A mighty roar erupted through the air and a shadowy figure leapt out from nowhere. It collided with the black werewolf head-on, knocking it out of the way before it had the chance to lay its grubby little paws on me.
The black werewolf fell onto the floor and it tumbled like a ball several times before coming to a halt.
It laid there limply like a sack of potatoes.
I opened my eyes, and through the red haze I could make out a silvery-blue wolf figure standing gracefully in front of me, protecting me.
Even in my delirious state, I could tell who it was.
The brown werewolf went over to its partner in crime and nudged it several times as if to check if it was ok. Having realised that it was completely knocked out cold, it bared its teeth angrily at us, ready to fight.
The silvery-blue wolf glared at it through narrowed grey eyes and let out a deep menacing growl. The sound was like a clap of thunder sending chills straight down to the bone, reaching every part of its core.
The brown werewolf's eyes widened with terror upon realising who it was and it whimpered quietly. Slowly back away.
In an act to show its subordinance, it hung its head low and laid on the floor flat like a sheepskin pelt rug.
The silvery-blue wolf barked an order and like a soldier, the brown werewolf immediately scampered away with its tail between its legs.
Then the silvery-blue wolf turned to me, he looked at me for a moment before disappearing out of sight.
I remained in the corner and felt the tears coming. It was almost as if someone had lifted the floodgates. I sobbed for a good few minutes and using my sleeves, I started to wipe the blood off of my face.
Werewolves were like Vampires in some ways, they all have a blood lust. The smell of it was like ecstasy and it drove them wild. I had to get myself cleaned up quickly since there were probably hundreds of werewolves in the vicinity.
"Here." A clean white handkerchief appeared in front of me.
I looked up through the tears and felt my jaw drop in surprise. I thought he had already left? It seemed almost like a dream for him to stand there, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers.
I blinked a few times.
"Are you ok?" Aiden kneeled in front of me.
I nodded, too stunned to speak.
"Can you walk?" He asked.
"Yes..." I choked, feeling more tears welling up in my eyes.
"Let's get you cleaned up, here let me help you," Aiden said.
He placed one of my arms over his shoulder and with his other hand on my waist he gently pulled me up to my feet.
There's no denying it, even with him taken the majority of my body weight, my foot was still in absolute agony. What normally would've taken a few minutes to walk now took an eternity. Even a few steps were like the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest. I was breaking out into a cold sweat and it soaked through my shirt.
Aiden must've noticed my laboured breathing because he suddenly stopped.
"I'm ok, we can carry on, just give me a sec..." I started to explain.
Before I knew it, he placed one arm under my knee and lifted me off the floor. He was now carrying me in his arms!
Scared that he might drop me, I instinctively wrapped my arms tightly around his neck, my body stiff. I glanced down and assessed the distance, it was certainly a long way down.
As if reading my mind, he said, "Don't worry, you're not that heavy. I won't drop you."
I felt my face going red.
If I wasn't in some state, covered head to toe in blood, sweat and tears this might seem quite romantic. I tried to keep my body upright as much as possible to avoid getting blood on his shirt.
Gradually I began to relax and my eyelids felt heavy. His embrace was warm, I leaned my head against his chest and began drifting off to sleep.
I slept so soundly I barely felt any pain even as he cleaned the cuts on my face and ankle using antiseptic and gauzes.
In my dream, I was running along a white corridor. The overhead lights glaring.
My breathing was rapid and my pulse quickened.
"You can run but you can't hide you little mutt." Kendra's voice echoed in the hallway, then she cackled that crazy laugh of hers again. "Come out, come out where ever you are!"
I hid inside a stock cupboard, the shelves were full of medical supplies, medications, syringes, masks. I looked down my body and was surprised to see I was dressed in a hospital gown. Was I getting surgery or something?
The door opened and beneath the shelves, I could see two feet in red high heels moving slowly.
Holding my breath, I began to shuffle away towards the door.
"Oh, A-r-i-a-" Kendra said in a singsong voice. "I'm gonna get you, get you, get you!"
I turned around and there she was, her face covered in heavy make-up and bright red lipstick, just inches away from my face.
"Boo!" She said.
I screamed and woke up.
"Aria," a strong pair of hands held onto my arms. "It's ok, you were just having a bad dream."
My eyes adjusted to the dim light. I could see Aiden's handsome face looking at me with concern.
"Where am I?" I asked, looking at the unfamiliar surroundings. The distinct smell of antiseptic solution hung in the air.
"This is the doctor's office. There's no one here at the moment. I had to tidy up your wounds." He explained.
I could see white bandages around my ankle and touching the side of my face I could feel the outline of a very large plaster.
"Thanks." I said, getting up from the examination bed. "I have to get back to my room."
He nodded. All the students had to remain in their rooms during the full moon.
Putting my shoes on, I wondered was it just a dream that I had or was it one of my premonitions? I didn't know.
One thing I did know was that I didn't like the feel of this room one bit, it gave me the creeps.
