The atmosphere of misery floes left behind by the presence of sharp cold air, the rumblings, the crumbling of huge Mountains of glacier extending throughout the continent, colossal icicles spreading across the whole Humane kingdom and far changes the whole regions in seconds as snows, hales rained down on the frozen permafrost causing uncontrollably shivering to the bones of every single being present which only few could endure.
"Ugh! W-why won't my p-potency work?! I-I'm the main c-character for g-goodness' s-sake!" Jangnap shivering, half frozen, upside down caught in one of the large mountains of glacier at an extremely high height, his frosty clothes drawn off almost covering his face,
Damn, why isn't my potency working! He yelled in his mind trying all his possible best to remove himself from the strange icy entanglement.
Suddenly lemon feathers were seen wobbling down around him then one landed on his nose. He blew it away with a sneeze then blinked thinking it rains feathers now?... then he manageably lifted his head to his amazement, he spotted in the light blizzard a brooding figure having a low haircut, clothed in a fluttering black cloak slightly covered in snow, with side by side spread out lemon wings watching the princess with the king in the sky. He was no other than Skylark upon his majesty lemon wings on the edge of the glacier where Jangnap was half frozen under.
Jangnap shrieked then he swallowed,
"y-you j-just t-took a-away twenty years of m-my life s-span… and why do you a-appear like that of the m-main character of a s-story."
Skylark ignored, now scanning through the whole cold terrain for Luna then to his lower left side he took notice of Luna immotile, one side of her body completely trapped in glazed ice.
"Uh, Luna..." He swiftly flew to her.
"W-wait, come s-save m-meeee!" Jangnap yelled with his shivering arms stretched to his newly assumptive savior.
"What in the world happened?" Skylark questioned as he landed lightly near Luna. He tried breaking the ice with one of Luna's frosty weapon he picked up on the snowy ground.
Luna grunted only half of her mouth was slightly opened then she exhaled, rolled her right eye to Skylark
"… is that you, Skylark?" Her sight appeared blurry at first then slowly got back to normal, "where, where I'm I?" She gazed to her right and to every direction her strained eye could go.
"Huh, are we-- when did we start training with the princess? For her potency to be this tensed something must have gone wrong-- ugh—" She heavily grunted, on seeing one side of her body frozen. It hurts so much.
Luna rolled her right eye to the winged being.
"Skylark, where is the princess?"
Skylark still trying nonstop in breaking the ice, didn't say a word suddenly the frosty large pick-axe in his hands shattered like glass, spawning no effect on the ice Luna was frozen in.
Skylark only blankly stared at the shattered weapon.
"I will--Huh," he raised his head to Luna, "you mean, you don't remember ever coming here or remember ever maliciously fighting against the princess (well, not that I stayed awake to watch the fight too) and every incident you did the night before?"
"… I--I don't remember. All I know is…" she shut her mouth in. All she'd remember was crying herself to sleep the night she was told her eldest sister died… that's all she could remember.
"Did I sleep walked all this time? Which day is this?" She asked as her stare became so intent on Skylark.
"Hmmm… that strange…" Skylark walked around still in the view of Luna's, searching for something that could crack the ice at least.
As a watch-person the drunken me cuts five leaving only the Princess all alone. Luna as the bouncer seems not to remember fighting the princess in a deadly battle which by my calculations it resulted to the frozen kingdom yet again, sigh, what a let-down on our parts being her direct guardians.
He looked straight to Luna with a serious look, "or are you just pretending you don't know?"
"Do you think I'm lying?! WHERE IS THE PRINCESS?!" Her voice became loud within the light blizzard.
"… Nevermind," he continued his search, "on the other hand it felt like maybe, I mean truly you're speaking the truth because you weren't behaving like the usual grumpy yet talkative self we all know when you're about to fight. All I know, the princess tried fighting you and I was about stopping her and wait, oh that happened—damn the liquor…" He kicked the snowy ground in vexation.
Luna only watched as Skylark rubbed his face hard.
He dropped his hand.
"Anyways what I know is this, something bizarre is going on here and—wwoowow…"
Skylark stopped talking as he came across a long estranged white spear with a split sharp golden tips, its long shaft shows many tiny golden rune characters engraved roundabout it, gently laid among few frozen debris on the snowy ground as though it was placed there on purpose by someone or something.
He blinked contemplating and admiring what was and why was it there.
He paused for some moments.
Looked to his right, left, up, down and back to the estranged spear, he would have easily noticed it when he flew to Luna moments ago but he didn't, definitely this too is a bizarre situation.
Then shrugged his shoulders less concerned.
He held it, picked it up slowly and gently like a new fragile invaluable object, suddenly what was estranged to him felt connected, as though something that was meant to be was completed in his hand at last.
He felt refreshed as if he had used the spear for a really long time, I am--
"--Ugh! W-why in the freakily-freak this p-potency of mine's not w-working a-at a-all. W-why!" Jangnap yelled cutting off the enlightened moments between Skylark and the Spear.
Skylark and Luna both dropped their eyelids in disappointment looking straight at Jangnap above fuming at himself with a folded arms.
"And who are you?" Skylark and Luna both asked Jangnap at the same time.
Jangnap stopped his fuming as he rolled his eyes to them with a smile.
"I-It is I, Jangnap the--"
"Whatever, as you can see," Skylark walked to where Luna was with the engaged spear in his hand. "As I said earlier the princess is the cause of this disaster, so for now let's focus on getting you out."
He was about striking the ice with the engaged spear, none of them noticed but as he lifted the weapon, the golden runes on it vibrated, changed shapes and directions for a brief moment.
"Oh! Oh! The ice, The ice are melting!"
Someone randomly spoke among the mountain glaciers, the three of them heard it staring straight to where the voice was coming from.
"Huh, it's true…" Luna spoke as Skylark paused.
She felt a little relieved in her left arm and leg which she was able to move before long she broke out of the slushing ice effortlessly then kneeled exhausted in cold vapor strongly oozing out from her bulky body as everyone in the kingdom witnessed the mountains of glacier dissolving to liquid slush and the scream and sound of Jangnap falling hard on the melting icy ground, slowly and calmly the kingdom regained its light.
"It's okay, everything is turning back to normal, you did great in controlling your potency." Randall softly said to his daughter.
"… I…" Wren wailed buried his face deep into his father's body unable to look at anyone including herself.
"May I interrupt this moment. Your highness, the Protector?" A voice was heard behind them known to be the Black-furred Immortal.
"You've done enough trouble to my daughter already?!" Randall's eyes flamed in white gazing at the black-furred Immortal. "What more do you want-?"
"--We are solely here to take the Protector with us of course,"
"What did you mean by that? No one is taking my daughter away."
"I understand where you're coming from, your highness however we have earlier discussed about almost everything to you, she need to be trained by we the Immortals on how her potency should be used, she is the only being who could protect we the Immortals from what to come and of course it includes this world every known and unknown race lives in."
Randall's face hardened as the Black-furred Immortal continued."Think about the very kingdom your father, the kings and queens before him needed to protect by all means. Please, think this through."
"I'm tired…" Wren whispered in her Father's arms.
"Protector…" The Black-furred Immortal called.
Randall looked down to her daughter.
"I said, I'm tired! Don't you hear me!" She screamed at the Immortal. "Living such petty kind of life that has already been decided!" a tear on her eyes froze in sleet immediately it came out.
She left her Father's arms fully facing the Black-furred Immortal yet her eyes were tightly shut tormented, trying hard to ignore the painful scenery below.
"I don't need your training, from the beginning I never decided I will be the protector of the world, Look at me and what I have done I'm but a child, I'm a walking catastrophe!"
"Indeed you're, Princess Wren." The Black-furred Immortal agreed.
"Then—" Wren bit her lips in discomfort.
"Never did I chose this path, you say but a princess who acknowledged despite all chose to unite the Nymphs to some base agreement when she comes of age, kept indoor from external crisis, now revealed to be the protector of our world, Surely we Immortals feel the burdens on your shoulders at this very young age however know this protector no one is excepted of this few words. As we grow; Pain becomes Inevitable."
Wren breath harshly as her teeth slowly gnashed at each other then she voiced softly. "Since this and that of me were decided even before I was born; As an immortal I believe in a way like the SEER, you knew this was eventually going to happen to me."
"That, I will say… We apologize. We didn't see it coming nor the regressor told us about what will happen before we came. Luckily as you can see below us by reversing your potency thousands of lives were not lost over hundreds killed tonight by your potency. We urge you, worry not and come with us as we have discussed not too long ago to groom you as the protector."
Wren groaned, her hands strongly squeezed in ball of fists.
Hundreds!...
"Believe me Protector, you are not in any position to decline this, I'm sure the consenting silence received from your father tells otherwise. The end of the world is near, what you only witness today was caused by your potency trying to manifest itself however billions of lives will tarnished if you don't do anything about becoming who you're meant to be, we beg of you, This is not a matter to be taken lightly. We'll show you the way to control your potency, and the whole wide world will follow your lead."
She slowly opened her eyes, below faint cries were heard caning both her ears and now drained heart, regarded every being tending to their loved ones, over-grown snorting Big Tee rescuing everyone including few off the surviving higher ups from the underground fight club trapped in the ice, also extremely loud shockwaves were heard and felt coming from the distant clashing between Ezinne Caneloveft and the Two-faced Immortal then she could see Skylark holding in his right hand, a long object tightly wrapped with cloak as he carried weakened Luna on his other shoulder, they also were staring back at their princess with such pity.
She shut her eyes yet again and deeply grunted.
Ever since Wren was three she happily listened to all her Father's adventures around the world from her Father himself each night before going to bed and how every king and queens of the Humanes known before him helped in uniting the Humanes scattered around the globe, the great wars they fought, how they failed, learnt from it and never gave up until the very end as she listened she too was propped up to be part of their captivating stories.
To be called the protector not for the Humanes only but to the world, this is never a thing she'd turn down if she wasn't in this eerie situation she was presently. She could have smiled and happily accepted it without strain.
For this much was given to her—
Wren opened her eyes calmly glancing at the Black-furred Immortal's crystal eyes In front of her—
More would be expected from her.
"… I will. Follow."
"A very wise decision, Protector. The Immortals will never forget this day and it will be respected deeply from today onward."
The black-furred Immortal bowed.
"We pledge our allegiance to the Protector to abolish the sinful inhabitants who will rise and cloak this world in tribulation."
Then he telepathy spoke to the Two-faced Immortal.
"Come here, we are done."
"Oh, my wish is to be with an old friend even for a second longer but anyways alright." Suddenly the Two-faced Immortal appeared in red mist smirking near the Black-furred Immortal with a bow to the princess.
"Why did you lie?" Those sentences were telepathically asked in the mind of the Black-furred Immortal.
"I didn't." He answered back telepathically.
"What do you mean? You just said the regressor didn't spoke of how the protector will turned her home into the realm of death ice."
"…If I should tell her exactly the truth, it won't go as planned."
"A sacrifice of hundreds over billions is a bargain for the greater good and to we Immortals' gain, hmm, finally I like the way you think very pasaway~"
"... Let's go."
The Two-faced Immortal looked to the side of the King unmoved while levitating in the air without his flamingly white eyes off them.
"See you again, the King of the Humanes. We will take our leave along with your daughter. Sana all~" The Two-faced Immortal purred.
"I have something to say to my daughter." Randall stopped them in their tracks.
Wren looked to his father's eyes as his Father spoke those few words.
"Be strong, trust only yourself and your natural instincts, Songbird."
Wren nodded affirmatively with a light smirk and brimmed eyes.
Before long, the three disappeared without a trail.
Randall sighed sadly, noticed Jared from afar also levitating, Jared bowed his head to greet his King, Randall returned his greetings with his head lowered too.
Then he descended himself as Jared followed.
He landed, all the melting ice around him cracked then it shattered into dust not hurting anyone caused by his unseen potency.
He glanced at Jared.
"How bad is it?"
Jared was about answering him.
"Sorry. Don't tell me, I roughly got the numbers already from that Immortal. Now we need to treat the injured, bury the dead honorably and anyone who retaliate let them do so and allow them to vent their anger directly on me. I, physically will apologize to anyone who steps forward even before I generally apologize to everyone."
"…Alright my King. I will see to it that everything you've said will be carried out by your order."
"Thanks. I will be in my chamber. I possibly don't feel well over everything that happened so far."
"Where is She?!" Ezinne Caneloveft voice was clearly heard.
"... ..." Randall sighed deeply.
"Don't worry about the Godmother of the house of Caneloveft. I will calm her down too." Jared phrased with a bow.
Randall nodded, walked to the castle, along the way he refused escorts from the Royal Guards, his potency chattered every remnants of ice into nothingness around him as it spread all over the kingdom, helped those who needed help and consoled Luna once more about the death of her eldest sister. About walking the stairs leading to the large door of the palace.
Two Water Nymph guardians in their black loosen garment and on their heads a blue straw hat was worn suddenly appeared, kneeling at his front diligently.
"We greet, your highness, The King of the Humanes. The Queen of the deep wishes to see you."
Randall paused for a while, he remembered seeing those messengers' faces at the Forest Nymphs kingdom then he asked trying hard to hide his anger towards them.
"… And where is she?" Randall inquired.
"She said, you will know once you enter your palace." replied both of them.
Randall blinked then he looked at one of the large window at his top right of the castle which dimly lit up in aqua as he said to himself.
My… chamber...
