Chereads / Annie Grey / Chapter 380 - Law of the jungle

Chapter 380 - Law of the jungle

"Where is Curtis?" asked Matt as he looked at Annie, he did not look happy at all, Annie was wondering why Matt was acting weird, sure Maddie was acting weird, but she was Maddie that was her thing, but Matt was always the calm one, but it didn't seem so now.

"Well he said that he was going to scout the area or something" said Annie as she was not quite sure.

"Hey, you are in my seat" said Ollie as he finished casting a spell to set up his tent as he walked back to where Annie was sitting as Maddie was now sitting there, and that annoyed him.

"I don't see your name on it now do I?" asked Maddie as she smiled and she looked at Ollie.

"But I was there first" said Ollie.

"Finders keepers, losers weepers, law of the jungle blondie" said Maddie as she smiled sweetly at Ollie, even though she was far from sweet.

"We aren't in a jungle, we are on a mountain" said Ollie as he corrected her, and also he just wanted his seat back, he did not lift this log all the way here just for her to come and sit in his spot, he was sitting there with Annie, and not her.

"Law still applies Prince, we aren't in the Castle anymore, we are in the middle of nowhere, so you have no power, or no one to save you" said Maddie as she smiled.

"I don't need anyone to save me" said Ollie.

"Seems like you do, since you want to fight with a pretty girl for a seat on a log" said Maddie as she smiled.

"Grouchy, don't play with me, you are not pretty" said Ollie.

"Hey!" said Maddie as she felt offended, no one had ever said that she wasn't pretty, she was the prettiest of the pretty, and she knew it.

"And secondly, I never thought you would be childish enough to take my spot" said Ollie.

"But I mean I understand, my father does always say to give room to the younger ones to grow" said Ollie as he smiled and he winked at Maddie as he walked away and he did not give her a chance to refute him.

"Well you… you are just… *Ugh*, come back here right this instant" said Maddie as Ollie was far gone as he went to get another log to sit on, he would not fight with a child.

"Did he just call me a child?" asked Maddie in disbelief as she turned to look at Annie who had been quiet all the while, she would like to maintain her peace, so she did not insert herself into the argument.

"Well I mean, he didn't call you a child per se" said Annie as she smiled.

"Oh Annie, don't defend that guy, he doesn't deserve to be defended, he so called me a child, not to worry, he called me a child, so I will give him a child" said Maddie as she smiled mischievously and she had a evil glint in her eye that alarmed Annie.

"Umm Maddie, what are you planning to do?" asked Annie as she did not want to be held liable for Ollie's death, after all, she hadn't seen that evil glint in Maddie's eyes ever since she and her had become friends, Maddie used to look like that a lot, but she had changed, or at least Annie thought that she had.

"Nothing that you need to know my dear, sweet Annie" said Maddie as she smiled, Annie was innocent, and she would prefer it if it stayed like that.

"Maddie, I don't trust you" said Annie as she shook her head.

"You don't need to trust me, but know that I trust you" said Maddie as she smiled.

"Oookay" said Annie as she did not like the way Maddie was sounding, but she could she do? Nothing at all, all she could hope was that Maddie would not go too far.

"Aha, a child takes my seat, so I just find a new one" said Ollie as he smiled and he returned with another wooden log as it placed itself beside the fire and Maddie just scoffed.

"Whatever" said Maddie as she scoffed at him, he was going to have to sleep with one eye open, or else she would get him, and he would see who he was really dealing with, she was the great Maddie Wolf, people were scared of her, and not the other way around.

"Curtis has been gone for too long, I am going to look for him" said Matt as he turned to walk away in the opposite direction.

"Okay" said Annie as she wanted to talk to Matt, but now did not seem like a good time, he did not look like he was in a good mood at all, it was already very cold, and Annie was sure that the mist would roll in soon, so it was important for them to find Curtis first.

In that same moment, Matt stopped in his tracks as heard close footsteps nearby and Curtis walked back towards Matt.

"Curtis you are back, Matt was just about to go look for you" said Annie.

"I am back now, and the area seems secure" said Curtis as he walked to the fire, if this was in the past, he would not have felt cold, but that was not the case now, it was like he was a normal human being in this state of his, and he felt cold, and hunger just like anyone else did.

"That's reassuring" said Maddie in a dull tone, she was just plain tired at this point, Curtis was too much, but they were already here, and there was nothing that they could do.

"Maddie come and help me heat dinner" said Curtis as he looked at Maddie.

"Okay" said Maddie as she stood up, all this talking, tiredness, and anger at Ollie made her forget that she was actually hungry.

Curtis walked over to his bags as Maddie followed after him and she bent down and opened the bags.

Ollie chuckled as he saw Maddie was long gone and he quickly stood up as he rushed to sit by Annie.

Annie was startled by his sudden presence since she was looking at Matt who did not seem to notice her at all, she wondered why it would seem that Maddie and Ollie were fighting over her or something.

"Now that the grouch is gone, I can have my rightful place by your side" said Ollie as he smiled.

"Mhmm" said Annie as she laughed sheepishly, Ollie was just too much, she wondered if he knew what he was actually saying.

Matt frowned as he just walked to sit on the other log as Annie looked at him and he did not look at her at all.

"So Annie, what is your favourite colour?" asked Ollie as he smiled, he wanted to know more about her, right now, he only knew her name, the status of her family in the witch realm, and also that she was powerless.

"Umm purple" said Annie as she replied and she stood looking at Matt as she turned to look at Curtis.

"Ohh I see cool, why do you like the colour purple?" asked Ollie.

"I don't know… I have just always liked it" said Annie as she smiled.

"Ahh I see, well my favourite colour is blue" said Ollie as he smiled.

"It's the colour of my mother's eyes, and also of mine" said Ollie as he smiled.

"That's very nice Prince Oliver" said Annie as she smiled.

"Ollie" said Ollie as he corrected her, it had become a habit for him to do so, he wondered when them calling him Ollie would catch on, he did not want them to always be so formal with him, they were his friends after all.

"Sorry, I mean Ollie" said Annie as she smiled.

"No worries" said Ollie as he smiled.

"Anyway, what's your favourite food?" asked Ollie as he smiled.

"Umm I don't know, I don't really have one" said Annie as she smiled.

"I see, well it's the same here" said Ollie as he smiled.

"We have so much in common that it's funny right?" asked Ollie as he laughed.

"Riggght…."said Annie as she laughed sheepishly, well she was right about one thing, Ollie was like a lonely child, he just wanted some friends, she found that cute about him, he was nice, very nice.

"How long have you, Maddie and Matt been friends?" asked Ollie as he smiled.

"Well for a while now" said Annie as she smiled and she looked at Matt who still looked very cold, she wondered what was upsetting him so? She wanted to help, because it was not like him to be so cold, but she just could not shake off Ollie, he was following her everywhere, she was not uncomfortable, just tired of all his energy.

"I am sure that we are going to be very great friends" said Ollie as he smiled and Annie shot him a quick smile.
