Chapter 14 - C13 Place Cachee

Respected Headmistress Maxime,

I am honored to be accepted into the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. I agree to attend Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, and will not require any assistance for purchase of school materials.

Yours Sincerely,

Charlus Potter

Place Cachée | 31st June 1985 | 8 AM

Charlus yawned. "Why did we have to wake up so early? Once Harry wakes up, he'll be mad at us for going out alone."

Sirius looked at Charlus and said, "Charlus. Harry is not like you and me. He has a lot of fame in the wizarding world. With this fame comes a lot of jealousy and hate. Harry was said to defeat a dark lord called Voldemort. Now, his supporters walk freely through the streets. If Harry comes out, he'll be in danger. This is also one of the reasons why Harry will only go to Hogwarts, and no other place. Do you understand?"

Charlus nodded. He understood that he was very lucky to not be as famous as Harry. He felt bad for him, and decided that he would make up for today by bringing him something too.

The two first entered the Paris Branch of Gringotts. When Charlus entered the bank, he was shocked by how the goblins looked like. This was his first encounter with non-human sentient beings with thinking ability. Sirius took Charlus and went to a counter in the side.

"Charlus Potter would like a readmission of his key."

The goblin looked at Charlus and said, "Readmission of Vault keys require confirmation via blood."

Sirius nodded, and the goblin took the two inside into a room. The goblin brought a needle, and pricked Charlus' finger. The goblin collected the blood drops in a porcelain bowl. The goblin looked at the two and said, "The blood test takes 5 minutes. Detailed reports about rare conditions and ailments can be made available for 100 Galleons."

Keep in mind that the exchange rate was 1 Galleon for 6 Euros. The amount was not small by any means. Sirius, however, was unaffected. He simply took out 600 galleons from a pouch hanging on his waist.

The two waited for a few minutes, and the goblin came with the report.

"Master Charlus is indeed a descendant of the Potter family and he is eligible to receive the key as the oldest living descendant. He is also eligible for two other vaults."

He handed the report to Sirius. "This has the ailments and conditions that the boy has." Sirius took it and stored it without checking.

Sirius was slightly relieved and confused. Inside his heart, some part did not trust the mysterious stranger who dropped a child, claiming him to be the missing child of James and Lily Potter. However, now Sirius was relieved that there was no longer any confusion and doubt. He was also confused as to how Charlus would have access to 2 other vaults. He knew about the trust vault that Lily had made James set up, but he was unaware of any others.

"Which ones are they?"

"Vault 688, Trust Vault of Charlus Potter. And Vault 712."

"Vault 712?"

Sirius expected an explanation as to the purpose of the vault when it was told like when the goblin explained what vault 688 was.

"This vault was opened by an anonymous person on December 21st 1981, and had one deposit. The deposit was one letter. The letter was checked, and it has no malicious curses or signs of dark magic."

"Checked?"

"It is the policy of Gringotts to check all contents of all Vaults for any and all magic considered unlawful as per the 'Goblin Banking Act 1912' approved by the then Ministry of Magic."

Sirius thought for a while and decided that he would take Charlus there, because if his suspicion was right, the vault was opened by the person who saved Charlus.

The two left the room and were accompanied by another goblin to their vaults. The first vault they visited was the trust vault Charlus' parents left him.

The vault was full of money, but money only. All the family heirlooms were in the main Potter Vault, which only Sirius could partially access, as he was the guardian of both the Potters. They took 200 Galleons with them and left the vault.

Then they went to Vault 712. Charlus stood up and said, "I will go alone." Sirius nodded. He was very liberal, and since there was no dark magic, Sirius was fine with Charlus going alone.

Charlus went inside and saw a stone pedestal in the middle of the room. There was a source of light directly above the pedestal, but Charlus couldn't find it. He walked forward and looked at the letter closely.

He picked up the letter, and opened it. It had only one line. Charlus read the line and put the letter back.

When Sirius and Charlus left the bank, Sirius asked Charlus, "Not going to tell me what the letter was about?"

Charlus stuck out his tongue and said, "No chance."

Sirius laughed it off and the two started to shop for Charlus' academic year.

"When are we going to tell Harry?" Charlus asked Sirius.

"Soon. Soon." Sirius decided that they should tell him today, but he didn't want Charlus to get tensed because of that. "So first lets finish off the books. That's 90% of the entire list."

Charlus looked at Sirius and asked with pleading eyes, "Will I get a wand? Please, can I get a wand?"

Sirius refused Charlus directly. "Absolutely not! The first 2 years at Beauxbatons are completely theory based. Why would you need a wand?"

Sirius was right. Beauxbatons mostly taught magical theory to First and Second Year students. The only non magical theory classes were etiquette and flying.

Charlus whine a bit while they took their books. The bookstore had a pack for First years where all the books were packed neatly, so they saved a lot of time.

Then they got Charlus' uniform ready. These were the only supplies required for Beauxbatons. For his robes, they required black robes with the Beauxbatons crest as well as family crest if they had one. So Charlus had his robes have the Potter crest on the right of his chest and the Beauxbatons crest on the left.

When they finished shopping and reached home, the first thing they heard was Harry crying.
