Chapter 29 - Silveria Empire

***********

He sighed as he suddenly remembered those advice coming from the crimson-haired woman and Ryan felt like his mind would explode into pieces for him to understand Scarlette's advice to him.

For now, he felt exhausted and wanted to rest for the night to rest as his body felt fatigued because of the fight from earlier.

Also, at the same time, felt bad for Scarlette as the crimson-haired woman took over his job to be on guard for the whole night just because he got injured from their battle.

'I'll apologize tomorrow and make amends for this matter.'

With that thought, Ryan finally left that place and returned to their camp.

.....

........

......…..

SILVERIA EMPIRE.

Known as the largest and most powerful within the four empires of Miris Continent. This is the empire where Scarlette Overland currently resides.

Hesperia is the name of the planet where the Miris Continent resides.

However, outside of the Miris Continent's four empire's barrier, there are some lands outside of their jurisdiction are now barren lands since those lands are now being occupied by monsters and henceforth, those barren territories are called Void Plains.

The Miris Continent is composed of four influential empires and some small kingdoms that have an alliance with each of the four major empires.

Amongst the four major empires, Silveria Empire is the oldest empire in the history. The Empire was established more than 2000 years ago during the Dark Abyss War.

There is a record from the history of the Silveria Empire about their first founding Emperor, and it was stated that he was summoned from another world by the sorcerers from that time as the war was still ongoing.

Because according to the ancient text, they need a person from another world that would obtain special abilities to fight against the demons.

"I know that there are some ancient stories about otherworlders that were being summoned in our world during those times. I don't have any idea if those are facts or just a fragment of fiction. What do you think, Scarlette?"

Ryan said as he opened up a conversation with Scarlette since the crimson-haired woman is a native citizen of this empire. For sure, she knows about the history of the empire she's currently residing in.

'Although it wasn't confirmed that Scarlette Overland is truly a native of this land but since she's a well-known figure within this empire because of her reputation, that doesn't matter anymore.'

Since Ryan's injuries haven't been healed yet, Scarlette took the initiative to be the one who rides the wagon.

Ryan is still recuperating on the backside since it's Scarlette's fault that her companion had injured during their "practice match" and the crimson-haired woman hold her strength back as she didn't want to accidentally kill her first ever companion in the process.

'However, I'm impressed that this man managed to maintain his pose during our so-called practice match even though there are times that he would stumble down but managed to stand against me. Tsk! He hasn't changed at all. Even in the past…'

Scarlette thought as she snickered under her veil and when the crimson-haired woman heard what Ryan stated about the Silveria Empire's history, she takes a peek at Ryan's situation as she saw some bruises and scars that can be seen in his body.

At that moment, she sighed as she turned around and went back to look at the front.

"Facts or not, we can't tell. Words are much more cunning and deceiving than seeing it for yourself."

Scarlette voices out her thoughts and opinions about the Empire's history and Ryan scratch his head because of the crimson-haired woman's riddled wisdom.

'There are times that I'm glad she speaks like normal but whenever she does that, she speaks cryptically that I couldn't understand.'

Ryan thought as he groaned internally because of Scarlette.

"Are you sure you're not a Magic Swordmaster, Scarlette?"

When the crimson-haired woman heard this question again that seems like for a hundredth time, Scarlette sighed as she tried not to shout and maintain her demeanor as she speaks coldly; "No. Asked again and I'll leave you behind."

For that, Ryan immediately shut his mouth when he heard those icy cold voices of hers.

After that, silence reigned over them as their journey continued and after some time had passed then, Ryan speaks in a careful manner.

"Ahmmm…. Scarlette?"

No response.

'As expected, but still…'

Ryan thought as he continued; "I-I know that you didn't want to talk about it, but my conscience wouldn't let me so, I want to ask… why were you crying yesterday? Ahmm… I-if you want, you could share me your problems and I'm all ears to listen."

When the crimson-haired woman heard what Ryan stated, Scarlette looked behind her back and raised an eyebrow and then turned around as she speaks; "Why would you want to know?"

Ryan could feel the coldness from her tone and her statement is sharp like a fine blade that could pierce through the wall.

'It seems that my questioning about yesterday's night incident made her mad based on the tone of her voice…'

Since Ryan couldn't see the crimson-haired woman's expression because of the veil that covers half of her face, he could only gouge her mood through her voice alone.

"W-well… as a companion, even though we haven't known each other that much, you can talk your worries from other people to lessen the burden that you felt. Having someone to listen and understand you would be great."

Ryan said honestly and Scarlette just looked behind her back once more and after that, she turned around once again and spoke.

"Even if I told you, you wouldn't understand it. No matter how much I explained, it will only perplex you even more."

Scarlette said and Ryan noticed the cracking tone when she said those statements and that makes him frowned even more.

At that moment, Ryan felt the need to comfort the woman who felt like she wanted to take all of the burden by herself.

'Everyone admired and praised her because of her reputation but at the end, she is still a woman. A woman who needs to be comforted when all the pain she felt are now boiling up inside her but still, she didn't show any weakness and that makes me respect her even more.'
