Chapter 31 - Chapter 30

"You're saying I have 3 million dollars in a trust fund?" Graham asked.

"Actually more than that, there was 2 million put in when you were born and more added over the years. We'd put all the money we would have spent on birthdays and Christmas in it as well as a yearly contribution." Samantha explained. "We will have to talk with the lawyers to see what stipulations were put in place, I know once you were kidnapped there were extra precautions so no one could withdraw any money without it being confirmed it was actually you."

Graham's head was spinning again. He didn't know what to say, he was a millionaire, sort of. His savings he thought so highly of was nothing compared to what his parents just told him he had. He also knew that he needed to be careful who he told of this, he'd seen how people tried to get closer to Noah because they knew his family had money, but it was pretty easy to tell who they were after the rest of the house got to know them. The ones who were interested in being friends with Noah because of his money basically ignored all the rest of them at the Ark when they learned their backgrounds. He didn't want fake friends like that. He wanted to keep being simply Graham, the guy who rose above his background and succeeded because of his effort and amazing support from friends.

"It may take some time to get it open to you, so it's good you have your own money until then, not that we aren't willing to help you out too." Russell said. "But I know it's easier to have your own instead of asking."

"I'm almost scared to ask now but is there anything else I should know?"

"I think that covered the majority of it. If you're okay with it we're going to try to keep the fact we've found you away from the public for now. And if we can't we'll ask that they don't take photos and we'll only use Grant to describe you and give no indication of the name you go by now." Russell said.

"That's fine, I'm not ready to be instantly famous." Graham said.

"We'd also love to have you visit us after you graduate and you can meet your other relatives. Your grandparents will want to meet you." Samantha said. Graham already knew Gina was the only sibling he had and his mom was an only child but his dad had a brother who was married and he had two cousins. After only knowing of one (not real) living relative his whole life it seemed like a lot of people, but he knew some families had a lot more people in them. Graham felt relieved that he didn't have to keep track of more relatives, it would have been overwhelming.

"If you want to plan on me coming mid week after graduation so I can wind up things here, that would be around the 12th. Sorry that graduation is the day before Mother's Day. I'd have loved to spend that day with you at home." Graham said.

"We'll be here for your graduation so we'll just not return until Monday and then I can spend mothers day with both of my children for the first time." Samantha choked up. Russell put his arm around her.

Soon afterward the waiter brought the check and his parents paid for it and they left. During their discussion, Chase had messaged him but Graham let him know he was busy. As his parents drove him back home he messaged Chase to let him know he would be able to call in a half an hour. Chase said he'd be free. Graham was sure he made it so he'd be free even if it wasn't convenient.

His parents dropped him off and Graham went inside. He said hi to John and Oliver who were in the living area and then headed to his room. He called Chase.

"Hey Graham, so what's with the FBI?"

"It's a bit of a story, are you free for a bit?"

"I'm not hanging up until I know what's going on now. So however long it takes."

"So this is on the down low right now. Please don't tell others."

"Small town I'm sure there will be questions."

"I know, but can you just say they want to talk to my aunt in connection with a case they're working on. And that's all you know?"

"Yeah I can do that, so let's hear the real story."

Graham explained what was going on.

"Wow. Just wow. This is so crazy, you can't make stuff like this up!"

"I know. I keep learning new things and my whole life could have been so different. I could have been so different. I would never have known you or your family. I would have had both parents and a sister."

"So when you called to ask about your aunt a few days ago..."

"Yeah, I have no clue where she went. I'm hoping she said something in the stuff she left with you but I won't see it until they go through it. Although they may tell me when they find out information. More likely, they'd tell my parents and I'd hear from them."

"Well if you need any help or anything, let me know."

"Thanks Chase, I appreciate it. But you keeping this to yourself would be the main thing I need right now."

"Will do."

"I'll let you know when it's okay for you to tell anyone."

They talked for a while longer and Graham was able to answer the questions Chase had. He felt he owed it to Chase, especially since he wasn't going to give Graham's stuff away to the FBI without checking first. He'd even checked to see if they had a warrant. Graham felt he'd definitely have to do something to help Chase out in the future when he could.
