The next afternoon after his classes, Graham met up with his parents and went to meet Agent Sanders, the FBI office was in Middleton so it took them about twenty minutes to get there. Once they met, Agent Sanders commented on how much Graham looked like his father, especially when he was younger. Apparently Agent Sanders had worked on the case when Graham had disappeared and knew Russell when he was just a few years older than Graham was now. It was hard for Graham to wrap his head around the fact that his parents had to deal with this for twenty years and they were just older than him when it happened.
Graham told his history to Agent Sanders and answered all the questions he was asked as best as he could. He had to agree with Gina that Agent Sanders was a nice person and made him feel at ease. He laughed and joked with Graham during the interview. Towards the end Agent Sanders asked if he could have some Agents pick up the stuff that was left with Chase (Graham had mentioned it earlier) so they could make sure there wasn't anything useful in it. Graham asked if he'd get it back and was assured that he would. So he agreed and thought it would save him a trip. Graham made a mental note to message Chase later to give him a heads up. The interview finished and Agent Sanders talked with his parents for a few more minutes and told them he'd let them know when he knew anything.
As they were walking out of the building Chase called him. Graham was curious as to why Chase was calling him as he didn't think the FBI would be that fast but knew the only he'd know was to answer it.
"Hey Chase, what's up?"
"Graham, I meant to call you earlier as there are people crawling all over your place and have been all day. Now they're here and want to pick up the stuff your aunt left for you. Is that okay? They don't have a warrant but said you gave permission. Is everything okay?" Chase gushed out, and Graham thought he sounded nervous. But that would be expected if out of the blue the FBI showed up at the door.
"I was going to message you that someone might be by sometime, but that was definitely faster than I thought, so sorry you didn't have a heads up. As long as they're FBI they can take it, I'll get it from them after they've looked through it."
"Can you explain, you're not in trouble are you? I'd never believe it except there are FBI agents at my door. I'm dying to know what's up, but I'm going to have to call you back after they leave, they look a little impatient."
"I'll explain everything then but I'm not in trouble, message me before you call, if I'm busy I'll let you know and call you back later."
"Okay, talk to you later."
"OK, bye." Graham hung up his phone, then turned to his parents and answered their questioning looks, "That was my friend from home, I gave Agent Sanders permission to get the stuff that she left with him and apparently they're already there. I was going to message him but they beat me to him. Apparently there were already some people up there looking at our house."
His parents nodded in understanding. "I'm sure he has lots of questions now that the FBI showed up at his door asking for things that belonged to you." Russell laughed.
"Oooh yeah. I think he's a little freaked out, but he'll call me after they leave."
"Now that you're meeting with Agent Sanders is over, we thought we could take you to dinner and you can ask us anything you'd like." Russell said.
"That would be great. Let me just message Aubrey to let her know. I'd told her I wasn't sure what I was doing and I'd keep her posted." Graham said.
"Why don't you message her while we drive?" Samantha said.
They walked to the car and got inside.
GRAHAM: My parents are taking me to dinner so I'll see you later or tomorrow?
AUBREY: I have lots of homework to catch up on so is tomorrow okay?
GRAHAM: That works, I'll miss being near you tonight, but I'll call you later.
AUBREY: I'll miss you as well. Can't wait to hear your sexy voice.
GRAHAM: You think my voice is sexy? ☺
AUBREY: Yes, Graham I do. I could listen to you all day and still love the sound of your voice.
GRAHAM: *blushes*
GRAHAM: We just pulled up to the restaurant, I'll definitely call you later, I wouldn't want to deprive you of hearing my voice.
AUBREY: Enjoy your dinner Graham. 💕
GRAHAM: 💕
Over dinner, Graham asked his parents about their lives, their background, how they met, where they grew up and loved getting to know these people who should have been a part of his life. It was weird that these two people he hadn't even met a week ago were suppose to be some of the people he knew best in life. Graham was sad to know his childhood could have been much more full and not as lonely. He also knew that it wouldn't have been perfect, he'd probably have fought with Gina, and not always got along with his parents. He also knew that he wouldn't have been as driven in his education. He remembered Noah had said he was the same person just with a more complicated past and he knew that was true. But would he be the same person he was today if he'd left the park that day so many years ago with his mom instead of whoever had taken him that day?
"Graham are you okay?" Samantha asked. Graham knew it was hard for her to call him by the name he'd known most of his life but he was grateful she was trying, even if she forgot half of the time.
"Yeah, I just got lost in though for a minute." Graham said, "Sorry."
"No need to apologize, I'm sure you need some time to wrap your head around everything."
"It's true, I do sometimes. I feel I know you a lot better now, is there anything else I should know?"
