Chapter 10 - Wedding Night

Leo and I dance that entire night whilst laughing and smiling. He pulls me into a hallway around midnight and kisses me on the forehead.

"Tonight is our wedding night Regina, what do you want to do?"

I blushing-ly lean up onto my toes and try to kiss him but he covers my mouth with his hand.

"No. We have to wait for that. I've already told the council that we'll wait until you're of age."

I frown into his hand and pull away. In my last life he just took me to bed.

"But me being married to you means that I don't have to be of age! And if we do wait 1 year for me to turn 17 then the people will talk."

"I know that you may feel very vulnerable right now with all that's happened but I promise that I'll love you all the same. Even if we had to wait 10 years to consummate our marriage, I'd do that for you. Besides, I'd feel like I was taking advantage of you because of my age."

"But you're only 20, I'll be 16 tomorrow. The legal age for marriage is 15 so we won't be looked down upon. I want to be with you."

He turns his head away from me and sighs as his hand cups the nape of my neck.

"I know you do. And trust me I want to too, but it wouldn't be right." His eyes swing back to mine as he stares at me with a lustful gaze. A second later he slightly shakes his head and hardens his stare with determination and poise.

"I know exactly what we can do for tonight. I'll plan everything so that it can be perfect."

I tilt my head slightly. "What will we do?"

"You'll just have to wait and see..." A boyish grin appears on his face as he stares at me playfully. I laugh at him and kiss his cheek.

"Fine, I guess we should get back now then? They'll be wondering where we are right about now." I sigh and start to walk toward the door. Before I can push it open Leo grabs my arm and spins me around to face him.

"Can I have another kiss?"

He stares at me nervously as I try to rationalize what he just said. Why is he asking me that? Before he would have just kissed me. What changed from then to now? I stutter-fully replied to him.

"If y-you want to have a kiss then I-"

He laughs and pulls me in to kiss him on the lips. I feel him smirk into the kiss as my knees begin to feel weak. His hand moves to hold my waist and I feel his tongue brush against my lips, as I'm about to open my mouth to him I hear the hallway door open.

Your Maj- e-excuse me I- I didn't mean to-" The door slams shut as Leo pulls away from me.

"Hehe her face was so shocked!" I giggle as I'm reminded of the maids face. "I wonder what she wanted."

"Let's go find out." He begrudgingly walks up to the door and holds it open for me to walk through.

As we walk out we see that most of the guests have already left the temple. I walked over to the maid from before and asked her what she needed.

She blushes and clears her throat. "I wanted to inform you that the guests are leaving. Many live in towns not far from here but they wished to retire to their homes because of how late it was."

She looks down and blushes again

"That's fine. We'll be retiring too, so one everything is cleaned up you may all go to the palace."

She bows to me and wanders off to tell the other maids and butlers. I walk over to Leo who is talking to a nobleman at the entrance door.

"Ah yes, the new Queen. Long may you both reign together."

"Hello, I'm pleased to see you. Am I interrupting?"

"The pleasure is all mine. And no, I was just discussing matters of the kingdom with His Majesty. They can be set aside for now. I'll let you both retire to your room. I hope this day brings you as much joy as it brought the invitation recipients."

He walks toward his carriage and with a final wave, he's gone. I look toward Leo and take his hand. It is our wedding night, but I guess waiting can't be that bad right?
