Chapter 30 - Ch. 30 You've Finally Come, Chleo

Lord Peskhov's health took a turn for the worse in mid-February. The doctor said the poor older man had a little time, making almost all residents became depressed. Vasili decided to invite Vincentius Regnz and his family to his place.

In the past, he never called Vincent and missed Mr. Peskhov's funeral. This made Vincent disappointed in Vasili and cut ties with him.

He wouldn't make the same mistake. This time, Vasili reached out to Vincent and let him know about Zygfried's situation and invited him to their residence.

He patiently accompanied Zygfried in his spare time. He couldn't count how many times he witnessed the death of his closest ones.

The first was his birth parents. Then his nanny followed by his closest friend and servant in his castle. Since then, he often accompanied his dearest ones to their last breath till he lost counts.

The latest was when Chleo died in his arms. It was the most sorrowful to the point he could fill someone dug his heart, creating a deep hole.

He didn't want to feel the same pain, and he would do anything to change his wife's tragic end.

Vasili felt his sadness multiply as he realized he had to accompany Zygfried's departure for the second time, but he managed.

Vasili loyally attended the older and occasionally took Alexis on his lap while reading a book. Now that Zyg could no longer speak, his sight and hearing senses were barely functioning. A breathing apparatus has been installed in his nose, and an intravenous syringe has been injected into his arm.

It was only a matter of time before the aging older man breathed his last. Vasili still remembered precisely when that man died, so he had prepared himself.

Vasili purposely didn't invite Alexis when Zygfried breathed his last. He knew that the child would cry as soon as he saw his beloved grandfather leave this world forever.

After waiting for what seemed an eternity, Vasili got the news that the Regnz family had arrived at a German airport. Vasili's chest rumbled when he heard this.

Finally, they arrived!

Vasili ordered his white eagle to find out where the Regnz would live. As soon as they arrived at Mittenwald and ascended the mountain, Vasili used his teleport skill and came there personally.

There he saw the endless joy of little Chleora. He had never seen Chleora's wide smile so loose, free without burden as long as he could remember. Nor had he seen Chleora so skilled at swimming like that.

The child was very different from the Chleora he knew. This child is so energetic, as if she has endless stamina without being tired.

"You've finally come. Chleo."

***

Little Chleora was humming cheerfully because she had finished three servings of her favorite ice cream. This is the first time she has gone out of the USA, and this is the first time her parents have been away for two days!

She could act spoiled toward her two favorite uncles. Since uncle Stanley was busy with his job, Chleo only act spoiled to uncle Kinsey.

Her joy knew no bound when Uncle Stanley's wife granted her wish to buy ice cream at the city. After spending time in the ice cream store, Aunt Meisya took her to sightsee the town. Chleo looked around with curious eyes. There were so many birds flying, and there were several passers-by to feed the birds.

What does it feel like to be surrounded by birds? What does it feel like when the bird's beak touches the palm of your hand? Such a sense of curiosity overpowered her.

It was pretty rare for a bird to fly low in New York, let alone people who stop for a moment just to feed the birds. Everyone who lives in New York was super busy and thinks the time is everything.

Chleo let Meisya hold her because she knew Meisya would be worried if she ran away from her. If she was with her parents, she could sprint up to ten meters in front of her family. Sometimes, her father would chase her, or one of the bodyguards would follow her.

If Diego falls asleep, it was her mother who actively followed her. Only her mother was able to match her extraordinarily energetic spirit. It looks like the immense stamina flowing out of her tiny body came from her mother.

Chleo could have run fast because she couldn't wait to see what was in front of her, but she remembered her mother's words. Her mother said that Meisya was pregnant and should not be too tired. Her mother warned her not to exhaust Meisya and the others.

Chleo didn't have the choice but to restrain herself. She was eager to release her grip and dashed away due to Meisya's extremely slow walking.

She could behave until her eyes caught a toy shop, and she could no longer wait.

"Auntie, look! There's a toy shop!" she exclaimed, releasing her grip and rushing into the toy shop.

Chleo looked around the rows of toys until she saw a row of costumes. There were superhero costumes, animated cartoon costumes, and there were also Disney princess costumes!

Her eyes sparkled when she saw Cinderella's pink costume. It was rare to see Cinderella's costume in pink. Usually, the pink one was for the mermaid costume when Princess Ariel became a human or Aurora. But this is a Cinderella costume!

Chleo promptly took one of the costumes and showed it to Meisya.

"Aunt Meisya, have a look!"

"Didn't you say you already have lots of princess costumes at home?"

"But it's pink! Usually, Cinderella's costume is blue."

"Okay, I'll buy it for you."

Chleo did not expect Mesiya to buy it for her. She just wanted to show it. Who would have thought Meisya would buy her willingly without she needs to ask?

With a happy smile, Chleo gave her costume to one of the shop employees. Then she looked at the rows of toys for boys. Of course, she would not forget her brother, who also likes toys. She saw a toy car or plane that looked so ordinary. Diego already has all kinds of toys, including cars, trains, and aircraft. Chleo wanted to find something unique for her baby brother.

"Hi, little girl, what are you looking for?" asked a shopkeeper kindly.

"I'm looking for a toy for my brother. Is there anything special? Something unique." Chleo asked with hopeful eyes.

The shopkeeper smiled friendly. "Of course. I'm pretty sure there is a toy cabinet at the back. You wouldn't find it in other toy stores."

"Really?"

"Yes. Go ahead."

Without the slightest suspicion, Chleo walked quickly towards the back that the shopkeeper had indicated. Strange enough, the more she walked, the darker the room became.

She decided to return because she felt she had found nothing. But when Chleo turned around, something covered her mouth from behind, and she felt her body lifted, causing her to shriek in panic.

"Mmmmhhh!!"
