Chapter 39: Master Michu
[The School, 7:59!]
Michu usually would be energetic in the morning. He used water from the school's bathroom to wash, put his uniform on, and made his way to the class with a fresh expression. He entered the classroom quietly, then trod to his seat.
No one batted an eye at him, "The quest… I will do it today! Hehe." He whispered to himself. In this rare environment, Michu couldn't be out loud as he didn't want others to cast their attention on him.
They had said too many mean things to him Michu would rather forget about those students already.
His mind was full of the quest and the challenge awaiting him in the game world.
[The School, 11:40!]
"The break!" The students raised themselves from the chairs loudly and were relieved. The chairs creaking against the floor didn't stifle their expectations for the long break, "Let's head quickly to the shop. I need to have a smoke too."
One by one, the students from Michu's class escaped the school's gates and went outside for some fun. The longest break left every student differently; some went outside to relieve or eat and some had some tasks. For example, the class president.
"Every boy just left already! How could they leave us with all those papers?!" She shook her head dejectedly.
Her friend shrugged and pulled up the heaps of papers. Both of them struggled.
"Maybe we should ask him for help?" The class president pointed at Michu with her eyes.
However, her friend cast a weird gaze, "Don't. Do you want to get infected with poverty?" She chuckled and pushed her way out of the classroom with a mountain of papers before her eyes.
The class president didn't argue and just followed her while stumbling.
Michu flinched from those remarks. It was rare for him, but due to the game world's setting, Michu was introduced to the new world with the same background as everyone else. He had never felt such eyes on him here.
The monke got used to this feeling and once the remarks blatantly fell on him, he shivered and looked down below, "Melons are wasted on her." He replied to their remarks faintly, then his ears moved.
The sound of someone falling onto the ground reverberated through the whole corridor. Michu also could hear it clearly, so he turned his eyes. Later on, he would see the class president's friend with a bandage on her nose.
She broke her nose.
[The School, 13:45!]
"Uhh… So the last exams are approaching us with big steps. All third years should focus on it unless you want to repeat the class, then drop," The teacher threatened everyone, but his eyes looked more onto Michu whose monke's eyes had been blinking with nervousness.
Some sweat drops tumbled down his face.
The last exam! He had to do well on it, otherwise, his education would be too low! His mom hoped he would at least end the school, but if he were to fail it, then she would be too sad! His sister also reminded him often about it.
But those lessons were too hard! Just too hard! Michu always somehow passed his tests by the stroke of luck and his hard work, but this was different.
He felt completely clueless…
"M-maybe Venomous can teach me?" Michu thought, "I want to see beautiful Yumi in real life, so maybe she would agree…" What Venomous had dreaded was now coming with big steps toward her.
-
[A week after Michu began the farmer subclass quests.]
"Master Michu!" The players exclaimed simultaneously while surrounding the monke. They had been cheering on him as he did one of many quests for his farmer subclass. This time, the monke had to grow the banana herb.
It was one of the last quests that would begin the farmer class!
All players clenched their hands. Most of them ended up squashing their water bottles, though. Without this holy liquid, they wouldn't be able to survive even half a day. However, Michu was different.
He did quest after quest and Farmer Daria often used him as a guiding light for the newbie players.
Yes, all players around Michu were newbies that unknowingly became too invested in Michu's subclass quests. Shouldn't they be the ones to focus on their quests, though? That was the case, but Michu's presence had some effects as well.
His voice soon rang out, "I can do it…. I can do it… The banana herb, my friend…" It was like a magic chant, but Michu had failed numerous times already. His heart throbbed each time he failed the task, but his fondness and care for the banana herbs allowed him to get this nice crowd.
They wanted to get tips from him but ended up receiving the motivational chant. In this important step, every player gave up on their quests and looked over Michu's banana herb's seed that began to sprout out.
The quest had simple content; focus on the seed and make it sprout. However, the fantasy kicked in and made Michu's whole quest wholly different. He held a wooden straw in his right hand.
He often dangled it around the seed while it had been growing up slowly.
Of course, it was slow for the fantasy world's standard. Michu and other players' eyes could see the seed's growth with the naked eye.
The moment the growth stopped, Michu's job was to provide the water. He had to do it quickly, nearly instantly. Otherwise, the seed would stop and wither.
After gaining enough experience, Michu could see the minimal changes within its growth. His eyes suddenly dilated, then straw went to the bucket. He sucked the water, then pointed his straw at the seed.
Soon, it completely stopped growing, but Michu's straw had been fountaining already!
Nonetheless, the seed ended up dispersing and Michu's eyes grew sad, "No… I was so sure…" He lamented out loud, but the players cheered on him.
A lady with an amiable smile patted Michu's back then offered, "Do you want me to splash some water on you, Master Michu?" She was a thirty-three years old woman that took the farmer class as a hobby.
It was how the world was mostly separated. While the youngsters took the battle scenes for themselves, the majority of older people took productive classes as their focus.
Michu's crowd was filled with those people, "I want! Thank you!" After Michu gave a thumbs up, the lady poured water down on him and enjoyed his relieved face.
During the quest, it would be impossible to enjoy such treatment. It would instantly get noticed by the system and the failure would be the next course of events.
The Sun's torment had never ended and it was part of each quest in the greenhouse.
The players commented, "I can't withstand it… It's just too much! I know that this makes things interesting in the game, but I would love to go around the farm and enjoy some skills already!"
"Hah! City guy!" The guy from the farmer family raised his chin, "It's actually a well-done replica of the torment we farmers have to go through in real life. It will make you respect our work more now! Hah!"
"True, I feel more respect for farmers, but I would expect a real farmer to muddle through these quests easier than us. What do you say, village guy?" The city guy retorted with a snicker as the village guy also had a lot of water poured down on him.
He said, "Fantasy is too hard, city guy! Though your will to go through it is commendable. I expected city guys to fall back first."
"Oh, did you? I expected it to be different for you, but we are on the same page now!"
"Hah!"
Michu never had the pleasure to enjoy such a circle. They were all older than him and most probably already had families. He couldn't speak carelessly here, but his voice was often appreciated by everyone here.
The monke exclaimed, "It will be even harder in the future! Our level will go up and we will be invited to other kingdoms to bless their farms with our presence! Hehe!"
"Haha!" The players laughed in tandem, "If Master Michu says so, we should expect to see the center's royal kingdoms and their farms in the future!"
"If you all aim for the central, then you will surely achieve it one day! I believe in everyone who works hard!" Michu laughed out loud.
The players surprised him, "If we find a special banana farm, then we will either question the owner whether Master Michu was here or we will call you to come and examine! Haha!" In such a way, Michu became friends with all older players.
They added each other to the friend list.
From afar, Daria commented, "He united every player together? That's a rare sight. Although we are a pretty pacific class, we tend to enjoy challenges and competition too," Daria's voice flowed to one of her close co-workers.
The man sighed, "We never won with those from the central, though."
"Ah, come on! Don't sour the mood like that!" Daria slapped the man so hard that he staggered on the ground, then tumbled down.
She then shouted, "Don't cheat, all of you!" Her voice startled players who were treating the greenhouse as their meeting players!
"It's city guys who are more talkative! Beat them, Daria!" The villager guy suddenly threw some spicy words.
"No, no, no! It's the villagers who complain too much about this world's farming! Sucks to be them! Please, beat them, Daria!"
Michu just laughed and stood together with the ladies who didn't want to banter like that. It was because Daria actually seemed like a person who would beat all of them.
This happened a few moments minutes later, "See? I told you, Master Michu."
"I didn't expect Daria to beat them! But is it because they are of the same age?" Michu asked, then mentioned the handsome dude who had passed him valuable tips. He asked the ladies for some and they all showered him with their experiences…
The monke's head steamed later on!
