I couldn't breathe at all, not even with both my hands struggling to remove one of his own. It was as though the life was being sucked out of me slowly. The chain cut through my throat, causing it to bleed like the pouring rain. There were barely seconds remaining before the gold wire-like chain would slit my throat.
Not a cry could escape my mouth as I realised that the devil had captured his soul or taken over it again. My heart sank as it thought that the deadline for saving him had been pushed back. The pendant that healed my wounds wasn't with me and there was no way I could be cured once the chain touched my bobbing, gargling throat.
My dazed, fighting mind finally remembered the knife in my pocket. Releasing the grip of my right hand from his hands to act like I had passed out. Instead of becoming weaker, like I had expected, it only hardened and quickened the process of my death.
