Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Thinking back I also couldn't remember anything about my family, or anything else related to my past. I'll look into that later but for now I have to focus on what's infront of us.

Looking out I saw Mark make it through the hole.

"Now", I said, "time wreak havoc"

"On it". I could almost hear the smile on his face. It seemed our classes maybe had more of an effect that I thought. I don't know how he was before, and he probably doesn't either, but based on normal humans he shouldn't be this excited, though I could be wrong.

It's the same for me. I don't know how I was before but based on normal standards I shouldn't be this calm. I'll keep this thought for later.

Over the speakers I could hear the sounds of things being smashed apart and the sparks of machines.

"We hit the jackpot and struck their engine room!", Mark exclaimed over the intercom.

"Destroy as much as you can and get out of there fast, we don't know how fast they'll respond and send people over to patch the hole". The sound of breaking was accompanied with blaring alarms and what sounded like someone banging on a door.

"I think they're breaking in so I'm going to head back to the ship", Mark said.

I looked out and saw a figure escaping the hole.

While flying over he said to me over the Intercom, "I think this berserker class is effecting me more than I thought".

"What do you mean?", I said

"It was like my body was telling me to wait for those guys to break in, to fight, to kill. As far as I know I don't think I have killed anyone. But it was like I was prepared and ready to do it."

I was silent for a moment. "Let's talk about this later, for now let's get you on some ground".

As Mark safely re-entered the ship, I directed Kaitlyn to the hatch room to help with any potential damage there. Oliver, having completed the suit upgrade, joined Mark back inside.

"System, how much time until the barrier expires?" I inquired.

"Approximately one minute," the robotic voice replied.

I made a quick decision. "Kaitlyn, Oliver, Mark return to the control room. We need to retract the barrier and prepare for any potential counter-attack. Mark, find a secure spot and strap in. We're going to engage the ship's engine and get out of here once the barrier drops."

The ship's interior echoed with the sounds of alarms and distant commotion. As Kaitlyn and Oliver rushed back they all secured themselves in a nearby seat.

I yelled, "System, deactivate the barrier and send all remaining power to the engines."

"Entering warp speed in 3.. 2.. 1.. Commencing".

I felt myself getting pressed against my seat while the scene outside changed to what seemed like a distorted tunnel. An image I had seen only seen in sci-fi movie in the past was happening right infront of my eyes.

Wait. The past? I tried to keep on that thought but I seemed to have came and gone and trying to better recall it seemed it give me a headache. Another thing to think about later. For now let me see how Mark is doing.

"Mark, how are you feeling?" I asked, concern in my voice.

"Physically fine, mentally… still processing," he responded, his expression a mix of confusion and contemplation.

As we exited warp speed, I turned to the group. "We've escaped the immediate threat, but we need to assess the situation. Mark, once you've gathered your thoughts, let's discuss what you experienced. Kaitlyn, Oliver, check the ship's systems for any damage. We'll regroup and plan our next move."

The uncertainty of our circumstances lingered, but the newfound abilities of our classes and the successful evasion of the pirate threat gave a glimmer of hope in the vastness of space.
