"So you can't even use the slightest magic to peel all these potatoes?" asked Clove as she looked at Nia who looked at her and shook her head.
"No I can't, my lady will know, believe me… and then she will punish me" said Nia as she uttered that last part silently but Clove was still able to hear her.
"Your lady sounds very wicked" said Clove as Nia looked around as if watching to see if anyone was nearby to hear them.
"You do not know the half of it, she is very wicked, she Is the embodiment of evil itself" said Nia in a whisper as Clove could not believe that, but judging from the way Nia looked, she was sure that that woman was even more terrifying than Nia could explain.
"If she is that horrible why do you still work for her then?" asked Clove as she picked up another potato to start peeling,
"Well because I have nowhere else to go…" said Nia sadly.
"Really? Not to your parents or anyone else?" asked Clove.
"No, no one, my parents are gone, I have no one… the only other person who truly cared about me is gone as well" said Nia sadly.
"I am so sorry" said Clove.
"Don't be" said Nia with a smile.
"But why don't you run away if you aren't been treated well" said Clove.
"I can't, my lady is ruthless I am bound here, I can't run even if I wanted to, she had dedicated her life to torturing me" said Nia.
"But why?" asked Clove as she didn't get it, how could someone be so wicked.
"Because I insulted her several times before, and now that she has the power to, she has sworn to make my life unbearable to live, she doesn't want to kill me, she wants to torment me and drive me over the edge" said Nia in anger, she was not going to show Selene that she was suffering.
"Just who exactly Is that wicked lady of yours?" asked Clove in nothing but disbelief.
"Selene, the right hand woman of Azazel, the most wicked woman in the world" said Nia with a scoff.
"No wonder she is so wicked, she is Azazel's woman" said Clove in realization.
"No Sage, it's not because of that, I can tell you for a fact that she is even more wicked than Azazel himself" said Nia.
"Really?" asked Clove.
"Yes, she is the one who backs him up to do everything, she is the one in charge of all of this" said Nia.
"Well she is his wife after all, makes sense" said Clove as she took another potato.
"No, she's not his wife, she will never be his wife, they are not even lovers, she might have a son for him, which she got by illegal means, but Azazel will never love her" said Nia.
"How are you so sure? I mean you don't know what goes on in that man's mind" said Clove.
"Oh but I know, because in the past Azazel would never give her any chance at all, she was always hunting after him but he never paid any attention to her" said Nia.
"Are you sure?" asked Clove.
"Yes very sure, my lady at the time, she was Azazel's wife" said Nia with a smile.
"Azazel had a wife?" asked Clove in nothing but surprise as Nia nodded.
"Yes he did, and she was my lady, he hired me to take care of her, and I did, my lady was such a wonderful person, may her soul rest in peace in the afterlife" said Nia with a smile.
"What happened to her?" asked Clove.
"Well she died, and Selene killed her, I know it" said Nia in anger.
"Why did Selene kill her?" asked Clove.
"Because she hated her, she was envious of the relationship that Azazel had with his wife" said Nia.
"You see my lady was proving for all of this to end, she didn't want a war, she didn't want to fight, all she wanted was peace, and she wanted to reunite with her daughter and mend their broken relationship" said Nia, she was the only one who seemed to remember Clove in this whole camp, even Azazel himself had seemed to have forgotten her, but Selene also remembered Clove, which made Nia sure that Selene did something unspeakable for things to end up like this.
"Azazel has a daughter?" asked Clove in surprise this was the first time ever that she would be hearing about this.
"Yes he does have a daughter, she is the child of Azazel and my lady" said Nia.
"Then where is she?" asked Clove.
"Well she is against Azazel and everything he stands for, so she ran away and joined the High Council" said Nia.
"She did?" asked Clove as this was very surprising.
"Yes she did, I think that was what made my lady realize that she was also in the wrong, so she tried to reconcile with her daughter, even until the day of her death" said Nia.
"That is so sad" said Clove.
"My lady had asked me to give all her belongings to her daughter, which I did" said Nia.
"I see, but wait, I heard that Azazel also has a son" said Clove.
"Yes… that boy does exist, but only because Selene did something vile to get what she wanted" said Nia.
"I am sure that she got pregnant for Azazel because she wanted to use the child to tie Azazel down, which she succeeded in doing" said Nia.
"I just feel bad for the poor child, he has a heartless wicked woman as a mother, and a disreputable tyrant as a father, his life must be horrible to say the least" said Nia.
"Maybe, or maybe he took after his parents" said Clove as she was thinking, Nia seemed to know a lot about what was going on here, it did make sense after all, she was the former maid of Azazel's dead wife.
"Nia" called Clove.
"Yes" said Nia.
"Another thing I am curious about is the rogues, I saw many rogues in the camp in the morning, what are they doing here?" asked Clove.
"The rogues have always been Azazel's ally, I don't know why, but he seems to have some sort of agreement, they help him and it is unclear what he gives them in return" said Nia.
"It is strange, witches and vampires are not good friends, especially not to talk about the rouges" said Clove as she had something to report.
"Well I really do not know much about that" said Nia.
"Right…" said Clove.
"Sage" called Nia.
"Yes" said Clove as she looked at Nia.
"I don't mean to be rude, but why are you here, you don't seem like a bad person, you are very nice, I don't know what you would be doing in a place like this" said Nia.
"Well what is everyone else doing in a place like this?" asked Clove.
"I don't know, some are looking for hope, better things, Selene promises that if they join them and when they take over the witch realm, they will be heavily compensated" said Nia.
"Well then, I am here because of that" said Clove with a smile.
"I don't believe you" said Nia.
"Well…" said Clove as she laughed and she proceeded to take another potato when she looked down and realized that they were all gone.
"Hey, the potatoes are all gone we are done" said Clove as she laughed and she looked at Nia who laughed.
"They are gone" said Nia as she laughed, she didn't even notice how quickly they were both working.
"Like my Mama used to say, chores are faster when you have fun" said Clove as she laughed and Nia smiled as there was something about her that she could not point out.
"Well we were having fun, more like talking about all the problems in this place" said Nia as she laughed and Clove laughed.
"Thank you for helping me Sage, I really appreciate it" said Nia with a smile.
"Anytime Nia, what are friends for?" asked Clove with a smile.
"Are we friends?" asked Nia in uncertainty.
"Of course we are, as long as you want to be friends" said Clove with a smile.
"I would like that very much" said Nia with a smile.
"Then I guess we are friends" said Clove with a smile as she hugged Nia and that caught Nia by surprise.
"I have to go now, my lady's room needs to be cleaned" said Nia as Clove stopped hugging her.
"Do you clean her room every day?" asked Clove confusedly.
"Well yes" said Nia as she stood up and Clove did the same.
"How dirty can her room get?" asked Clove as Nia laughed painfully.
"You don't know the half of it, she purposefully dirties it on purpose, if it's not sand, it's mud, if it's not mud there is garbage everywhere" said Nia.
"That sounds horrible" said Clove.
"It is, anyway I have to go now, see you tomorrow" said Nia with a smile.
"See you tomorrow Nia" said Clove with a smile as Nia walked away.
