Ushijima's POV//
"Ushijima! Hello!?," Semi waved his hand in front of me.
"Don't bother he's been outta of it since yesterday," Shirabu mumbled annoyed as he picked at his food.
"What are you talking about?," Semi asked.
"So yesterday the team made a bet at whoever lost at a game of Rock Paper Scissors they would pay for dinner," Shirabu began and I roll my eyes before looking at a door.
"You guys can't do that to Ushijima when we all know he always picks rock," Semi gasped.
"Anyways," Shirabu chuckled "while we waited outside our big boy here got a little smitten with some girl there."
"Ooooo so does she work there?"
"Nope just getting food like the rest of us, and now Ushijima is day dreaming about the mystery princess at the Chinese restaurant," Tendo laughed.
"I'm not day dreaming of her," I mumbled.
I lied.
I was.
The dimwits however don't know that I've run across her in Semi and I's class once, but of course I wasn't going to tell them that.
"Yes you are! We know all your expressions and that one you have on since yesterday is new and we all know why!," Tendo wiggles his fingers to me.
"Shut up," I mumbled before grabbing my things and begin to walk away from my team.
"Hold up Ushijima you didn't even let me tell you what the team and I are doing later on tonight," Semi walked behind as the rest of the group followed.
"Practicing I hope."
"Very funny but no," Semi stopped right in front of me as he holds my shoulder "we are planning to go to a small bar slash club that one of my friends works at."
"Not going," I shrugged his hands off and began to walk away.
"Since we moved to the Americas you haven't even went out to have fun, all you've done is practice, don't you want to have a life?," Tendo yelled from behind me.
I shake my head annoyed.
I didn't move here to party my life away, I came for volleyball and that's all. I don't really care for fun because playing makes me happy, plus back at home in Japan the boys invited me to a party and in the end I had to drop them off all home which wasn't really fun for me.
I know I should hang out with my friends more but I'm busy getting better, ever since I lost that match I've thought of myself as a loser. I trained day and night to be beaten by wingless crows? Do you not know how that tarnished my record back home.
However I'm glad they won, they were truly an amazing team and did their very best at volleyball, I guess I'm just upset that I couldn't be where they were at.
I was walking back to my apartment when I see my doorman waving at me from afar.
"Ushijima!," I lightly jog to him.
"Yes?"
"Package from home," he smiled up at me.
"Thanks," I mumbled before heading inside.
I walk into my home and turn on my lights to only see Jasmine asleep on the couch.
Annoyed I slam the box down to wake her up.
"Ushi-," I grab her shorts from the floor and throw them at her as she rubbed her eyes awake.
"What the hell?," Jasmine mumbled angrily.
"Didn't I tell you to leave this morning?," I sat down on my chair as I set my things on the floor.
"I'm sorry I guess I got caught up watching the show and fell asleep again," she lied.
"Didn't I also tell you to stop coming over a week ago?"
"I was having a hard time and I needed someone there for me okay?"
"Just because we hooked up a few times doesn't mean we are dating- hell it doesn't even mean that I'm your friend," I rolled my eyes annoyed.
"Why do you have to shut me out Ushijima?," Jasmine frowned.
Since I've moved here Jasmine was the first person to come up to me with intentions to sleep with me, of course I didn't really care and gave into what she wanted, but now she wants more. She wants a relationship and I can't do that for her, sure we slept together but I wasn't interested in her to the point of wanting her as my girlfriend. That's what I told her since the beginning. She does this every time she gets in an argument with her parents and runs to me for pleasure, and now comfort. I don't want her to think what we are doing is going to lead to something more because it's not, especially since I can't get that girl out of my head.
"Just get out, I'll call a cab to get you home," I mumbled and grabbed my phone.
"Whatever, you still let me in last night and the week before," Jasmine rolled her eyes as she puts on her shorts.
"Well not anymore," I mumbled.
"What's your problem?," she sighed and turned to me before she walks out.
"What?-," I sighed.
"I'm wanted by so many guys and I'm over here giving you the attention they are begging for."
"I never asked for that attention babe," I smirked and leaned down to her.
"Well we'll see who's going to call me back to apologize for being a jerk," she huffed and opened the door before slamming it shut.
"I highly doubt that," I laughed underneath my breath and sit on my couch when my phone rings notifying me I got a text.
-here's the address to the get together:)
-please come hang out with us!!
-I'll pay for everything and there's a crap ton load a beautiful ladies here!;)
-please!!!
-prettyyyyyy please!!!
I roll my eyes at Semi's spam of text messages.
I wasn't planning on going since I wanted to sleep the night away, but because of Jasmine I was stressed out and needed a drink.
Before I knew it I walked into my room and into my closet before changing into a dark gray turtle neck, black jeans, and a red large sweater over since it was December. I fix my hair a bit and grabbed my wallet before checking the time and realizing it was way to early for the get together and decide to walk to a near by coffee shop for some hot chocolate.(My art in the comment section ;))
"Welcome!," one of the worker calls as I walk through the door, I do a quick nod and sit down near the window.
It was so cold that you could see people trying not to fall as they walk, it hasn't snowed yet though meaning it might tomorrow or in a few hours.
"Can I sit with you?," I look up to see a girl with brunette hair and green eyes touching the seat in front of me.
"Sure," I mumbled and look away.
"Sorry, it's just I saw you sitting alone and thought maybe you needed company," she said.
"Mmm," I sigh and lean back on my chair.
"I'm Taylor by the way," from the corner of my eye I see her reach out her hand to me.
"Ushijima," I shook her hand.
"Your not from here right?," Taylor smiled to me.
"Japan," I mumbled.
"That's cool, so what did you order?," she asked.
"Haven't ordered yet."
"Oh then," she waves for a waiter.
"Hello, what would you like?," the young boy looked at her.
"I'd like a Flat White, and he'd like-," Taylor turns to me.
"Hot chocolate," I said.
The young boy walks away as Taylor turns to me and laughs lightly "would've thought you'd ask for a espresso or something, not a hot chocolate."
"The weather is perfect," I sighed.
I was very much annoyed at this point due to her voice, I said sure because I didn't want to be rude, but now I can't stand this chick for some reason.
"So why are you alone? I mean you're an attractive guy, is your girlfriend busy?," ah of course the assuming I have a girlfriend line many girls have used before.
"I don't have a girlfriend," I mumbled.
"And friends?"
"Probably getting ready right now," I looked down at my watch .
The young boy walks back up to us and hands us out drinks before walking away quickly.
"Going out later?," Taylor asked as she took a sip of her coffee.
"Yeah," I drank my hot chocolate before looking out the window.
Suddenly the doors of the coffee shop open loudly.
"Bitch get inside! I want to get a fucking espresso before work," a guy with blonde hair ran in and took a seat in the middle of the shop.
"I need a vodka more than a coffee," a girl answered as she walks towards him and taking off her beanie, I recognized that voice and I can feel my heart start to beat a bit faster than normal.
"Ew," the guy scrunched up his face and hit her hand lightly.
Right when she turned I knew it was the girl from before.
"We have like an hour to spare Ash why are we here?," she grumbled.
"Coffee duh," he flicked her head "just go sit down."
The girl sits down and puts her head on the table as the guy orders.
"How rude, can they make anymore noise?," Taylor rolled her eyes and smiled to me.
I looked out the window taking a few glance at the mysterious girl.
"Ask if they have whiskey anything with liquor," I heard her order the guy.
Taylor scoffs and turns to me.
"You'll never see me like that," she mumbled.
"Like what?," I sighed and looked at the park right outside the coffee shop.
"Drinking at this hour, pretty pathetic," Taylor scrunched up her face as I turn to see the girl drink down a glass of whiskey as they get up and walk out the door towards the park in front.
"Not really," I mumbled annoyed.
"I mean drinking is alright to me, but this early, like come on at least wait till it's night," Taylor laughed.
I sat there for at least another 5 minutes with her asking to many questions till I finally stood up to pay.
"Hey where are you going?," Taylor called from behind me.
"Get together," I mumbled as the worker passes me back my card.
"Ooo where maybe I can meet you there," Taylor walked beside me.
I gave her a small glance "no offense you're a complete stranger to me so I wouldn't like to share that information with you," I sighed.
"Ushijima?," ignoring her I walk out and make a few turns to make sure she won't follow me.
I hear my phone ring and pick up without checking the caller.
"Wakatoshiiii I see youuu," Tendo laughed.
"Sure you do," I rolled my eyes.
"Okay, I don't see you but I know where your at," he chuckled.
"No shit, I have my locations on."
"God you're no fun, anywayss are you coming later, the boys and I are currently walking to the bar now."
"Is that Ushijima?," I heard Semi in the background.
"Yeah," Tendo said.
"Tell him that he better come because my friend is performing today!," Semi yelled.
"I think he heard you," Shirabu laughed.
"His friend doesn't mean anything to me," I mumbled.
"She needs the tips Ushijima please," Semi begged.
"Are we going to a bar or strip club?," I grumbled.
"It's bar slash club slash performance place," Tendo said in a sassy way.
"Well if your saying tips do I have to go get money out?," I mumbled and rubbed my head.
"Yes! Let me pay pal you money to take out for me since I can't let Semi pay for all the drinks," Kawanishi yelled.
"But y'all made me pay for dinner," I said sarcastically.
"You have money we on the other hand, work," Tendo sighed.
"I work," I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah at home on your desktop," Tendo laughed.
Not wanting to pick a fight I just mumble a quick yes and hang up. I walk to the corner of the sidewalk and wave my hand till a taxi stops near me, I tell them my destination and arrive there in a few minutes. I grab the cash and head down to the subway and sit down looking around.
By the time I reached the street we were suppose to meet at I was 10 minutes late and they decided to hold a chair for me, I turn a corner to only be surprised to see the girl from before.
She was wearing a tight corset and a short skirt revealing her legs that were covered in socks and her black hair down as she holds up a box of cigarettes.
Caught up by her sudden appearance and clothing I jumped back lightly as my phone begins to ring.
"Hurry up! My friend is about to perform!," Semi yelled and quickly the call ended, annoyed by the sudden yell and losing my train of focus I put my hands in my pocket and walk towards the bar sign the girl was standing underneath.
Before I can pass by her I hear a soft yet loud voice from behind me.
"Do you have a lighter?"
"No.."with the fear of stuttering I don't look at her and begin to walk away until I notice snow slowly start to fall from the sky.
And without thinking.
"Smoking is bad for you by the way," I said with a straight face and turn to her.
"Maybe I like what's bad for me," she smiled lightly and walked into the bar.
Crap.
