"That can't be right. Swift may have tried to take my Bible in the past but he never suceeded."
I bowed my head and spoke softly.
"It was in the valley. Swift took advantage of the dark to grab the Bible from your brother. He said something like, 'There is nowhere you can run where I won't find you.' Aa! There is another one and another. Almost as if frogs are coming like a plague. Maybe this was Swift's plan all along."
"That's impossible."
"When you shot him did you take the Bible or just run?"
"I reached down to grab the Bible but saw my brother looking at me so I left the Bible and ran. Came back a few minutes later and the Bible was gone but Swift's body still lay. Reached down, grabbed the staff and went home. Don't know how or who gave the Bible to my brother but what I do know is that this was years in the making.
The answer to your question that is in your thoughts is yes. Whoever gave us this Bible wants us to relive Moses' flight from Egypt but as you can see; they started to line the events up correctly. Sadly they are now playing out of order. Someone didn't read their Bible and we'll take advantage of that. They may have a plan….and the start of the ten plagues."
"Wait, hold up Croak. The start? I don't think you've been readin your Bible everyday like you should. It's raining frogs. Frogs! That is the second plague."
I stood there processing it for a second and Aaron closed his eyes to catch his breath. When he opened them again I should've caught the lighter shade of blue in his eyes but I wasn't paying attention.
"Aaron, are you saying instead of the pond drying up it filled up with blood; everyone died, and now their dead bodies are raining down upon us?"
He stood there emotionless like he did before and then he spoke. When he did…..I knew.
"Should've known my brother wasn't wasn't as strong as he looked. Never send a sheep to do a wolf's work.
"AAAAAA!!!"
He never knew what hit him. One minute he was standing and the next he was flying backwards through the air with my head and arms wrapped around him.
"Traitor! I thought we were friends, Croak. You can't just go around picking fights with my uncle."
"Hey! I saw his eyes. He had no emotion. No pity. No anger or care for others. When you become a Christian you not only protect yourself but protect and care for your new broader range of believers. I could tell he did not and I kicked his butt for it. So if you want me to show you what I did to him then I suggest you sit down and let me continue. Good!"
We tumbled down the cliff a ways then he forcefully threw me off. I hit a rock and collapsed. Regaining to my feet I saw him walking towards me but now his walk changed. I saw that walk before but couldn't put my finger on it.
"Who are you?" I yelled.
He stopped and extended his hands outward.
"My name is Swift. And I am a messenger!!"
The ground began to shake and fire burned from Aarons skin.
"I call upon the spirits of the deep. Rise up and give me strength to defeat…...my enemies."
Swords of fire and steel grew out of his hands and scales protruded from his back. He lifted his hands and a storm of dirt, earth, and dead frogs rose up with him in the air.
"Shield of Faith!!"
My toes dug into the ground as I tried to gain balance but he was too strong.
"Give it up Croak and show me an opponent that will stand. You can't hold forever. Your shield is cracking which means your faith is weak."
My eyes opened and I spoke softly then louder.
"'Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm.'
Hopper's spirit. If you can hear me please come to my aid because I can't do this alone."
Once you came I knew my strength was restored and I felt ready for anything.
"Sword of the Spirit!!"
I swung my shield and a path cleared between me and Swift. Those few seconds seemed to stop as our eyes met and a smile formed on my face as I saw fear in his. My feet leapt off the face of the earth and I pointed my sword straight at his gigantic head, He didn't even move. Not even a stir.
"Armor of God, come to me!"
Pieces started flying in my direction but it was not me they were targeting.I tried to dodge but Swift's sword pierced my side and I fell back to the earth.
"W….W…. What happened? Spirits are supposed to give you strength and faith. Hopper has the most faith out of all of us combined. I just don't understand. Wait, why are all the pieces going to you?"
"Tisk, tisk. The pieces go to the one with the most faith and right now in this situation…...that's me. It does no good to know everything about God and believe but you have to truly know He is who He says He is. Even the demons have faith and believe in Him. That's why they shudder at the mention of his Name. They shudder because they know the power that Jesus holds and that He is who He says He is and will do what He says He'll do.
Thanks again for the armor. I expected more out of the both of you but you did what I wanted you to. Hopper would've been too smart to throw the armor out there because he knows where he stands. You're still clumsy and way too predictable. Would love to stay and chat but I have places to go, no need for you anymore and plagues to send. Ta ta."
I looked at the sword that lay by my side; the shield that had a few cracks in it and the blood that was flowing ever so steadily out of my side. This cannot be the end. The spirit of Hopper was raging from within and would he let a little self-doubt bring him down? No sir. He would fight to the very last breath…...And so will I."
"Stairway to Heaven!!"
Steps appeared out of mist and I picked up my pace, tightened my shield and raced up the steps. Swift turned and this time I didn't hesitate. I dove and we made our descent towards earth. We twisted back and forth driving our swords through each other's side and my wound opened back up.
"Remember, any conflict you harm on me will also reflect on Aaron. Do you really want to kill Hopper's uncle especially when you have his spirit raining fierce inside you? I don't believe you have what it takes."
"Father forgive me," I said quietly. Then my sword drove straight through Aarons heart.
