Chereads / Annie Grey / Chapter 412 - Mountain dwellers

Chapter 412 - Mountain dwellers

"You do realize that we are now following a complete stranger, right?" asked Maddie as she looked at Annie as they followed after Alina, who looked way too happy for Maddie's liking.

"Oh come on Annie, she doesn't look dangerous at all" said Annie as she smiled and she looked at Maddie.

"Looks can be deceiving trust me, we can't just trust this girl who came out of nowhere, what if she's a monster in disguise or something?" asked Maddie as she looked at Annie, quite frankly, she did not trust this mountain at all, maybe this was all a hallucination or something, but she did not trust anyone except for Annie, Matt, sometimes Curtis, and definitely not Ollie and this new girl called Alina.

"Maddie, you have too much distrust in people" said Annie.

"Well Annie, I don't care, if you know life, you know that the people closest to you can betray you, besides, it's better to distrust people, than to trust them and let them misuse your trust" said Maddie.

"Oh Maddie, sometimes, you don't need to see the worst at all times" said Annie as she smiled, she did not blame Maddie for not trusting Alina, it was only her nature not to trust people easily.

"Yeah, yeah, you have your views, and I have mine" said Maddie as she shook her head.

"Alina, that is a nice name" said Ollie as he smiled.

"Thank you" said Alina as she smiled and she turned to look at Ollie as she continued on walking, they were almost back at the colony.

"What does it mean?" asked Ollie as he smiled.

"Well it means light" said Alina as she smiled.

"My master named me that because he found me on a full moon" said Alina as she smiled.

"Your master?" asked Matt in confusion as it seemed that the more this girl spoke, the more confused he got, who was this master of her? Where did she and him come from?

"Yes my Master, I was abandoned as a baby, I never knew my parents, but my master found me, he took me in and he raised me" said Alina as she smiled.

"Wow" said Ollie as this was such a story, Alina did not even seem bitter or sad about being abandoned as a baby, she even seemed happy.

"Yes wow indeed, my master is the best, although he does have a temper, but he is usually nice sometimes" said Alina as she laughed.

"Hmm" said Curtis as he was deep in his own thoughts, what was happening right now was a surprise to him, he was trying to figure everything out, even he did not know what was going on right now, and with the appearance of this girl.

"We are almost there" said Alina as she smiled and she made her way through the trees, she would have ran so she could get back home quickly, but she had her new friends following after her, she could not wait to introduce them to her master.

"Hey how old are you guys?" asked Alina as she smiled, she felt like they were about her age, if she was not mistaken.

"I'm sixteen" said Annie as she smiled, actually she would be turning seventeen soon, but regardless.

"Nineteen" replied Ollie with a smile.

"Eighteen" replied Matt as Annie signaled Maddie to participate.

"Seventeen" said Maddie as she sighed and Curtis said nothing.

"That's so cool, we are the same age Maddie" said Alina as she smiled.

"Mhmm" said Maddie as she shook her head, they were getting too entangled with this girl.

"Hey, we are finally here" said Alina as they finally made it to the end of the trees into the colony.

"Come on, I am almost late" said Alina as she smiled and she quickened her pace as she quickly ran over what seemed to be a bridge.

"Oh my…" said Maddie as she was surprised, and she looked around, who knew that somewhere, past all these trees, there would be a place as peaceful, and a bright as this??

There were no trees anywhere, the entire land was free of trees, which allowed for the sunlight to enter directly, unlike in the forest where sunlight barely entered because of the many trees.

Maddie was beyond in awe, there was even a water fall here, there was a bridge that went past the waterfall.

"This is cool" said Ollie as he just had to say that, this place was like some wonderful dreamland.

"You can say that again" said Matt as he could hear the rushing water of the water fall in his ears.

"Are you guys coming or what?" asked Alina with a giggle as she called out to them from the other side of the bridge.

"Come on guys, let's go" said Annie as she laughed and she quickly walked to the other side of the wooden bridge to join Alina.

"Let's go" said Ollie as he followed after Annie, and Matt, Curtis and Maddie followed after him, Maddie was just in surprise, this place looked beautiful way too beautiful.

"Hello everyone" said Alina as she laughed and she walked as she waved to other people, there were many other people, and children playing as they stopped to wave back at Alina.

"Alina, your master was looking for you" said one man as he turned to look at Alina.

"Oh… and what did you tell him?" asked Alina.

"That we all see you leave to the forest" said the man as Alina shook her head, she was in big trouble.

"Oh okay thank you" said Alina as she smiled, she had to go see her master and coax him so he would not be upset with her.

"Hey, these are my new friends, I will introduce them to you later, but for now, I have to get to my master, before he gets very upset, so see you" said Alina as she explained and she smiled as she turned to look at Annie.

"Come on guys, follow me this way, we need to get back home soon" said Alina as she smiled and she turned around and she ran quickly as they all followed after her.

"Who are those people?" asked Maddie in confusion, there were so many people here, many people, who seemed to be living their lives.

"Mountain dwellers" said Ollie to himself in surprise as Annie, Matt, Maddie and Curtis all turned to look at him.

"What do you mean mountain dwellers?" asked Maddie.

"Of course, now it makes sense, there are mountain dwellers here" said Ollie as this was great news, so It was not true, Caligo had mountain dwellers, it was a surprise to him, they thought that Caligo was uninhabited, but that was a lie, it was not true at all, these people, witches, seemed to be surviving well here.

"Of course mountain dwellers" said Curtis as Annie, Maddie and Matt turned to look at him, he wondered how he could have let this skip his mind.

"What are mountain dwellers?" asked Annie in confusion.

"Well mountain dwellers are witches who decided to leave on their own, without help of the Realm, they moved to the mountains in order to live in freedom, but the surprising thing here was that we were led to believe that there were no mountain dwellers on Caligo, but that is obviously a lie, they all seem to be living happily here" said Ollie as he could not wait to tell his mother this, there were actually people on Caligo.

"I see" said Annie as this was a surprise to her, to think that there were people living on the mountains.

"Well yes, we are mountain dwellers, although we don't like to call ourselves that" said Alina as she laughed and she stopped running as she turned to look at the others.

"We prefer the time inhabitants" said Alina as she smiled.

"Noted" said Ollie as he smiled.

"Oh hey, my master must be training, he isn't here, come on he must be training" said Alina as she smiled, she really hoped that he was not too upset, he usually trained when he was upset.

"Okay…" said Matt as he was getting more and more intrigued with this person called Alina's master.

"He should be in the fields training" said Alina as she walked behind what looked like a stable as Annie, Maddie, Matt and Ollie followed after her.

"There he is" said Alina with a smile as she pointed to a grassy area with different targets set up as there was a very tall man with brown hair and brown eyes as he was holding aa bow and arrow, he looked like he was getting ready to shoot.

"*Shush*, don't make any noise, my master likes absolute peace and quiet when he is concentrating" said Alina as she whispered and Annie, Ollie, Maddie, Matt and Curtis kept quiet as they watched.
