Chapter 41: Just ask her out
On the royal farm, the monke had two important tasks. The first one was to raise the banana herbs in the blink of an eye. This task taught him that the banana herbs in the royal farm died very often.
It was as if their whole vitality was sucked by bananas so that they could taste better! This was one of the techniques that Michu instinctively understood and would utilize himself in the future.
For now, he just mourned over dead banana herbs and clenched their seeds tightly, "You will breathe a new life to this world." He continued with his task and more banana herbs grew up to unimaginable heights under his leadership.
This was the skill called Nourishing Water. In his inventory, Michu had reserves of water prepared by Daria's people. He just had to use the skill to pour it down around and make those herbs grow in the blink of an eye.
The soil was already prepared and so Michu just had to use his staff to bring out the water.
The second task was the most pleasant one.
It was harvesting.
Back in his early days, the monke would climb the banana herb, throw bananas into the basket and jump to another.
This was different from the harvesting skill! For farmers, it would be just Harvest Skill. Michu called it Banana Flow, however.
Tapping the banana herb, Michu forced all those bananas to flow down. Like ants under the ant queen's command, the bananas went straight to his inventory in a row. This row ended just close to Michu as his inventory was 'within him'.
These two tasks brought completely two opposite emotions that had been coursing through Michu for many days.
After he grew more familiar with his skills, Michu realized that the rewards from all of those filled his inventory with more than two thousand bananas!
"You got a few bonuses from me," Daria chuckled and patted the monke's shoulder.
He raised his eyes, concealing a lot of affection and disbelief, then continued to look at Daria with the expression of utmost gratitude. This took her by surprise and she didn't even know how to react.
Did he like the bananas that much?
Two thousand bananas meant that Michu could make two golden bananas! It was the reason why his eyes teared up, making him look like an angel descended before him. Alas, the banana angel wasn't in the world.
The farmer slapped his cheek and said, "If you want more bananas, then just work! Perhaps you want to get even more with such cute expressions? Dream on." Daria turned heels and left Michu alone!
He just shouted before she left, "Thank you for your help! I will come soon!" Yes, it was time for Michu's return, so the farmer didn't bother with his eyes glazed with affection towards the bananas.
Michu also turned around and glanced over at players in the greenhouse, "I am done with my quests! It's time for my return, so thanks for your company! Hehe! Bye-bye!" Michu waved his hands and others reciprocated his feelings by either smiling or waving back at him.
After many steps, Michu trod out of the royal castle and entered the city where more players scattered around. Happiness within his eyes faded, or more likely, turned into another resolution that pushed him back to Mountain Cliff City.
It would be a long journey, but Michu sprinted with no problems at all.
-
Next day.
"It's the weekend! A perfect day to begin my banana farm!" Michu exclaimed after waking up. He wrapped his futon, went to the bathroom then, looked at the VR Capsule, "This is a special day, an occasion where I will give up on early training." He said and opened the capsule.
However, his sister also woke up and called him out, "Michu!" She sounded serious despite rubbing her eyes and still being half-asleep.
Nana said, "Did you speak with Venomous?"
Michu flinched and looked back at the capsule, "I didn't…" Both of them spoke about Michu's exams that were near the corner.
Even though Nana never had problems in school, she was still younger and Michu didn't want her to focus on what he had to go through. It would be an additional burden, so he talked about the idea to ask Venomous, and ever since then, Nana had been asking him about it.
But Michu found no time to speak with Yumi.
"Lies!" Nana read through her brother's eyes with ease, "Are you scared to ask her? I am sure she knows about our situation. So her impression of a big brother won't change if she sees you in real life."
"I will ask soon! I promise!" Michu believed his sister, but part of him reminded him of the eyes of other ladies in his classroom. Though they were younger than Venomous, the gap was not big and they all looked at him with disdain and scorn.
The monke brightened, though, "I am not ashamed of my mother and sister! Sorry, Nana!"
"Don't apologize, stupid brother," Nana teared up and hid within the blanket. She understood her brother's words, though. She just hoped that there wouldn't be some misunderstanding between Michu and Venomous if she were to reject this meeting.
She then peeked and asked, "What about Sandra? Do you spend time with her?" Nana and Sandra were especially close as Michu's sister ended up loving the editing. She even edited some video samples already!
That was why she asked and looked forward to Michu's answer! "She hit level 25 together with Yumi, so everyone went their own way to get subclasses and new quests! I also worked too much on the farm with other players…"
"She is so patient and nice with me, so repay her in the game, big brother!" Nana requested!
Michu didn't disappoint, "Yeah! I will give her my banana!" He said and his sister shook her head with how ambiguous it sounded.
She then found out that Michu's face blushed deeply and he looked far different than before. It was the first time she had such a scarlet blush on his face, so stupor hit her. Under her widened eyes, Michu corrected himself, "I will give… my golden inheritor's banana for a new skill…." He embarrassingly said, then entered the VR Capsule.
After a moment of silence, Nana's shock dispersed, "Big brother is really changing! The game was a heaven-sent gift!" She thought about the person and his company that gave them this opportunity to taste 'normal' life.
Nana glanced at the laptop and whispered to herself, "Michu has a lot of work to do. How can I help?" The first idea that popped into Nana's mind was to learn more about editing, but the quality of her edits would satisfy total newcomers who wouldn't even be able to pay for her work.
From too much thinking, Nana could no longer sleep. She stood up, did the morning routine, then practiced more of her editing skills before the laptop.
