Chapter 9 - Peace

"Looks like a storm is headed our way from the look of these clouds. What do you suggest we do Aaron?"

"Storm!"

"Uhhh...yes."

"Storm!"

"Aaron, repeating something over and over again isn't going to allow me to see into your mind. Aaron, are you even listening to me?"

"Huh? Oh yeah. Croak, a storm is coming in; yes, but it's already here as well."

"You sure you're with me and can not only hear but also see my lips moving?"

"Yes Croak. I know what the next piece is we have to find. We have to find the ready equipped shoes of the Gospel of peace. To make the shoes appear I just need to have peace within myself on my family's deaths. Then we can move onto the next piece. This will be easier than I thought.

Hey guys listen up. I know where...shh!!"

"Aaron it's not that simple and won't be that easy. Nothing on the straight and narrow is ever easy. When you become a Christian you think that since God will provide all you need then life will be a breeze but it won't. You are still in a fleshy body so hardships will still come and will be more extreme. The only difference is that now you have helpers 24/7 that you can call upon and they'll always be there. If you try doing it in your own strength then stuff will never work. We tried sending teams off on their own in the valley to see who could kill the most spirits and release the sword but that didn't work. Spirits are the closest thing you hold dear and the closest thing we held dear was Hopper and your brother.

To receive the sword we had to let Hopper and your brother go. But in so doing we received something greater. Not only did we receive the sword but also your physical presence as well. The apostles lost their spirit; Jesus, but in so doing they gained so much more. They gained the Holy Spirit and a physical presence of believers to and fro from churches and gatherings. Trials may not make sense in the moment nor how we have to get through them but in the end it will be so worth it. You will come out braver and stronger. It's easier to say something then it is doing it Aaron. Yes, you know that you need to find peace within yourself but to get these shoes you have to truly have it and embody peace. You and I both know that their deaths are not the only peace you need to mend."

"Psalm 103:1-12. 'Praise the Lord oh my soul. All my inmost being praise His Holy name. Praise the Lord oh my soul and forget not what He's done. Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. Who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. Who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles."

"How can you praise at a time like this Aaron? Everything's been taken from you?"

"The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses and His deeds to the people of Israel. The Lord is compassionate and gracious; slow to anger and abounding in love. He will not always accuse nor will He harbor His anger forever. He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth so great is His love for those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west; so far has He removed our transgressions from us."

"That was beautiful Aaron. I could never quote eleven verses in a row."

"That was more than a song of praises, Croak. These verses are the next clues we need to decipher. We should get going before the storm is upon us."

"Aaron, is there any way this rain could be more than just a shower? I mean showers are supposed to be warm and comforting. This rain is cold and hurts to the bone."

"We'll take shelter in the woods until the rain passes. Come on."

"Is your whole family like this or are you just special?"

"Croak, I like darkness and being alone. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact oddly enough it is safer alone in the dark than in a public open place filled with people. You wouldn't understand."

"Try me!"

"Okay. When you're alone in the darkness there is less danger you encounter, less noise you hear, less problems you have to deal with and mainly less of everything and anything negative. Plus you can move around faster and get out easier without having to worry if the people you are with are physically and mentally able to perform on the necessary level needed. Jesus was right when He said people are like sheep. I can't risk life and death with someone who is too slow to keep up."

"Aaron, watch your step. You almost stepped on a....frog!?"

"Swift!.....Where's everyone?"
