"Who's there?"
The rustling stopped. However, William was paying close attention to that place while Gloria inched closer to the storage room while holding her gun. She would rather take cover first if there was a fire broke out here.
"If you don't answer, I'll assume you're Xermo and shoot you," William added again.
"Wait, wait, don't shoot! I'm a human!"
The bushes moved and a man walked out with disheveled clothing. It was still dark, so they couldn't see the expression clearly, but the voice and the view of the man before them clearly told them that he was a man with average built.
William furrowed his brows and scanned the person before him. He had keener sense and could notice that the man's current condition seemed to be good. His clothing was in good condition and there was no trace of blood apparent on his body.
'A gang member? Or a survivor?'
Gloria was still hiding behind him with her gun ready. It was clear that she was also full of distrust to this new person.
"Do you live nearby?" William asked.
The man was stunned at the sudden unexpected question. He lightly shook his head. "I live a few blocks away, but this is the nearest convenience store."
The nearest?
If William was not wrong, he had seen another one convenience store from the camera that Gloria showed. It might not connect to all areas in this place, but it was more than enough for him to see that this was not the only one.
William still kept his gun ready. "What do you want?"
"I… I just want to get a drink from the convenience store."
"Then you can take it."
As William moved to the side and gave the man a path to walk, the man hesitated instead. He was still looking at William before he opened his mouth, "It's like this… Can I come with you?"
"Come with me? We only meet each other a few seconds ago." William arched his eyebrows.
"That's… you're the owner of that military car, right? Since you can steal a car like that, it means that you can steal another car and leave this place…"
William looked at the man before him deeply. He lightly pointed to the items at the storage room. "In that case, you can help us to bring the items inside out."
"Ok!"
Looking at Gloria, William nodded his head. "You can watch and direct him as you wish."
"Yes."
Gloria walked to the storage room while still keeping her gun close to her. The man looked in her direction with an awkward gaze, but he didn't know how to start a proper conversation. Well, it was not that weird for a woman to be more cautious since they could be taken advantage of in a different kind of situation.
"Gallons," Gloria said in low tone.
"Yes?"
"Bring the gallons out."
"Ah, ok."
Just like that, William continued to bring the gallons outside with the man's help. It didn't take long for them to take all the 24 gallons of water outside.
Brrrm!
The sound of engine halted William's movement. He smiled when he saw the camping bus got closer.
"You're late."
"We need to circle around a bit," Yakov replied. He jumped out of the window and looked at the man who was standing there with arched eyebrows. "And this is?"
"A helper. Bring the gallons inside."
"Got it."
Rozan also walked out, but when Sienna was about to get out, William simply pointed to the driver's seat. It was clear that he wanted her to stay there and possibly drive them if it was necessary.
"She's not working?" the man asked.
"She's a weak girl," William gave his excuse and only ordered the man to bring the food outside and didn't allow him to get up on the camping bus. They also needed a lot of food and thankfully, there were a lot of biscuits in this place. Not the best food but better than nothing.
"Your name?" Gloria asked.
The man was startled. "Ah, I'm Raymond."
"You need the plastic bag to bring the food."
"Ah, ok."
Gloria watched Raymond closely with her gun ready in front of her. Even though she had no intention to shoot him, her dark eyes were watching him carefully. There was not even a moment when Raymond was out of her sight of vision.
"Where do you want to place them all?" Sienna asked when she saw the numerous gallons. There was no place to put it all inside the camping bus.
"In the storage below," Rozan replied and opened a small door under the floor. He grinned. "I created a small storage room near the engine below. It will be enough to store 12 gallons."
Space for 12 gallons is small?
Sienna simply shook her head as she watched them loaded the gallons inside. After the store was filled, they put the gallons in a pile near the bathrooms. The twelve gallons made the space narrower, but they still could pass through.
Afterwards, they put the boxes and plastic bags filled with biscuits and other instant food on the floor and also on the sofa. Yakov also stuffed them into the racks that was prepared there but didn't bother to arrange it yet. They could do it during the journey.
"Are there still a lot?" Yakov asked as he walked out of the camping bus once more. Looking at the box of instant noodles in front of him, he wanted to curse. Their meal would be instant noodles for the next month?
William brought out a plastic bag filled with bathroom necessities. "Just load everything that's possible."
"If the camping bus is too heavy, it won't be able to start properly."
"Don't worry, I change the engine so that the horsepower is higher. In addition, I also chose to add the newest…" Rozan began to explain and only stopped when William raised his hand.
"There's no need to explain everything…."
"Fine."
"Let's just load the items."
"Ok."
Yakov rubbed his forehead. Did all the people they picked up were good in their field? It would be pretty bad when they start to explain things and the others understood nothing….
Why did they pick them up in the first place?
