Chapter 1 - The afterlife is pale

The time has come. It's Finally time to weigh my heart alongside the feather. A test of my faith and my wickedness. Was I wicked? No. I did what I needed to do to survive that monster. The people of the kingdom don't know, they know nothing of that monster and what she did to survive in those woods.

"NEXT!!" A voice from above called. I stepped forward and stood on the elevated platform. "Name?" The voice called to no one in particular.

"Regina Ingrid." I say in a self loathing voice. It's not that I hate what I did, I just hate I couldn't do it sooner.

I look up realizing that it's gone quiet. "Ingrid, you say?" Came a voice behind me. I turn around to look at the line of lost souls waiting in darkness to be judged. "Yes." I say with a slightly alarmed tone.

"Go down and meet your fate, where no trial awaits, your time was half baked, as a new destiny creates."

"What does that mean?" I say turning back around to the judging voice. I start to feel a chill as a man slowly walks towards me.

"Change our fate for the better and we will be together. No more sorrow will trouble you, bring our fire back my golden apple." Says the man as he stands in front of me, just out of reach and sight.

All of a sudden I feel as if I'm falling asleep. My mind blanks as I see the dark creature come again to take my soul. I feel her soft skin on my arm as she reaches down for my hand. I jerk back in surprise as I did before, but the wound is already healed. She did this to me. I see her smile as my blood drips down her face and the crumbs of the apple I gave her flow along with it.

She wants to take everything from me again. She wants my blood, the blood of the people, the crown. I will die if she takes my fire, I will suffer the same fate as before.

"No!!" I refuse to bow to her will. She who has taken everything from me.
