"No problem," Cole tells you, "Tomorrow though, I can give you a ride to school. If you want me to."
"That would be nice," You said.
"I could follow you home today so that I know where you live," He says, "Then I can meet your parents."
"That's not a bad idea, you meeting my mom," I agree with him, "even though it could be embarrassing."
"What about your dad?" he asks with a curious glint in his eyes.
"He died when I was little," You admit staring at the ground in front of you to avoid looking him in the eye as you walk to your car.
"Oh," He says with regret in his voice, "I didn't mean to bring that up."
"It's fine I didn't really know him and it's hard to miss someone you've never known," You reassure him, "Besides if I got upset every time I was reminded of something bad I'd have a lot of frown lines, and the nickname cry baby. Or something like that."
"I guess that's true," He agrees, "But I am still sorry for bringing him up."
"It's fine," You tell him as you unlock your car door.
"Okay," He says, "I'll go get my car and follow you out. Okay?"
"Okay," You reply then you get into your car as he goes and gets his.
When his car is close to yours, you pull out of your parking space. Then you lead Cole to your house. You had to pull up your GPS because you weren't used to this town yet, but you weren't going to tell anyone about it. It was too embarrassing. You try your best to focus, but you were picturing different scenarios in which this meet and greet was going to go down. You almost miss your road, because you were so distracted.
Once you pull in your driveway with Cole behind you, you turn off your car. When you get out of your car you start walking up to your front door. You feel Cole's presence behind you as you open the door, but you ignore it for a little while and call out to your mom, "Mom I'm home!"
"Okay, honey let me finish this paragraph, and then you can tell me about your first day of school," Your mother responds.
"Okay," You shout then walk into your kitchen. You go straight for the kitchen, and Cole sits down at your breakfast bar. You go to grab yourself a (f/d) and then you remember your manners, "Do you want anything, COle?"
"Yeah what do you have," He asks you.
"Well we have a lot of coke products, different kinds of lemonades, basically say something and we probably have it," You say to him.
"Do you have any (lf/d)?" He asks as you scrunch your nose, "What was that for?"
"What was what for?"
"Why did you scrunch your nose when I said (lf/d)?"
"No reason," you say with a coy tone.
"Uh-huh," Cole says.
"What?" You say playing innocent.
"I don't believe you just scrunch your nose for no reason, that's all," Cole tells you.
"I just don't particularly love (lf/d)" You tell him, shrugging your shoulders.
"Really?!" He says in disbelief, "You don't like my favorite kind of soda? I am hurt."
"I am sorry, but I just don't think that it tastes good," You say.
"It's fine that just means whenever I buy it after we are married, I won't have to worry about you drinking any of it," Cole says nonchalantly.
"After we are married?," I ask, "Aren't you confident that we are going to get that far."
Cole just looks at you with a smile on his face, "I think that you'll find that everyone here eventually gets married to their mate. It's never a question on if but always a question of when."
"Oh," Was all you could reply back to him. You go to say more, but your mom interrupts you.
"Honey how was your-" She stops when she sees Cole, "Oh, hi. I didn't know you brought a friend home."
"Yep. Mom this is Cole, Cole this is my mom," You say introducing the two of them.
"Hello, Mrs. (y/ln)," He holds his hand out for your mom to shake, "It's nice to meet you."
Your mom reaches her hand out to shake Cole's while saying, "Please call me Jess, and the pleasure is all mine, Cole."
"Okay," You say after they let go of each other's hands, "Now that you guys have met each other, I guess it's time for Cole to leave."
"Now come on (y/n)," Jess says to you, "Let's give Cole the option of leaving. Cole how would you like to join us for dinner?"
"I would love to," Cole tells Jess, smiling, "I would have to go home first and tell my parents, and also to drop my school stuff off at home."
"Oh that would be just fine," Jess claps her hands together with joy. You haven't seen your mom this happy since you told her you were excited to move and start fresh, "You go do that and when you come back hopefully dinner will be ready."
"Okay," Cole says as he heads for the front door, "See you in a few Jess. See ya (y/n)"
"Bye," You say with a closed mouth smile. Then when the door is shut tight you turn to your mother, "Seriously? I just met the guy today and you are already inviting him over for dinner?"
"I was just being polite," Your mom replies, "Plus I just want to know how your day went."
"It went okay."
"What happened?"
"Um… nothing. What makes you think something happened?"
"Because I know you, (y/n). Now spill, we have only an hour or so to ourselves before Cole comes back.
"Okay fine," and you tell her all about your day.
You had just finished telling your mom what Cole told you about werewolves and such, when your doorbell rang.
