I looked down at my son's grave near the end of the town. It blended well with the other Gun graves that filled the field. It was a pearl white and has the word Gun at the top as a way for the town to not get the gravestone mixed in with their own.
I kneeled down next to the stone.
"What the hell is this? You don't even have your name on your damn gravestone." I said to the stone.
I picked up my knife and started carving into the stone.
"I bet you don't even know what your real name even is. Do you, Blume? It's alright if you don't. I don't even know my real name. If I even had one." I said
Once I became the third leader, the guards didn't want a leader to be named Gun. As it would be disgraceful to them. So, they gave me a fake name to go by.
My face was covered with tears but I wiped them away to see my handiwork.
"I don't know why your mother chose that name. But it suits you" I laughed "You were so lively and colorful but gone so soon"
Eighteen years had passed and Blume had become a talented Gun and was even looked up to in the town. Unlike me, he loved this town with all his heart. I guess that's why he gave it to them.
A few days ago, he had disobeyed the guards when he refused to murder a family who were overdue on town taxes. Not even a day passed when he was accidentally killed in their "private lessons" as they called them.
My laughter soon turned into a full blown sob.
"Why?! Why did she- why did she have to name you that?! Is this some kind of joke?!" I yelled "I have nothing else for you to take! What else do you want? My life? Have it! I don't care! I never did! You took the only things I lived for!"
I didn't know who I was yelling at or if I was even yelling at anyone. I just wanted to scream to the world.
A few days passed and as much as I wished to be alone, the guards would never leave my sight. They didn't want me making a mistake I would regret. Their words not mine.
It wasn't until a year later when the birth of a baby boy with dark purple hair and green eyes was announced. I couldn't believe the news. Faking a heart attack, I was rushed into the hospital where the baby was kept.
After the doctors were sure that I wouldn't drop dead at any moment, I snuck out to the baby room.
As I expected, the baby was kept in a separate room away from the other babies and it's mother.
I could hear the mother screaming and crying from a nearby room. I followed the screams to the room and saw nurses tying down the mother to the bed to prevent her from leaving. Her messy jet black hair drenched in sweat was flinging around as she yanked on the rope. She screamed but when she locked her blue green eyes with mine, she stopped.
The nurses looked back at me and started freaking out. They pulled me out the door but not before I heard the mother yell "Let me be with my son! At least until he's old enough to leave me! Please!"
I was pulled away from the room and the nurses asked me to go back to my room.
"Do you mind if I see the baby?" I asked
The nurses hesitated as they looked at each other.
"I just want to see him. That's all"
"Promise?" One asked
Another slightly pushed her and started complaining.
"I promise"
The nurse nodded and took me to the room. The other sighed and went back to the mother.
From behind a glass window, I saw a small bundle with the same dark purple hair as me. It was crying as it reached out for its mother's warmth.
As the nurse led me back to my room, I made a promise to myself and to Blume that this child would be set free. No matter how long it takes.
As I looked into the crowd of people screaming and yelling, I thought to myself "Damn. I know I said no matter how long it takes. But I didn't think it would take twenty fucking years!"
I sighed to myself. As the first leader spoke to the crowd I thought about the years that went by. It was a long and shitty life but I'm glad that it'll finally be over soon.
"…and now! For the execution of Haus!" The first leader yelled. I cringed at the name. I've always hated it.
The woman moved away from the stage and a guard with an axe walked towards me.
I heard a far away voice but I closed my eyes and smiled.
"It's alright, Erinnerungen. You don't need to scream any longer. It won't help at all. I'm done with living. I just want to be back with my family"
I screamed at the third leader, Haus as the axe swung down the third leader's neck. After the sword swung down my vision went black.
I kept screaming into the darkness.
"Not yet! Let me save him! Just let me go back!"
I yelled with no end until I felt pain on my face. I blinked and a Cielo came into focus.
"Cielo?" I asked not knowing if this was real or not.
He nodded. I grabbed him and pulled him close. I could touch him and feel his warmth so he must be real.
The other brought food and water. I didn't let go of Cielo's hand as I drank the water. I felt as if I hadn't drank water for days. Afterwards, I told the others about the dream.
