Chapter 3 - Surface Level

Yet another new setting, a large planet which is primarily an ocean, but millions of acres of metal land built on top of it. Most of this "land" is covered with factories, smoke, and fossil fuels. The focus is on the back of a large factory, where there's a little dock for ships to come through with materials, and Morte's large ship is floating above it. On the dock are three shady looking characters, all of which are looking morbidly terrified. One of them, a green-ish man with a glass tube on his head showing his brain, stumbles over his words in fear saying, "He's here! He's landing.. but where's Calvon?! Why isn't he here yet!?". This is Biran. The other two behind him, a small fly creature named Shizaku and a woman with four spider legs named Retsej shiver in fear as a tall rectangular box flies down and lands at the end of the dock. The doors slowly open, the three shady characters have a look of hatred as they see a figure ominously walk out of the rectangular box. Morte.

Biran runs up to Morte and says, "H-Hello Sir! Welcome to the factory!". Morte looks and notices that there are only three people, not including himself. "Where's Evon? Why isn't he here?". Biran is sweating and tries to think of an explanation, telling him, "Uhmm uh I'm sorry... I guess he's a little late.." He then notices something coming down in the sky, a small red spaceship in the shape of a sports car, yet no wheels, and the door is a little hatch on top rather than the sides. "Finally here!". Biran says to Morte in relief. Biran thinks to himself, "I hope he's got a good excuse... this stunt could get us killed." Calvon parks the flying car on the side of the dock, hovering above the endless ocean beneath them. The hatch opens, and a man wearing a strange T-Shirt, one sleeve being long and the other being like a tank top, waves from halfway out of the car, saying, "Hey, Boss! Sorry I'm late!" He gets out completely and walks up to Morte to shake his hand as an apology, saying, "I was visiting Leah." Morte doesn't shake his hand, and after about a few seconds of silence Morte punches Calvon right in the face and sends him to the ground, giving him a black eye instantly.

From the ground, Calvon removes his fake happy attitude and gives Morte a look of pure hatred. Morte wipes his hand on his clothing, while saying to Calvon, "Don't give me that look. You're an embarrassment of a worker. You're the least important one here. I'm doing good work here, striving for a goal to make everyone happy! Working for something that no one's ever accomplished! Yet you always slow me down. You even decided to go and have kids which you knew the consequences for. You've been working for me for seven years and still can't do anything right." Calvon just quietly stands up, wiping off the blood from his swollen eye, and hoping for this meeting to end as soon as possible. Morte turns around to the main mechanic for the robots, the girl with spider legs, "Retsej, I have some requests for the robots you all are making. I put cameras on the prototypes to find flaws and ways to improve. Make their material stronger and more durable, make their aim more precise and fire rate faster, and make them more stable and with better balance. Can you do that?". Morte glares at Retsej as she says, "O-of course, Sir!". Morte begins to walk back to his ship, and says to the four workers, "I expect new models and prototypes within the next month. Also, set up your signal. I hate coming to this dumpster of a planet. I'll be off now.". He walks back into his little rectangular compartment he landed on the docks with, and blasts off, back up to the larger ship, and then leaves the planet.

Silence echoes around the workers for a minute, as tension builds up within Biran. He throws his hands up saying, "Thank god he's gone!". And then he turns around to point at Calvon's face, "And thank god we're alive!" Calvon slaps away Biran's hand and furiously says, "Jesus, get off my ass! I got here as soon as I could! Sorry that I was visiting my fucking girlfriend!" Biran retaliates with "That's not the point! You're risking our lives so you can talk to some chick you decided to have kids with! Which, you're probably never gonna see again by the way!" Calvon turns around and says, "Whatever, I'm going home." As Calvon's walking away, Biran points and yells "No! You're staying! Morte promised us normal lives if we just work for him long enough. And I ain't risking that!" There's silence for a few seconds as Calvon stands there, thinking. "...fine.." he reluctantly says, thinking about his girlfriend and two sons, who he may have a chance to reunite with.

We cut back to Wally's school being brightened by the large sunrise. It's the next day, and it's the student's first day of training and learning. In the kitchen, Wally lets out a large yawn as he's getting coffee. Thanian walks in, pointing outside and says, "Everyone's lined up outside waiting for you." Wally gets a mug of coffee and says "Alright let's get this done." Thanian replies to that with "And I thought you'd be excited about teaching. Considering you literally adopted all 14 of these kids!" as he nervously looks out to see the overwhelming amount of students he has to teach. Wally looks out too, and asks "Is 14 a lot? When I was in school there were probably 20 something." Thanian replies with "Well I went to probably the poorest school in the universe, so there was just me and a couple others. OH! Also, I've been having a question about some of the kids you found." Thanian points out the window to the twins, James and Chris. James and Chris then both simultaneously have a "glitch". Their bodies twitch, and they look like they're torn apart for a second before being put back together. A couple kids around them back up a bit, because of how bizarre it was. "They did that last night a couple times, but you went to sleep so early that I couldn't ask!" Wally looks at him with a smirk and says "I really don't know how or why that happens, but when these kids were younger and we went to a bunch of adoption centers to enroll the students, these two were fascinating to me. And teaching kids with a disability like that would be pretty accomplishing, wouldn't it? Are those the only ones you were curious about?". "No, actually." Thanian begins. He points out the window again and asks, "What about those two? McJ and Cyrus?". "Heh, they're hybrids." Wally says, somewhat vaguely. "Hybrids? Hybrids of what?". "Well McJ is a Alpha Human and Roarlilly hybrid." Wally explains. "And Cyrus?" Thanian asks again. "I think it'd be cooler for you to find out later. Now I'm gonna go, I'm already late."

Wally and Thanian walk out of the school to see these kids surprisingly calm and lined up. Ruby walks up to Wally and asks, "Why are you late? Don't you have an alarm? If you're going to be a teacher, you should be waking up before any of us." "Yeah, yeah, I got it, thanks." Wally replies as he keeps walking up to the children. Ruby walks up to Alth and asks "Do you know what's up with Wally? He seems to just not care about anything. Not even the kids he apparently wants to teach." Alth looks down to her and says, "I've noticed it too, but that's just how Wally is. He's always been too laidback and a bit reckless. I've been in a lot of action with him, fighting people and whatnot. And he's just always like that, but he also takes charge if he needs to and doesn't take risks. He almost always goes after potential problems, just to keep a sense of control, he has good intentions when it comes to that though." Alth explains. "Oh wow, that's… kinda messed up. A little paranoid if you ask me." Ruby replies. "Uhh, yeah. I know how you feel. But the real messed up thing about this school is that he didn't adopt all these kids just so he can be a good influence and a father figure, while simultaneously making them good fighters." Ruby has a shocked expression on her face and says "Wait, what?! What is the school for then?" Alth puts his hand on his face and says "Damn, probably shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you. I know how you are, you'll try to stop him, and he'll just fire you. Plus, us three made a pact together to keep our secrets. Even though I'm just as against this whole gig as you are." Ruby stands there speechless, wondering what Wally has planned. "Why...what? Why are you helping him? You and Tayer! Why?" Ruby asks him frantically. "I'm his friend, and you know how close he is with Tayer. We're being supportive, but we're also going to draw the line when we need to. This is a good thing he's doing... on the surface. We just need to keep it surface level."
