"I am sorry." Anna sobbed. After all, there is nothing she could do. She already initiated something she doesn't have any control on. He will be in pain no matter whether she stays here or leaves.
"So, how do you plan to heal me? Do you think there is a cure to this poison?" he asked, holding her chin, his sharp eyes probing through her eyes.
"Anna!!" a loud shout startled Anna but Aiden didn't move. He didn't let her go…
He is afraid that once he let her go, she would disappear from his life just like how she did, a few years back. He is willing to bear the pain of seeing her rather than feeling that emptiness inflicted by her disappearance.
Anna gently pushed him away and moved away from him, before wiping tears off.
She stood up and she was about to leave but Allen came running to her, concern evident in his eyes.
As soon as he noticed that it's raining he stormed out in order to search for Anna. He knows about her trauma and he is clearly aware of the reason as well.
Although he tried his best to search for Anna, the garden outside the hotel was very huge and it was moreover raining and dark.
It took him this long to spot her.
When he saw her safe, he sighed in relief. He thought that she would have fainted somewhere as it was not a single thunder but a series of thunders.
He was about to rush towards her and hug her but stopped as soon as he saw Aiden sitting on the couch in the patio.
It is only when he notices Anna wearing Aiden's jacket. After seeing them together, it didn't take him much time to guess what would have happened now.
"Ms. Lopez, your friends Ms.Danvers and Mr. Danvers are looking for you. They seem worried so I came searching for you" Allen said, pretending as if he doesn't know Anna.
Anna nodded her head.
As Allen didn't want to divulge his identity as her friend/colleague she is more than willing to comply. It is for the best to hide their friendship otherwise people in Danver corps will try all their means to bootlick.
Meanwhile, Aiden looked at Allen with sharp eyes. It didn't escape his sight of how concerned Allen was when he rushed towards Anna.
Since morning, Aiden has been having a fishy feeling towards Allen.
At first he thought that Allen had a dangerous motive for approaching Danvers' corps. After all, why will a director from the top most company travel this long just to look over a project?
Just a professional team and if needed, an executive would be enough. But Allen willingly came forward to work with Danvers corps.
So, Aiden couldn't help but suspect that this might have something to do with Grandmother and grandfather Danvers death.
But now, it is clear that Allen is here for Anna.
It indeed surprised him that Anna has such powerful connections.
But it didn't bother him as much as how Allen is trying to cling to Anna.
"Mr. Fletcher, you might catch a cold. Let's go in" Anna said as she approached Aiden.
Now, Aiden is aware that Allen and Anna are familiar with each other. Even Allen knows who Aiden is, however, they couldn't announce it out loud.
So, they could only pretend to be strangers.
Aiden nodded his head. However, when he tried to stand up, he groaned and slumped back onto the couch.
"What happened?" Anna asked, approaching with concern evident in her voice.
It made Aiden smile. She is genuinely worried about him.
Whenever he sees her like this, concerned and worried about him, he could tell that she still loves him. It is obvious in her eyes.
Seeing her act like this only strengthens his belief that she left him because of some forced circumstances and not because of her falling out of love with him.
After a lot of investigation and brain storming of many other scenarios of why she must have left him, he started to believe that there is some external force that coerced her to break up with him and disappear from his life.
He just needs one piece of evidence. One reason to explain that she broke up with him against her will. That would dissolve the hate he has for her and he would be able to love her purely like before without any pain in his heart.
Meanwhile, Allen didn't like how close Anna and Aiden already are. They met each other a few days back and it seems like they are already getting close to each other.
Before Anna could check Aiden's sprained leg, Allen intervend.
"I will look," he said and kneeled down to inspect Aiden's ankle.
"Have you applied more force on your right leg, Mr. Fletcher?" Allen asked. He is a doctor as well, just like Anna.
"Yes," Aiden indifferently answered, not bothering to give much explanation.
But Anna understood what caused this. He carried her here and while doing it, he must have put weight on his right leg which was already injured during the accident the day before yesterday.
Her guilt, which was already brimming, swelled again.
"Let me help you" Anna offered as she placed his arm on her shoulder and helped him to stand.
Aiden leaned against her and was about to walk but Allen interrupted them again.
It's obvious that he is jealous. He didn't like how Aiden is using every opportunity to get close to Anna again.
"Ms. Lopez, you already look weak. Let me help him" Allen 'generously offered.
"Thanks, Mr. Keller. I feel comfortable with Ms. Lopez's height. I might not place my arm comfortably on your shoulder." Aiden immediately declined Allen's offer.
Meanwhile, Anna felt her headache increase.
Although she and Aiden are not on good terms, he agreed that he still loves her though there is hate mixed in it. It also explains that he is still protective of her.
She can't blame Allen as well. He has seen her suffer and he hates Aiden for that. As he knows the reason for the breakup, he could only blame Aden for that.
