I sat there with a map in my lap and my drawing pad. A knock on the door made me look up get up as Uncle growls in his sleep and I went to the door and opened it and stepped out. "Yes?" I asked Doc Luca.
"Hi um, Maybe you can help us." He said softly as I shut the door.
"Help you with what?" I asked him.
"We are not sure if a child is hiding or was taken by his biological parent that had there custody removed." He said as he blushed and I stiffened.
"I can help do you have anything with the young one's scent?" I asked him.
"Yes." He said handing me a stuffed toy.
After scenting the toy I handed it back to him. "Do you have a map of the building?" I asked as I sneezed.
"Yes." He said handing it to me and a device. "Press this button and it will let you communicate with us if you find him please let us know same if you don't." He said as I nod and take off. I just followed the scent from the room and then I was stopped at a locked door.
"Young Healer," I said to the device as I looked at a map.
"Have you found him?" He asked me.
"I followed his scent to a storage room in the basement but the door is locked. I need someone to open it or do I break the handle?" I asked him.
"Please do not break the door I am on my way." He said as I pressed my ear to the door and listened. I heard the kid crying but no one else was in the room from what I could tell. I hear the hurried footsteps of the young Healer as he all but slides past me. I moved back and he opened the door and the kid jerked and he whimpered as the healer spoke. "Oh, thank goodness Neal your okay." He said with a sigh and he flinched back when the healer moved towards him and I grabbed his arm.
"Can I talk with him?" I asked softly. He looked from me to him then sighed.
"You saw it too huh?"
"Indeed."
"Okay." He said taking the device and walked out talking on it.
"Hello, Little one," I said squirting down to his level.
"Who are you?" He asked me his accent was strange on my ear.
"My name is Diana. What is your name?"
"Cory." He said softly.
"Can I ask why your hiding Cory?" I asked him.
"I saw my Dad." He whispered. "If he finds me he's going to hurt me." His eyes tear up and it took everything not to growl at that.
"Okay, we won't let him hurt you little one," I tell him.
"I want my Mom and Papa." He says as he started crying.
"Where are they, hun?" I asked him.
"Work." He whimpered.
"They will be here when they get off I bet," I tell him as I stand up and offer my hand to him. "Let's get you back to bed and I will make sure your safe. Have you heard of Vampires?" I asked him.
"Momma works in the state department I know that they are coming to talk with the other leaders." He said with a sniffle.
"Yea we are." I agreed as I moved over to him. "How about we get you up to your room and I will stay with you until we can get you a guard until your mom and papa get here." I tell him as I held out my arms to him and he crawled into them and I picked him up.
"Why did you ask about Vampires." He asked.
"I am one," I tell him as I stand up and my shadow comes out. "Bring me Magda," I tell it and then headed out to where the young healer was waiting.
"Cory you had us worried." He said.
"I saw him he was here!" Cory said and Dr. Luca stiffened as he growls his eyes turning amber.
"Don't worry we will make sure he doesn't get near you hun." He said as we headed back to his room. We got there and my shadow brought Magda up with it.
"Oh wow." Cory said.
"Cory this is Magda shes a good friend of mine and will stay with you while I check on my cousin and grab a book okay."
"Okay." He said as I set him down.
"What is going on?" She asked me.
"Abusive father is around and not suppose to be," I tell her.
She growled under her breath. "I will watch him till his Mother gets here." She said.
"I will be right back with a book," I tell her.
"Thanks," She said as she went into the room and I can hear him start rapid-fire questions at her.
"Thank you for this. I know it's not your responsibility." Dr Luca started.
"Children are everyone's responsibility. A missing child would send the whole clan into a panic." I tell him.
"I see." He said.
"If you have a photo of the father who is not suppose to be here I can handle him," I tell him.
"You're not going to kill him are you?"
"As much as it is the way of the Vampire to kill in the healer house is taboo we have more respect than that." I tell him.
"Okay." He looked around and then he spotted someone. "Lily can you come here." He said as the woman walked over to us.
"Hey, Doc why do I only have one patent?" She asked.
"Lily this is Lady Diana Aracaira of the Northern vampire lands we have a turning 17-year-old on the floor you and me are the only ones allowed in." He tells her.
"Princess." I looked back as Lucas walked out of the room.
"Is something wrong Head knight Lucas?" I asked him.
"Is something going on?" He asked looking at me.
"No, but can you get the Guide to the Guardians and give it to Magda in that room," I said pointing at it.
"Is there a reason your Lady knight is here?" He asked me.
"Protection of a child from someone who wants to hurt him." He growls softly as I spoke.
"I will get her the book and if we can get a description I will take a patrol and make sure whoever it is isn't here."
"Thank you," I said to him then turn to the Nurse. "I did not mean to be rude it is nice to meet you caretaker."
"Caretaker?" She asked looking offended.
"Apologies but that is what we vampires call the helpers of healers," I explained.
"Oh." She said softly. "I apologize I should not have jumped to the concussion I did come to. What do you need from us?" SHe asked me.
"Honestly nothing," I tell her. "We did not take him because we understand that legally you have a responsibility to care for young James."
"So this is just to keep us from getting a lawsuit thrown at us great thank you for your understanding." She sighed as she rubbed her head. "May I ask why we are the only ones allowed in?"
"Honestly we don't want anyone not family in there but we have come to an agreement that you two may enter but no one else," I tell her.
"Right got it." She said with a nod.
"Here," Luca said handing Lucas a photo. "This is the man that is not supposed to be here." He tells us.
"Got it I will do a sweep and make sure he is not here."
"Thank you." Dr. Luca said and I nodded to her and headed back to the room to check on everyone.
"Everything okay?" Father asked me.
"Missing kid scared of his father who hurt him," I said father growled softly his eyes hardened. "I have Magda with him until his Mother and Papa can get here from work and Lucas is making sure he's not here," I said softly.
"Good girl." He said softly.
I smiled at him and hugged him as I sighed. "Mother will be here in the morning for you guys so get some rest."
"I can not sleep with the smell of this place." He said softly.
"I get that." I agreed with him.
"Who did you leave with the kid?" He asked me.
"Madga." I said. "He seemed to be scared of males so I have my best female knight to watch him till his momma can be with him." I sighed.
"Smart thinking." Father hummed.
I looked up a few minutes later as Lucas cam in scowling. "Anything Lucas?" I asked him.
"I did not find him in the healer house he was out in the lot though." He tells us. "I told him not to step foot on this floor or he would be forcefully removed."
"Good I will gladly remove him." I smiled at him.
