Chapter hundred and forty eight
Elixir knew her mother did not become the first female cardio-thoracic surgeon in the country by following the rules. If she wanted something she simply took it, no questions asked. It was the same reason Elixir's grandfather send her to school outside the country instead of her two brothers whom studied in the country. It was a feat in the early sixties but Merry-johanna achieved it at a young age.
Elixir stared at her mother as she peeled the back of an orange. She seemed nonchalant at her only child's plight. Elixir wanted to take the orange her mother was holding and fling it so far away, it would travel through time if there was such thing as time traveling.
"Mom, you are not saying anything" Elixir began "this is not right!"
She curled her fingers into a fist. She thought her mother would be outraged over her father's behavior but here she was peeling oranges and acting like Elixir wasn't going out of her mind.
