Chereads / Allyn in Titan's World / Chapter 4 - Unknown ID (Prologue 4)

Chapter 4 - Unknown ID (Prologue 4)

For the next two days, everything went normal, like always. Allyn's everyday life remains the same... boring.

The new release of The Lord of Titans became viral a lot more than they were earlier, especially due to the time limit before the discount goes down.

The gaming software is also running out, so soon, no one would have access to it until further notice.

So for the past two days, millions of die-hard gamers are actively purchasing the game along with its HMD. The Psycho Game Company is receiving a massive amount of profits, probably beyond their imagination.

The new gaming software became the talk of the town. Google ads and YouTube are actively promoting it the best way they can, social media are not left behind since this became another means to give people's awareness.

The demand for The Lord of Titans became very overwhelming that the Psycho Game Company had to postpone the date for the big in-game announcements until the following weekend. Allyn, who is now following the news, also knew about this. Now he has to wait for another week before he can log in... frustrating.

*Ding!*

A text message was sent to Allyn's phone, and it's from an unknown ID.

Unknown ID: "Hi"

Allyn: "Hello?"

Unknown ID: "I got your number from a friend of yours,"

Allyn: "Sorry... who are you exactly?"

"Is that Gray?" Hazel, Allyn's mom, asked.

Everyone is currently in the dining room, including Sawyer, Allyn's father.

"No, not really," replied Allyn.

"Your girlfriend?" Hazel asked with raised eyebrows. Allyn doesn't have many friends, so he's rarely on his phone chatting with anyone, except Grayson.

"You know very well that I don't have a girlfriend," says Allyn.

Aurora chuckles to mock her elder brother...

"Of course, we all know that," says Aurora. "There is no way anyone would want to date someone like you,"

"You talk like you're any better,"

"Oh yes, I am,"

"Then why don't you have a boyfriend?"

"Shut up, it has nothing to do with you," Aurora did not expect Allyn's counterattack.

"I'll tell you why," Allyn continues, "Because no one wants to date a flat chest like you. At age 16, you still look like an 8-year-old kid, both physically and mentally,"

Allyn's harsh words hit pretty hard. This is truly unexpected, and both parents had their jaws dropping.

"How dare you!!" Aurora roars.

"Sorry little sis, but someone had to tell you, and it's not mom or dad since they don't want to hurt your feelings. Me... I honestly don't care," those were Allyn's last words before he left the dining room and heads to school.

.

.

.

Without a doubt, the relationship between Allyn and his sister would only get worse, but he couldn't care less. For so long, he has tried to get close to her and make her stop being so harsh. None of his attempts were fruitful, so what's the use of trying so hard?

Everett and Allyn never had as many conversations as they used to before receiving the gaming HMD. Honestly, Allyn wasn't bothered by this, as he never felt close to Everett, and that may remain the same for a very long time.

The attention he's receiving from school due to his relationship with Everett was also quite overwhelming. Allyn prefers to remain in the shadows, like always.

"You've been attracting a lot of girl's attention, you know that?" Gray said, most likely speaking to Allyn.

They are at the school library, not to read or study but to pass time, since the library is one of the quietest places in the school...

"I don't see that happening," replies Allyn.

"Yeah, that's where you are wrong,"

"Is that so? Please enlighten me," says Allyn.

"A girl named Elena came asking for you the previous day," Gray said with a smug.

"And you expect me to believe that?"

"I guess not, but she asked of your number from me,"

"And?..."

"I gave it to her,"

"Huh?" Allyn finally recalled the conversation he had with an unknown ID.

He pulled out his phone to check the history of his chat with this individual. The last message sent by him was his asking of her identity.

Unknown ID: "I am Elena, we've met before,"

From the period this message came in, it is pretty obvious she had sent it a long time ago, but Allyn never checked.

"Ooh, it seems you two are already having an intimate conversation," Gray said as he peers into Allyn's phone.

"Not exactly. She's only trying to get close to me to have a better chance with Everett,"

"What!! that's messed up," says Gray with a bitter countenance, "and I was stupid enough to give your number to her,"

"It doesn't matter,"

"So what were you guys always talking about?"

"Who?"

"You and your so-called cousin,"

"It's a long story,"

"Or you don't want to tell me?"

"Ok, fine," Allyn knew he shouldn't be keeping this from his closest friend, "He gave me a new virtual gaming device along with a gaming software called Lord of Titans."

Gray lost control of his jaw and his mouth was left open with popped-out eyeballs.

"You're kidding... right?"

"No, I'm not," Allyn said, "I know I should have told you this, but I wasn't sure if Everett is being serious,"

"The gaming device is not even the problem but the gaming software itself," Gray said, clearly still astonished.

"How so?"

"Lord of Titans is an updated version of 'Enter The Titan's Gate'. This first version was created by the late Edward Verlice before his death."

"The major quest of the game is unlocking the tallest gate that is under the protection of one of the strongest titans in the game. Whoever finds the keys to the Titan's gate and defeats its protector will have unrestrained access to the game's data as a reward."

"Nobody knows the true identity of the individual who could complete the quest but it seems he/she must be working with the Psycho Game Company, or perhaps he/she must have sold the game to them, which is worth over Billions of dollars. This is the only way the Psycho Game Company would have access and be able to give major updates to the game," Gray explained.

"I did not know they were connected,"

"Yeah, that's typical of you,"

"Is that a compliment?"

"Does it sound like a compliment?... Anyway, my point is you're super lucky to have that video game in your possession. You have no idea how many people are chasing after it even at this very moment."

"My dad, who isn't the gaming type, could not stop himself from buying it online... He and my mom had a few disagreements thanks to that."

"Wait, hold on a sec, your dad bought a virtual gaming device?"

"Yeah, along with the same software... The only problem is I don't have access to it,"

"Your dad doesn't want you using it,"

"Yeah,"

"Well, I don't blame him. We spend most of our life playing video games,"

"Whatever, that's his problem... besides, I can always secretly log in during the weekends,"

"Your dad will not like that,"

"If he finds out," Gray said with his usual smug.

.

.

.

Gray came out of the library and heads to class, that's when he bumps into Everett.

"Yo! dude, what's up?"

'Huh, why is he talking to me like we are buddies? has he gone retarded?' Gray said inwardly. He certainly doesn't like the good-looking guy.

"You are friends with Allyn, right?" Everett asked. He probably did not notice the grudge emitted by Gray.

"Not really. You must be talking about my twin brother," Gray said in sarcasm.

"You don't have a twin brother,"

"How would you know?"

"Cus, your parents can't handle two troublemakers,"

"Tch,"

Now that comment pissed Gray off, but he started it.

"Allyn is in the library," Gray said before walking away.

"What's his probs?" Everett mumbles as he watches Gray walking away. Seconds later, he continued his journey to the library where Allyn was supposedly located.

"Yo! Allyn!" Everett called out.

"Everett? what are you doing here? I did not know you're the reading type."

"That's because I'm not," says Everett,

"I have an important info that would be very useful,"

"Does it have something to do with_?"

"Yeah, exactly,"

That's the only discussion that brings these two together...
