Chapter 9 - The prince's vow

(Deans pov)

After my meeting with my father I decided to go for a run. I take a breath and let my wolf take over. Rune is happy to stretch his legs. Being the Prince and Alpha my wolf stood larger then most. His coat was black expect my paws that where sliver gray, it looked as if Rune stepped in paint and just never came off. I let Rune have control not caring where we go as long as it's away from the castle. We take off to the River that separates us from fairy's. 'ugh fairys' I think to myself. Fairy's and wolves do not get along mainly because fairy's are snoopy creatures that see themselves better then the rest of us. Rune walks the rivers edge sniffing the air. I laugh at him 'you won't find anything fairy's wouldn't dare cross to this side' I tell him with a laugh. Rune head snaps forward, his ears twitching. A faint sound comes from up ahead. Rune slowly creeps near the sound.

Few paces ahead and across the river I can see the Fairy kings guards searching. Rune points his head where the guards stand trying to hear what they are saying...

"we can't give up."

"think she could make it across this river."

"there's no way it's too far"

"she wouldn't have the strength to make it"

"we hardly feed her to keep her weak plus with the wolfsbane and silver it's a surprise she got out at all"

"someone had to have helped her"

"we have to find her and quick the king wants her chained back up and wants her to have an iv of wolfsbane pumping threw her"

Rune growls low at what the guards are saying. I can feel the anger in us rising and the need to rip out the throats off all those guards. 'who is this girl and why do I feel this way about someone I don't even know.' Rune growls and pads forward and new scent hits our nose it's faint as if it's old or maybe washed away with the rain, but it wraps around us. It smells of fresh strawberries and sweat cream. I have never smelled anything more wonderful then this. We follow the sent it goes on for miles cutting threw Moon Haven forest. one moment we have the scent the next it's gone. Rune scratches the earth sniffing looking for the scent tail but nothing. 'how can something just disappear in the middle of the woods? And why is this scent so intoxicating?' I ask Rune. 'Mate' he growls.

Our mate... something I always thought I'd never want now I must find her protect her. I think back to those fairy guards and what they where talking about could they be looking for MY mate? have they hurt her? did they find her before me? Rune let's out a deep angry growl 'ill kill anyone who harms our mate she is MINE.' I could feel pain stabbing threw me as I thought of the pain she might have been in if she is the one the faires are looking for. but why would the fairies have her to begin with... there's more going on and I'm going to have to find her to figure it out. 'i will find her no matter what! Rune look for any other scents near by that might explain what happened here.' Rune sniffs the air a light scent hits us from a bush near by. Rune scents the bush carefully to figure out the sent it's old but familiar.... I know this scent... but it's to old to trigger how I know it.

I feel a push in my mind, 'Dean return at once you and your sister need to be fitted for the ball,' my mother sweet voice mindlinks me. I let out a huff. if I leave now by time I return the scents will be gone. another push hits me, my sister trying to mindlink me, "if you don't show up I'll pick your tux and make sure it's pink and sparkling' she giggles acting like she a sweet little angel. Rolling my eyes I tell Rune to head home. He tries to fighting me, 'no mate she needs us' he growls. 'if we don't show up we will be in pink and sparkles for this ball you know belle will do it and if our mate shows up to the ball I rather not have her see us dressed like that' I reason with him. He unhappily agrees and takes off to the castle. 'I will find you and when I do I'll never let anyone harm you again' I vow to the air hoping some way she hear my vow and know I'm coming for her.

*********

That night I dreamed of a wolf who's fur was whiter then the moon. She was running threw the forest. I quickly chased after her trying so hard to reach her. She ran as if her life depends on it and showed no sign of slowing down. I run behind her unable to reach her then suddenly she spins around and shows my her face. Her eye glow a soft pink and upon her forehead was a pink crescent Moon. She looked at me with fear in her eyes and howled a painful howl. I woke breathing hard, I knew it was her I could fell it. 'I must find her!'
