Chapter 2 - 2

"How was practice yesterday?," Ashton comes from behind me making me jump lightly.

"Well if you stayed to watch you would understand that I totally screwed up on that same note again," I grumbled annoyed.

"Oooh," Ashton mumbled.

"What did our Betty say?" Ashton asked.

"Nothing actually, she wasn't upset because she knew how difficult that note is and said it would be fine if I toned it down because it isn't mandatory," I rolled my eyes.

"Isn't that good?"

"Not for me, I need to hit that note no matter what," I grumbled.

"If you can't do it right now don't worry about it, you're going to strain your voice, after all it's not mandatory correct?," Ashton sighed.

"That note is the whole emotion I'm trying to put in the song," I groaned.

Realizing we got to our last class we make our way inside and we sit in the middle as I slam my head on the desk dramatically.

"What's up with her?," our friend Semi asked.

"Work," Ashton whispered.

"You got a job Calista?," Semi sounded amused.

"Yes now leave me alone," I grumbled.

"Don't get your panties in a twist babe," he laughed.

"Semi shut it," I warned.

"I'm just teasing you," Semi sighed and laughed.

β€”

After our class I get up from my seat and grab my books and pencil bag, when I get a call. I slide my screen and notice it's Lunas high school.

"Hello?," I mumbled.

"Hello this is the principal from Lincoln high is this Ms. Muniz?," a women spoke from the other line.

"Uhm yes what's this about?," I mumbled.

"Uhm we have your sister here in our office, she got in a fight with another student," the principal informed.

"What?," I asked confused.

"It's best if you come to the school right now to get everything sorted out."

"Okay," I sighed deeply before hanging up.

"Fucking shit," I mumbled annoyed.

"What's wrong?," Ashton asked.

"Luna got in a fight at school."

"I-is she okay?-" Ashton stuttered.

"I don't know okay I just have to go now."

I grab the pack of cigarettes in my bag lighting one feeling my body start to shake out of anger, and anxiety.

"That's a bad habit," Ashton sighed.

"Her teeth are going to fall out before 30 at this point," Semi chuckled.

"Oh shut that hole of yours," I mumbled before taking a deep breath in.

I start walking fast towards the door opening it wide when suddenly someone bumps into me and spilled a bit of their drink on my shirt.

"Watch where your going dipshit," I groaned and walked away before even looking at the person.

I know I shouldn't take out my anger on anyone because they are innocent, but right now was not the time or the day to mess with me.

"Great," I grumbled as I try to clean off the stain on my gray sweater.

β€”

I soon got to the school and walk in the building, heading towards the principal office.

I walked in seeing Luna sitting inside on the right side of room with a bruised cheek, a cut lip, and a black eye. Quickly I make my way towards her, touching her cheek softly and feeling the tears ready to burst out of my eyes as I see my little sister in such a state no one wishes to see a loved one in. I turn my gaze and see another little girl crying hysterically with just a bruised cheek as her mom holds on to her as the principal looks at them with worry. I can feel the anger bubble up in my body as I realize that no one was paying attention to my sister knowing she was the more injured one here.

"Uhm Ms. Muniz please take a seat," the principal instructed, I keep my cool and sit down next to Luna as I hold onto her hand softly.

"We called you here because Luna here started a fight with Lily, this little girl," she mumbled, I nod my head.

"Luna hasn't spoken since we brought her in so we'd like to hear her side of the story of what exactly happened."

"Isn't it clear Mrs. Anderson that crazy little girl came after my sweet angel-" the women started to shout.

I glare at her quickly before turning my attention on Luna once again.

"Hey babe," I cut off the mom as I lift up Lunas face to meet my gaze.

"What happened?," I asked, but she stays quiet.

"You can tell me anything you know that right?," I smiled softly at her.

Lunas eyes start to water and she hugs me softly mumbling sorry over and over again.

"It's okay, it's okay," I whispered "now tell us what happened."

"I- I was walking to art class- I was g-going to drop the painting of you off to Mr. Atonal," she went quiet a cried a bit more.

"Oh please-," the mother butted it.

I turn my gaze at the mother and glare at her "I presume your child has already spoken hm? Now let mine," I mumbled annoyed.

I rub Lunas back softly and hug her tighter.

"Lily stopped me in the middle of the hall and pulled me into a corner, I-I thought she was just going to pick on me like she always does b-but she made a comment about y-you," Luna stuttered.

"What did she say?," I asked, Luna shakes her head softly.

"I don't want to say."

"It's okay babe I can take it," I mumbled.

"She called you a w-whore that should have never been b-born, that you weren't that pretty and the only reason I was getting r-really high scores at my paintings were because you messed with o-our art teacher," Luna cried.

"I-I n-never said that-," the little girl started.

"Lily sh," the principal mumbled.

"Well you know that's not true babe," I tried to laugh.

"I said that and she grabbed my painting before throwing it on the floor and s-stepping on your face I-I couldn't h-hold in my anger, then I slapped h-her," she sighed "I-I know I should never hit anyone b-but I didn't like the way she treated you, I regretted it after when her group ganged up o-on me during the last period."

"This child is obviously lying Ms. Anderson," the mother argued.

"We have surveillance Mrs. Jacobs and it was your daughter that made the first move on Luna, we were hoping that your daughter would say the truth but that wasn't the case," the principal sighed.

"I don't believe it, my daughter is an angel she would never do that," the mother cried fakely.

"Here's the footage of earlier, as you can see your daughter pulled Luna aside and started pushing her down, Luna said the truth, so," the principal stood up and sighed.

"From this behavior your daughter will not be able to come back to school for a month and will be put in detention center until the board reaches a conclusion, Luna will receive one week of detention for hitting Lily of course," Ms. Anderson mumbled.

"Why is this reaching the board they just had a fight?," the mother asked.

"As you can see Lunas face is very much damaged and if anything were to happen to her senses or if she has any broken bones, your daughter led the attack and we do not accept that in our school."

"But my daughter also got hurt."

"Yes and that's why Lily will be going to a week of detention."

"That's not fair-," suddenly the principal slams her hands on the table.

"Mrs. Jacobs I don't think you comprehend what could actually happy towards your daughter," Ms. Anderson sighed.

"What do you mean?"

"Like I said if anything is wrong with Luna Ms.Muniz is able to take legal action and call for either a restraining order, or kick your daughter out of this school district, after all this is assault, she can sue you."

"Can we leave, we have to go to the hospital," I mumbled and helped Luna up.

"Yes of course," tired of hearing those ladies voices Luna and I stepped out of the office.

Before we walk any further I notice her limping, I sigh lightly and bend down, I pat my back.

"What?," Luna mumbled.

"You can't walk correctly just get on my back until we reach outside so I can call a cab," I mumbled.

"Okay.."

"Where does it hurt?"

"My leg is in pain as well as my t-thumb, I can't make a f-fist," I can hear the worry in her voice.

"You'll be fine, we are going to the hospital close to the apartment, I'm here for you babe."

"Thank you Calista," Luna cried lightly.

β€”

Luna has been crying in her room for the past 2 hours, tired of hearing her I grab the bottle of whiskey on the top shelf where it is locked.

I can feel my body shutting down after everything that has happened today.

At the hospital the doctor told us Luna won't be able to use her hand for a month due to the damage on her thumb, she will be having surgery done next week, but it is not certain that her hand will ever be the same. Her leg was also put in a cast since it was strained, but I know she was hurting more because of the thought that she won't be able to paint anymore.

I tried to talk to her how I was going to try my best to find her everything she needed for her to get back on track, but she just kept quiet.

I called Ashton on the way out so he can find me a good lawyer to sue Mrs. Jacobs daughter.

As I hear Luna crying I go to her door and knock.

"Hey babe can I come in?," I mumbled.

"Leave me alone.... please... just leave," she cried out.

I felt my heart stop and grabbed the whiskey before chugging it down, I knew this was going to hurt Luna when I heard the news, but I won't let her quit so easily on something she is so talented on.

I slid down on the floor and laid my head back.

I thought of a way to calm her down when I remembered I haven't sang to her in a while.

"I never thought that You would be the one to hold my heart

But you came around

And you knocked me off the ground from the start

You put your arms around me

And I believe that it's easier for you to let me go

You put your arms around me and I'm"

I here her get off her bed and shuffle to the door, I hear the click of her unlocking it and I feel the door open. I look up and see Luna's eyes swollen and her nose runny, I frown and I feel tears leave my eyes, I reach my arms out and Luna's body collapses on me.

"Home" Luna mumbled.
