As the usual scenario every night, the over-powerful punches of Dayanara lands on the bare back of Loralai, as the latter enjoys the pleasure of feeling the pain all over. Punches over punches are unleashed and are intended to hurt the poor woman who is laying on the floor of her room. They just started, but Dayanara is already at her limit. She is tired but still lends some time to Loralai to give her the request she is asking every night. Dayanara doesn't really want to do it every night. She has gone tired of it. She is tired of doing it every night, at the same time tired of hurting Loralai. She has a conscience and it's whispering her to stop.
"More…" Loralai begged, half whispering as she savored the pain she is feeling. "Give me more…"
"This will be for tonight," Dayanara said as she lands the last punches Loralai will receive. "I'm tired. You should understand. And I'm tired of hurting you every night. Maybe this will be the last time I'm going to grant what you request."
"No…"
"That's final. I actually don't want to hurt you because you're just a kid. But you insist every time," Dayanara explained her side, not really wanting to do what she is doing. Despite being half unconscious, Loralai heard and understood what Dayanara said, and she was somehow shocked. She didn't know that Dayanara is holding back while hurting her. That's not what she expected at all. Loralai thought that her adoptive mother intends to really hurt her, but it turns out otherwise. "Please have pity on yourself. You might want to be hurt, but your body will give up every time soon."
Loralai didn't have the energy to answer, but at that point, she can feel the genuine worry her mother feels. But no, she knew better. Not all genuine feelings will stay the same as they are when time pass by. She knew that very well. Loralai might not experience something that includes the feelings of every person, but she understands what everyone can feel because she is also human. She knows that what everyone feels right now might change at any time. View of people, whether positive or negative, whether towards a person or a thing, once they saw the bad side of everything, their initial thought will be buried, and the thought that came up to their minds will live up their views for everything.
Loralai's view will never always be the same as others, but she can say that everyone has their own reasons for putting themselves in that perspective. But how reasonable might it be, just because they find it right, doesn't really mean it's correct. The definition of right and wrong will differ because they see things opposite to each other. Like how the villain and the heroine works, where the villain has principles, the hero wouldn't understand, because the hero was never in the shoes of the villain.
"Rest well," Dayanara walks towards the door but stopped mid-way as she remembers something. "Be sure to wake up early tomorrow and prepare yourself as quick as possible. Callum has been complaining about him being almost late every single day because of you. You might not want to anger him because he can be as worse as I am when I'm angry." With that, Dayanara took her exit and got her goodnight sleep.
After Loralai heard the sound of the door closing, she sat up and grab a hold of an unknown flash drive under her bed. She slid it in a flash drive outlet at the back of the laptop Acheros brought her. Tears started to pool her eyes as she stares and watch the video that is currently playing. Cries of pain and supplication can be heard from a woman in the middle of a plaza being tortured by the people there. Loralai can't help but sob as she, again, absorbs what she is watching. Loralai doesn't know what the woman did in the video to suffer such a fate, but the people are doing that to the woman.
Loralai cried and cried until the 3-minute video ended. She closed the laptop as her tears still fall down like waterfalls. She's been watching that video every night ever since she came. And however she looks at every possible reason, she can't think of anything that might put that woman in her situation in the video. And whatever perspective she places herself seems not to make sense at all. She tried placing herself to those people who are throwing hate at the woman. Different kinds of powers – from fire, nails, metal, glass, mud, rock, and water, etc., are thrown at the woman who clearly can't fight. It was unfair. How could even a person at the right-thinking do that to a helpless woman? Like, are they even sane?
After quite some time, Loralai composed herself and went to the bathroom, and did some business no one would know. The next day, Loralai woke up early, as her mother requested. This morning, she had the chance to join her 'family' to breakfast. Acheros was unbelievably stunned at the sight of Loralai descending from the staircase, fully clothed, and is more decent looking than she is from the past. While his son, Callum, is still in his home clothes and hasn't even taken a bath. Loralai stared at the television as the reporter delivered the news about a murder which often happens every morning.
Acheros and Dayanara have been worried. This can't be happening. The criminal should be caught immediately before things get even worse. If they are needed to participate just to find the culprit, then so be it, they are willing to help to any extent. They are also willing to pay just to find that murderer if needed. But the problem seems to go out of their reach. Even if they want to help, even if everybody comes together to find the murderer, their main problem is that they don't have a single clue who it is. It's like finding someone who doesn't even exist. Finding someone who doesn't want to be found.
