Chereads / Annie Grey / Chapter 248 - Pressure

Chapter 248 - Pressure

"Selene can you tell me why Liam is dead" said Azazel as he did not waste any time, he immediately needed an explanation, and he was not going to be nice today, not like he was ever nice.

"What??? he's dead, when did this happen??" asked Selene as she looked surprised, her eyes went wide, and the look on her face suggested that she just found out.

"My Lord, it must be a lie, it must be a trick" she said as she swiftly wiped away a stray tear from her eye.

"You are telling me that you did not know?" asked Azazel as he snickered, he did not believe Selene one bit, tears were easy to fake, and especially for someone like Selene.

"My Lord, of course I do not know" said Selene

"How can you even try accuse me of such, I am loyal to you" said Selene as she pretended that she was hurt.

Azazel dismissed her question, and said "His body was found dumped nearby, apparently there were no bruises or wounds to suggest that it was an assassination, but I suspect a foul play" he said as he looked at Selene with his chilling eyes.

"Who found him?" asked Selene.

"Just a witch around" said Azazel.

"Now tell me Selene, I ask you once again, what do you know about Liam's death?" asked Azazel, he was not stupid no one else would be as brave as to kill one of his rogues it was unbelievable.

"My Lord, do I look like I can disobey you?" asked Selene a as she looked offended.

"You tell me Selene" said Azazel.

"Well My Lord, I am telling you the truth, I do not know anything about this, how could he have died so easily, he just returned two days ago" said Selene.

"Why are you even asking me about him in the first place??" asked Selene

"It is no surprise to everyone about the type of relationship you two had" said Azazel

"He seemed to be interested in you" said Azazel

"He never made his intentions clear, and we did not have a relationship, he was very unbearable, and I despised him" said Selene, it seemed that her words had a double meaning.

"This is detrimental to your plan My Lord, we need to find out who did this immediately, there is a killer in the camp and no one else is safe" said Selene.

"Selene" called Azazel.

"Yes My Lord" said Selene.

"Selene!!" called Azazel again.

"Yes My Lord" replied Selene

"Selene!!!" called Azazel

"Yes My lord" said Selene

"Tell me how many times have I called you?" asked Azazel

"Three times My Lord" said Selene as she did not in any way act guilty at all.

"Selene for the sake of your life, you better tell me the truth" said Azazel

"Did you kill Liam, yes or no??" asked Azazel calmly.

Selene knew that this was the point of no return she could feel the pressure emanating from Azazel, she was innocent wasn't she, and no one could prove otherwise.

"And for the last time My Lord" said Selene as she looked bold and courageous.

"I DID NOT KILL HIM" she said with all the firmness in her tone.

"Even if I did, what would it benefit me??" she said

"What could I possible gain from killing Liam??" she asked as she was almost shouting, but she got a hold of herself.

"He was the only person that truly paid me any attention, and now he's..." said Selene as she looked down and her voice reduced to nothing but a whisper.

"He's dead" said Selene.

"My Lord, please believe me, I have nothing to do with what happened to Liam, and instead of blaming me, you should start looking for the real culprit" said Selene.

"Leave" said Azazel

"What?" asked Selene.

"I said get out Selene" said Azazel as he was furious, and Selene knew better than to stay around him, so she ran out immediately.

Azazel did not know what to think, but he knew better than to trust Selene, in his books, she was a good ally to have, but not to be trusted, what was she up to??

On Selene's way out, she caught sight of a vampire, and she quickly turned her head the other way, but it was too late.

"Hey you" called Hunter

"What do you want from me?" asked Selene as she looked fed up.

"First I am accused of something I did not do, and yet here you are" she said.

"You can fool everyone else you witch, but you cannot fool me, I know what you did and you will pay" said Hunter as he looked at her angrily.

"I do not know what you are talking about" said Selene.

"Suit yourself" said Hunter as he walked away angrily.

Hunter was furious, he had suspected something fishy, he knew that something terrible was about to happen, and he had told everyone, but no he was not going to sit down and watch this time.

He was not going to let Bruce stop him and hold him down like last time, he needed justice to prevail for Liam, and he was not going to let that Witch get away with it, he was going to talk to Azazel about it directly.

"Boss I need to speak to you" said Hunter as he entered Azazel's office without informing Azazel.

"What do you want Hunter?" asked Azazel

"Boss it's is urgent I need to speak to you" said Hunter with boldness.

"What is it?" asked Azazel

"Boss it's about Liam" said Hunter.

"What about Liam?" asked Azazel

"It's about his death" said Hunter.

"I am very sure that Selene killed him" said Hunter

"I am certain of it, last night he told us all that he was going to meet Selene, and then this morning he turns up dead" said Hunter.

"He did?" asked Azazel

"Yes Boss, he left to meet Selene last night, apparently they had an appointment" said Hunter

"I don't know about you, but that is not a coincidence, I do not care what that wicked woman told you, I am one hundred percent sure that she is the one that killed him and she is just pretending not to know anything" said Hunter.

"Boss you have to believe me, Justice must prevail, we rogues did nothing to her, why does she want to kill us all?" asked Hunter as he was not scared for his life, he was truly fed up, this was not fair, how could their innocent boss be killed by that woman?

"Enough Hunter!" said Azazel.

"Yes Boss, but please hear me out" said Hunter.

"I will look into the matter" said Azazel.

"Please do boss" said Hunter as he was desperate.

"Leave Hunter" said Azazel

"Yes Boss" said Hunter as he did not push anymore.

This was it, Azazel needed some evidence against Selene, he was going to punish her, but first, he would see what she would say in her defense, with all the acting she had done earlier she would not back down easily.

....

"Hunter" called Bruce as he saw Hunter.

"Hunter" he said.

"I am not talking to you" said Hunter as he noticed that Bruce had caught up to him,

"What did you say to Azazel??" asked Bruce.

"The truth" replied Hunter, he was not taking this lightly.

"What did you do?" asked Bruce

"Nothing, I only told him the truth, that witch thinks that she can kill our leader and get away with it, ha, far from it, she is not getting out of this one" said Hunter as he was determined.

"Look Hunter, I know that you are upset" said Bruce.

"But you need to be careful, this is not back home where we can do whatever we want, this is the witches land, it is us against them, we need to speak wisely, and tread softly" said Bruce.

"Just shut up, don't talk to me, I am tired of hearing that nonsense, So we should just sit quiet and still while they kill us one by one" said Hunter.

"No way!" he said

"We did not come over here to be killed, we came here for a mission, and I am focused on that mission" said Hunter.

"Hunter listen to me, we both know how dangerous this place is, we rogues need to stick together" said Bruce.

"Wow, what a sight, now you talk about togetherness" said Hunter as he stopped walking and turned around to look at Bruce.

"Where was this 'togetherness' of yours when I told you last night that we should all bind together and fight for out leader" said Hunter.

"Where was that same 'togetherness' when I told you that there was something going on but you turned me down??" asked Hunter.

"You talk about togetherness, when you are a serious hypocrite" said Hunter.

"And I do not move with hypocrites" said Hunter.

"I realize now, that the only person I can trust is me alone... myself" he said.

"So much for the brotherhood" scoffed Hunter as he walked away, leaving Bruce feeling extremely guilty, he was right, he deserved all the insults given to him.
