Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

My eyes slowly flutter open as I wake from my peaceful slumber. Once again I woke up before my alarm went off. It's been a repeated cycle since I started dating Tesla. I get really excited to see her and so everything is rushed.

I sit on my bed and think of how I met her. It was raining and I had left my umbrella at home. My brother refused to bring me one and it was getting really cold. I stepped out of the building I was working in at the time and was about to walk in the rain, but an umbrella was held over my head. Of Course I was surprised and so I looked back where I found Tesla. At that time she was only an intern and would be there for a couple more months. I had just graduated from college and got an offer to work full time in the company I had interned at.

I had made a lot of enemies there but it was better than living off of my parents money. They would only try to control my life with the excuse of them paying my bills and feeding me.

So I took the job, I'm happy I did because that's how I met my main source of happiness.

I slowly get off the bed and walk to the bathroom. I've been living in an apartment since I moved out of my parents house. I had lived on campus during college while studying for a bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, journalism, communications and business. My parents were against it but I felt the need to actually go after my dream job and not study to become a lawyer like they wanted.

I look myself up and down in the mirror thinking about how much of a mess I am. My black shoulder length hair is no longer silky and straight, it's in a very messy ponytail. My t-shirt is huge and my shorts are really short.

I decide to shower first and then do everything else. I now work in a very popular company as an advertiser. I didn't have many friends in College but I made a couple while interning. Melissa and Tory.

Melissa is the daughter of the CEO and so she would hang around the hallways alot. Tory was also there for an intern but for the marketing side of the company. Tesla was there as an intern while I was working full time. She was in the field of financial management.

She was quite clumsy and would get nervous around literally everyone, I found it really cute. We are only friends but I don't want to be her friend anymore. You don't feel the urge to kiss or hold your friends. That's not something that friends do.

I step out of the shower with water dripping onto my white tiled floor. I quickly brush my teeth while thinking about how much of a pain my boss is. Always pushing me around and acting like he's the boss of me. Ofcourse he is my boss but he doesn't have that much power over me, I can quit but then I'd have to join my parents company which is not in my plan.

I start searching for my blow dryer that was last seen in my bedroom. I have a weird habit of leaving things in random places. After I find the blow dryer on my coach, I dry my hair for a couple of minutes before throwing it into another ponytail. Growing up in a Asian household, I had to learn to take care of myself from a very young age. My mom could find the smallest flaw in my appearance.

But now that I no longer live there, I can look as lazy as I want. I kinda feel bad leaving my brother there all on his own. He must be going through hell.

I check my clock to see that it's now seven thirteen and I have to be at work by eight- thirty. I pull out a pair of blue jeans and a black t-shirt with a blue jeans jack, similar to my pants. Being an advertiser doesn't require me to dress formally. Which is a major plus in my opinion.

Dressing casually is definitely not for me. I walk to the door and take my white sneakers from the shoe rack. But of course I forgot to pick up my bag and phone.

I roll my eyes at my forgetfulness, then run to my bag and phone on my couch. After picking it up I head out the door of my messy apartment.

Checking the time on my phone, it's now seven- thirty six. I call a cab on my way down the stairs. Being on the second floor is a plus for seeing that I can just take the stairs instead of waiting in the elevator. I know a lot of people rather than using elevators over stairs but I think the stairs are better. No awkward interactions with weird neighbors and no fear of the elevator suddenly stopping.

I walk down the last step and through the short hallway before finally making it outside. I didn't expect the cab to be there when I got outside so I just took out my phone to check the company's advertiser's group chat.

There's normally a lot of gossiping in here but it was all worried text messages this morning.

Ken: There's a new head for the advertisement arm of the company!!!!

Ally: I heard he was really good looking.

Georgia: He? I heard it was a she…..

Ken: No way!!! You sure?

Georgia: 100%. I never get these things wrong.

Ally: What happened to the old boss, Mr. J?

Georgia: I heard he got caught harassing a young janitor. She was pretty shaken up and he tried to deny it.

Me: If y'all don't know if it's true or not, please shut up.

Ken: Shut up, who asked you anything?

I turned off my phone not wanting to hear anymore of their crap but it started to ring soon after. The cab was pulling up at the same time. I get in the cab while answering my phone.

"Hello?" I hadn't even checked the caller's ID…. What if it's my mom?

"Hi Drew. Where are you?" I recognize the voice as Tesla's own.

" I just got in a cab. I'll be at work soon."

"Ok, did you have breakfast already? I kinda got you something." I smile at how thoughtful she was.

"I haven't, what did you get?"

"Beef sandwiches!" Her voice was filled with excitement seeing that it's her favorite and also since I had to move the phone away from my ear.

"Ok, I'll be there soon."

"Mhm, I'll be in the cafeteria." I reply with a simple "ok" before hanging up. I wasn't too far away from the building and so I got my money out.

I'm really looking forward to seeing her....
