Chapter 1 - Prologue

She layed down right by the river side staring into the sky, her hands stretched out. You would think she was pulling down a star. It was crazy but her mind went to the movie they had just watched " Before the Fall " It was how humans lived right before everything ended and how they struggled to survive. The greatest part was how those scientist predicted it all and arrangements had been made years before the earth was plunged in a new age. If it wasn't part of their history she would term it as fiction or fake.

It was funny how what they were watching was the nightmare of the people 300 years and 10 days back. it was funny how a few weeks back she was sure that the world was going to have a big change. Her parents did tell her to still be careful but the world had been more than peaceful. As scientist they explained to her that they had only been a few tremors nothing more even if they were changes it would only be small scaled.

Lost in thoughts her phone rang bringing her back to reality " Hey "

" Lana where are you ? Are you trying to live your crazy imagination...." before she went dead from her friends yelling she kept the phone far away from her ear.

Not surprising she could still hear her , she kind of pitied the people who were around her. During the next body check the doctor will probably give them a bad hearing tick and a hearing aid. At least she knew she definitely needed one.

"Lana are you even listening. " oh it was obvious she was getting angry if she was near her she would probably see fumes. " of course who could ignore you. it was the network it cut for a second. " she hurriedly blamed the network in case she asked her to tell her what she said.

" By the way am on my way so don't worry to much bye " she cut the call before her anger rose another notch.

Stuffing the phone she got up and began to leave. Right by the river bank a shine flashed fast it reflected in her glasses despite her backing it. Curiosity made her turn back to check it. Everything was normal so she waited another flash came but this time she was able to detect its exact location , moving closely she crept quietly like it was alive though she knew it was impossible.

Right by the bank where heaps of rocks kneeling she carefully stared at those rocks not wanting to miss it. Her phone rang but she ignored it. Another flash caught her eyes, staring at the black stone she grabbed her bag by her side and fished out a spoon and a cloth bag while keeping her eyes on the stone like it would vanish. She had actually picked up useless things countless of times with so much care as long at it caught her eyes it did not matter what it was.

She gently used the spoon to dig around the stone , it was kind of big but not something that could not be carried at least it looked that way. It looked at least twice her fist , she used the cloth bag as a glove to grab it and carefully turn it inside out to store it it was kind of strangely light weight unlike what she thought.

' rngggg rrrnnngg ' her phone rang yet again. She shook off her thoughts and saw it was her friend without picking the call the stuffed the bag in her backpack. She hurriedly got up to run towards the camp. In her hurry she missed how the other rocks around the one she took crumbled.

Arriving there, first person she sees is Diane. In her black crop top and blue top with her green dyed hair, hands on her hips. Lana knew her friend was really angry.

" Ane " before she could continue Diane walked off in anger. Lana stood there awkwardly , she knew she had taken her for granted.

Lana was still pondering how to apologize when they where ushered back onto the bus why she had no idea they had just arrived here the excursion was to last a week . In their big blue school bus , she waited for Diane to sit at their spot but she decided to sit with another girl. Lana knew her temper , of course she could just let her cool down but that was so not her she hurriedly got up and dragged her to sit with her before anyone could speak Diane was sitting with her.

"Am sorry I should not have disappeared like that. " she said while holding her down. Diane was always quiet when really angry, she on the other hand was the opposite. Letting her go. Half hearted she expected Diane to still walk out on her but she hoped otherwise.

Silence lasted between them seemed to last for eternity. Lana kept standing watching Diane face in hopes to catch what she was thinking of. "Sit " Diane said loudly. A bright smile bloomed on Lana face she knew it , how could anyone especially her best friend be angry at her cute face.

Silence covered them but these time it was so comfortable that Lana was gradually dragged into dream land. She gently rested her head on Diane as she sailed the nice boats of dreams.

Diane never actually wanted to get angry at Lana but seeing how she had tendency to be lost in her thoughts. It was actually fact that Lana was responsible, her only weakness was her love for nature sights. As soon as the saw the river at noon she watched her friends eye sparkle. She immediately knew that she was going to go back to the river and she was not wrong she might not have asked neither did Lana tell her but she knew her to well.

You could buy something super expensive for her as long as it never caught her eye she would ignore it. ' Beauty was in everything, you just had to see it ' she says.

Diane knew she herself could never be as responsible as her friend but she had to put her in check. Lana was a rare friend and she knew that. Staring at her sleeping face she slowly closed her eyes and slept off.

The bus stopped, right outside their Lana house it was quite annoying but it happened every trip. Her home was closest to the school all she had to do was sign out that she got of the bus. Every student had that thought going through their minds.

Miss Carta gently tapped her favourite student Diane but Lana woke up her bright brown eyes stared into Miss Carta. Miss Carta knew she was not being rude but that's how she looked each time she woke up as she slept a lot in her class.

Lana looked out of the window to see her house. She immediately shaked Diane who woke up startled. She pointed out of the window and lifted her bag that seemed to have gotten heavier. Rushing off the bus she waved at everyone but was closely followed by Diane who was spending the week with her.

Back at Lana's home , Diane closed the door behind her and knew better than to expect Lana's parents to be home. it was kind of weird cause she saw her parents often. "Lana when are you going to tell them to come home ". she knew her friend missed them a lot.

"Ane it is good enough to have parents who love you even if I only see them once a month, you know if they could be here they would never leave me alone. " Diane knew she should not have brought it up.

" Anyway the will be back by the end of these week. ".

Lana smiled brushing her loose hair stands behind her ear.

"Sure " Diane dropped it.
