Chapter 41 - The doting look on his eyes

At sharp 6pm, Anna and Kyle entered the hotel where the charity event was being held.

Anna was clad in white jumpsuit, formal and simple. It gave her a perfect professional look while highlighting her beauty and charm. Speaking of accessories, she only wore a diamond pendant chain and ear studs, simple but complementing her outfit.

Kyle was clad in black suit and though he looked handsome and charming, the immature vibes are still apparent in him.

But thanks to his stylist, the mature vibes at last dominated his teenage am vibes.

As soon as they entered the spacious, european styled venue, they quickly spotted Aiden and his secretary.

As it is the dress theme, ladies are wearing white while men went with black.

Black complimented Aiden's demeanor and aura. He is looking especially charming and intimidating today.

He was having a drink with a middle aged business magnate when he noticed them and started to walk towards them.

"Her name is Zara. She is the female secretary of Mr. Fletcher." Kyle whispered to his sister when he noticed her sizing up Zara.

"Why didn't I see her before?" Anna asked.

"She is temporarily acting as vice president of Mr. Fletcher's company now. So, she is usually busy and only appears with Mr. Fletcher at important events like these as his female partner." Kyle answered.

"I heard that Mr. Fletcher's grandfather, the chairman, really likes her a lot," he added.

Before Anna could say anything, Aiden walked to them with his secretary at his tow.

"You look beautiful, Ms. Lopez," Aiden said as soon as he approached Anna. Though he sounded perfunctory, only he knows how sincere his compliment is.

She is really breathtaking!

Her collarbones and slim nape of her neck always used to turn him on. It is no different now.

"Thanks for the compliment, Mr.Fletcher." Anna thanked him, her voice mechanical as if she had used this line many times in her life, which is not a lie.

"Come on Kyle, I will take you to meet some people." Aiden shifted the conversation to something else after listening to her indifferent voice.

She used to love it when he complimented her but now….sigh.

Zara and Anna exchanged polite smiles and followed their boss's.

Socializing with people is one of the most tedious and hateful things for both Anna and Kyle. While Kyle didn't have a choice and could only push himself to do it, Anna had to act like a responsible secretary and follow Kyle everywhere he went.

Taking this as an advantage, Aiden tried his best to pick up conversation with her but couldn't push it further as they are in public and Anna is trying to be low key.

He knows that many ladies (few men as well) have their eyes set on him. They might cause trouble to Anna if they see them moving close. Not everyone knows how he looks but the upper society knows him very well as he was once a legendary businessman.

So, the wife fans he has are either from powerful families or well established persons. They are not to be trifled with.

And, it is not like he can't protect the woman who is his first love. He just knows that Anna has a lot on her plate already. Green eye monsters should be least of her concern as long as he maintains distance.

When Aiden finished introducing Kyle to some of the potential clients and renowned magnates, four of them sat down at a table.

Anna cherished the silence and elegantly finished her cheesecake before filling her plate with a couple of macaronis.

She engrossed herself in the pleasure of desserts and that brought a smile on Aiden's lips. Some things never change and Anna's affinity for sweets is one of those.

That smile became a grin when he remembered how he used to coax her down with desserts whenever she was angry at him.

That used to work like magic most of the time. She was a glutton who was easy to please.

While he was busy walking down the memory lane, the doting look in his eyes didn't go unnoticed by his shrewd secretary and the other person who was looking at them from a distance.
