Allyn subconsciously starts analyzing. You can figuratively see many letters floating over his face.

"Allyn? Allyn!"

"Yeah,"

"Are you alright? You've been spacing out," Everett said.

"It's nothing,"

"Let's meet up again later on," Everett walked away. He left the flyer with Allyn.

.

.

.

School curriculum began right after Allyn made it to class. The only problem is he wasn't paying attention to lectures the whole time.

For someone who isn't good with mathematics, just as earlier with Everett, several equations are levitating all over the place as Allyn kept on with calculating his budget.

"Allyn, stop spacing out, boy," the teacher called out to him.

"Ah... sorry, Mr. Alton," Allyn snapped back to reality.

"Don't apologize to me, to be honest, I don't care if you pay attention or not, you'll see the consequences when you get an F on your result,"

Mr. Alton's word caused a few chuckles from the students. This made Allyn more embarrassed. He's become the center of attention again.

At the end of the school curriculum, most of the students left the class to attend whatever clubs they are a member of.

Allyn sat on a desk, his attention is focused right outside the window. He stayed there for a couple of minutes before Everett came in.

"I should have known you would be here," Everett says.

"Everett?"

"In the flesh,"

"I've been meaning to ask you, how much will it cost me to purchase a virtual gaming device?"

Thinking it through, Allyn realized he might never get the chance to own a virtual gaming device, not to talk of the newly released virtual gaming software, as there would most likely be pricy beyond his ability.

"It's pretty expensive if you ask me, though there is currently a 50% discount that would last for a limited time," Everett said.

"I see," Allyn still felt down.

It wouldn't matter whatever discount is given, he still cannot purchase it, not by himself.

The time for the discount would have ended before he could get his hands on it. Nothing is going as planned.

"You know, I could get the gaming device without you having to spend a single dime," Everett offered. "I'll be getting mine for free anyway,"

"Wait, what? for free?"

"Yeah, the 'Psycho Game' is in partnership with my dad's company, so giving one away for free to the CEO's son is like getting on his good side,"

"Wow!!" Allyn exclaims.

"So there is a possibility I could get them to give one more,"

"So what do you say? Would you like me to do that?"

"Isn't that going to be too much trouble?" No matter how tempting this offer might be, Allyn still had to look at the bigger picture.

"In all honesty, my dad is aware of your addiction to video games, so he advised me to do this on your behalf," Everett admitted, "So all the thanks go to him."

From Allyn's standpoint, something doesn't feel right. Since when did they ever care about him, they would go this far? Are they perhaps trying to make amends for the way they behaved? Is this even the best way to go about it?

Well, whatever, who cares? The key point is he's finally going to acquire something he had always wanted, and that's all that matters.

"Yeah, I would be grateful if I could get one of those," Allyn said.

"Alright then, I'll just inform my dad,"

Everett lightly taps on Allyn's shoulder like a father reassuring his son.

Everett left, leaving Allyn alone in the class...

Seconds before arriving, Gray had found Everett exiting his class, and this got him curious why he was even here. After all, Allyn should be the only one inside... are they now speaking to each other?

"Where have you been?" Allyn asked.

"Detention,"

"How did that happen?"

"Well, I came late to school, and the principal caught hold of me," Gray said. "It was hell in there," he added as he threw his bag pack to the nearest desk, probably his.

"You kind of deserved it,"

"Why do I feel you're trying to make me snap?"

"I'm just stating the fact,"

"let's hope you don't get a premature demise for that,"

Allyn chuckled. However, his smile quickly fades the moment he noticed Gray's killer stare. That is a warning sign he shouldn't ignore.

"I'm hungry, let's go get something to eat." They both walked out of the class, probably heading to the school cafeteria.

"What was Everett doing in our class?"

"Nothing important," Allyn replied, not willing to go through any details for now.

"It seems you two are close,"

"I'm not sure,"

Gray still had his suspicion, but he kept it to himself, he's already aware of the relationship between these two, Allyn had told him.

.

.

.

Hours later...

"I'm off,"

Allyn finished his dinner and was about to go back to his room.

"You alright?" Allyn's dad is present.

"Yeah, I am," walking away, Allyn paused for a second. He had something to say but quickly thought about it.

"Hmm," This action did not go unnoticed by his dad, "I should go talk to him," He said as he stood on his feet.

"Yeah, you should," Allyn's mom commented, to which he nodded.

While about to take the stairs, a gentle knock resounded on the door.

"I'm sorry, is this the Menken's residence?" a delivery guy stood just outside their home. This is especially clear due to the large package he had with him.

"Yes, is there a problem?"

"Haha, no, not at all," the delivery man replies with a smile, "The KennyLight company sent this as a gift to Allyn."

"The KennyLight?" Allyn's father got taken aback by this, isn't that his brother's company? So what's going on here?
