Chapter 18 - Chance Meeting

"We have gained quite the reward for capturing Kaylan." Velyn explained as Jimmy approached the Succubi. He saw Belva and Zaniva standing next to her, with Sillis jumping up and down slightly.

"Let us move!" Sillis exclaimed.

"What's gotten into you?" Jimmy asked.

Belva sighed, saying. "Sillis here has a love for books, even though she never really spends that much time reading them." she looked at the happy yellow hair succubi. "Prior to meeting you, she had her eyes fixated on a particular book."

Jimmy raised his eyebrow.

"It's a chivalric romance." Belva said sourly. "The one involving saving a princess."

"Pfft"

"Putting that aside Jimmy, would it be alright if we check this book store?" Zaniva asked. "I know we should really get a move on elsewhere, but at the same time we shouldn't be so stressed about this. Without combined strength, we can take on any foe."

"But we're not invincible!" Belva yelled in telepathy towards Zaniva, who raised an eyebrow.

"We shall settle that later." Zaniva replied telepathically. "Let us indulge in relaxation before we have to move to Werth with that Dimebag."

"Are we actually going to go there?"

"As often as I have been on this Earth, I tend to not care about surroundings and names, so it's best we go there."

The bookstore Sillis had her eyes on had a very warm coat of brown alongside it's wood. It was golden brown, and it was shining brightly for her. The sight of a large blue book on its sign was as clear as day for Jimmy. He looked at the other buildings that contained merchandise.

He recalled certain businesses having names to differentiate from one another, such as the De Fleur for flowers, or Beauty's Dungeon for perfume and among other beauty products for the women here in the town of Sepwick.

Jimmy and the other succubi followed Sillis into the book store. The excited Sillis went inside, ringing its inside bell in the process.

"Welcome," said the bookkeeper briefly. "It's been a while since I've had this many customers."

"We have recently received our well earned coins." Zaniva said as she winked at Jimmy and Belva. "And we are looking to buy some books for our long journey.

"By all means! Go ahead. I shall be in the back if you need me-" the bookkeeper stopped his speech, as he looked at Jimmy. "Are you sick sir?"

"A bit." Jimmy lied before he pointed at his snake eyes. "This is a rare condition."

"Hmm, I would strongly recommend that you carry a medical book with you, hang on."

"You two go on ahead." Belva spoke. "Velyn and I will keep an eye on Sillis." She soon followed Velyn to keep up with Sillis. Belva's eyes were greeted by a large row of shelves with the word ENTERTAINMENTS written on it.

Looks like this is fictional stories humans create with their imaginations, she thought, as Sillis was examining the books at the far end of the store. Belva looked at the books, many of them having a fresh coat of various colors including, red, green and blue. She tilted her head slightly, looking at the titles of the books.

"Annabelle's Light?" she raised her eyebrow, taking out the book and skimming through the pages. Every 10 to 20 pages, there would be a drawn panel of the characters in the book, in this case, the detailed drawings of the lead characters.

Impressive, Belva placed the book back towards the shelf. She then examined the other books titles on their respective sides. Among them were titles such as "The Journey of a Magicborn", "Rise of the Great Shield Paladin" and "Demonic Virtue."

Humans can have such wild imaginations, Belva examined the books by their title. Soon, she was met with a pair of striking blue eyes.

She yelped, and proceeded to fall onto the floor.

"I'm sorry." said a voice, Belva looked up to see a young man dressed in dark green olive armor. The said armor wasn't metallic by any means, rather, it was light in volume, it's design was thin and was meant to fit its user.

Belva looked up at the young man, his jet black hair was as equally striking as his blue eyes. He extended his arm, as Belva took it. For her, his grip was strong and warm as he helped her get back onto her feet.

"Such a gentleman." Velyn spoke as she approached the two. Belva turned to see her, as well as Sillis finally having a book in her hands, one that she'll cherish and presumably read a thousand times. Belva and Velyn knew this, knowing that they, along with Zaniva, have been seducing humans to deadly situations as well as being in their human disguises for quite a while.

"I hope I didn't alarm you too much." the young man spoke. An adventurer perhaps? Belva thought, looking at the man's double edged sword strapped on his belt holster in addition to his armor. "I was only looking for a book for my colleagues."

"Ah, I see." Belva said, gulping at the young man's clean face. It had been a while since she properly seduced a man.

"Hey ladies." Jimmy's voice boomed loudly. "Anything you wanna get? Cause Zaniva got her own."

"Me Jimmy!" Sillis said, running toward him with the book she had obtained.

"Come on Belva." said Velyn walking over to the counter where Jimmy and the other succubi paid for the books, then went over to the front door.

"Your name is Belva?" asked the young man. "Quite a name, might I say so myself of someone with your beauty."

Belva felt her cheeks heat up. She placed her hands against them, blocking any sight of a red blush.

"Why, thank you…."

"Langdon." the young man extended his arm again, with Belva shaking it.

"I really must go."

"Of course. Safe travels." he said with a sweet smile, as Belva ran out of the door, allowing her red face to finally shine. She looked up to see Jimmy and the other succubi, smirking and holding in their laughs.

"I mean, we could leave you there-" Jimmy teased.

"BE QUIET!" Belva shouted in embarrassment. "Let's just go on to Werth, we wouldn't want to be ambushed by Malvagia's demons."

"Yeah, sure." Jimmy rolled his eyes with a smile.
