Kazuma and Aqua now has their adventurer's cards and were now looking for a job alongside Subaru.
"This one looks relatively easy, it's a quest for killing giant toads."
Subaru looked at the request that Kazuma had grabbed, it's official details were:

"I mean with this I would be able to pay back my 1,000 eris and then you guys can split the rest, so 2,000 each for you."
"You're fine with only a thousand?"
"Yeah, I just want to pay back my debt so I can start a true adventuring lifestyle."
"The only problem is that we don't have any equipment…Wait! You were also summoned so you should have gotten something! Right?!"
"I did but I don't know what it is…"
"….Eh? So you mean we have nothing? You should have gotten something while looking through those papers, how don't you know what you got?!"
"Aqua sent me away after a purple paper disappeared and said I chose I skill, I didn't get the chance to look at the skill."
Kazuma turned towards Aqua and hit her head.
"You useless goddess!! You sent him off without him knowing what you sent him off with?! How could someone so useless possibly be a goddess??!!"
Subaru watched as Kazuma continued yelling at Aqua and waited until they were finished before talking again.
"There's something on my adventurer's card but I can't make it out."
"So there really is no way for you to find out? Look at what you did Aqua!"
"I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually! I'm sure it'll activate when I need it most…Like when I'm protecting someone, or about to die!"
"Oi…Why is he more of a main character then me?"
Aqua looked over at Kazuma. "Eh?"
"Why is it that he gets some unknown skill that would activate at a convenient time and save everyone probably, while I'm stuck with a below IQ person like you!"
"Now, now, calm down guys. We should get some equipment, clear this quest and split the reward. After that we can try to figure out what my mystery skill is."
"…Fine. I still don't like how I don't feel like the protagonist…"
After some time later they got equipment and left the walls of the starter town. Out in the field Kazuma and Subaru watched as Aqua was being chased-or rather being hopped after by giant toads.
"Hey, shouldn't we help her?"
"I don't know, I'm kind of enjoying this…"
"Well I'll be going then! You be sure to kill at least one!"
Subaru ran to help Aqua while Kazuma went to attack another giant toad.
"Waaaaahhhhhh!!! Help me! Kazuma! Subaru!"
Subaru was going as fast as he could to help Aqua but she tripped and got eaten by the toad chasing her.
"Aqua!"
Subaru slashed the toad with his short sword and continued until it dropped dead giving him xp afterwards.
"Man it really is like a game…"
"…Thank…You Subaru…"
Behind him was a sniffling, smelly, slime covered girl who was approaching him on her knees. He backed away since he didn't want the slime on him but she continued to inch closer to him. Subaru was continuing to back away when he started hearing screaming that grew louder and louder.
"Wait a second…Kazuma!"
"Subaru! Help me!"
Subaru managed to make it in time to delay the toad that was chasing Kazuma and prevented him from getting eaten.
"Thanks man…I didn't think toads….Would be this hard of a quest…"
"I think….We need more…Manpower…"
They were completely out of breath after running away from the toads and soon after their breathing was beginning to return to normal Aqua came up from behind them.
"I can't believe I backed off from a lowly frog…If the followers of the Axis Church learned of this I'd lose their devotion!"
She ran off at full speed and was targeting one of the toads.
"Hey wait, Aqua!"
"Feel the power of god! Regret that you ever stood in my path and bared your fangs at the gods and repent in the pits of hell! God blow!"
Her fist began to light up and looked to be as if it was on fire. Kazuma and Subaru were both surprised that the useless goddess was suddenly about to be a little useful.
"God blow is a lethal fist that Carrie's a goddess's rage and sorrow! Any it strikes will perish!"
She hit the toad but nothing appeared to happen. Subaru and Kazuma looked at each other before turning back.
"Could it be like an anime move where the damage happens a few seconds after the initial hit?"
"I'm not really sure…"
Aqua looked up towards the toad. "N-Now that I have a good look at you, I think frogs are pretty cute."
The toad bent down and are Aqua making this her second time being a meal for a monster.
"Aqua!"
Subaru and Kazuma started running to save Aqua again and attacked the toad together.
