"Uhm... I- I'm sorry I can't read it. Can you just tell me what's written there? Sorry my eyes are quite blurry you know? I- I think I need glasses hmm." I pretended to scratch my eyes to convince him I didn't see it. My eyes widened when he suddenly took off his glasses and wore it to me.
"I'm sure you can read it now." He grinned, not convinced by my reason and also doesn't want to read it out loud.
"M- May you c- court me?" I looked away, feeling awkward. He grinned and leaned towards me. "I- I uh.. Sure?"
"What do you mean 'Sure?' is that a question or an answer huh?" He smiled again and raised his brows teasing.
"S- Sure!" I closed my eyes in embarrassment, I can feel my face heating again. How many times did I get red today?! I saw his face red too while looking away. Even his ears are red. Adorable. "But, you're my senior.." He furrowed his brows and tilted his head. "Isn't that going to be a big deal if we happen to be couples at the campus?"
He suddenly held my hand and squeezed it gently. "I'm sure we can make this work."
"Hey! Hey!" I took my hand away from his. "You're still courting! We're not a couple yet!" I can see him trying to prevent his laugh from going out. I narrowed my eyes at him, pursing my lips. "What are you laughing at?!"
"Nothing, nothing," He chuckled, shaking his head. "It's just that you're cute when mad." I pouted at him and he continued laughing. Why did I suddenly feel soft whenever I'm with him? People always tell me I'm edgy since my father died so how.. How did this happen?
I looked at my phone and saw that it was already late and it's past my curfew! "Hey, Javeon, I gotta go! My Mom's probably worried." He stopped sipping on his coffee and nodded. I waved my hands to him and to my Auntie from the counter. I walked out the door and my driver's already there. Phew!
I got home to the Mansion and my Mom was there, vexed. The helpers helped me put down my things. I just looked at my Mom and acted like I didn't see her and continued walking towards the stairs but she suddenly shouted at me. "Melantha Xera!" I fiercely turned to her direction. "Where have you been?!"
"Auntie's." I serenely answered and I was about to continue walking but she shouted again.
"I am talking to you, young lady!" I turned again to her and messed up my hair, annoyed. "Who were you with? You're Auntie said you were with a man!"
I scoffed. "Oh yeah? Did she also tell you that he was my study partner?"
My mom looked away but looked backed again with dark eyes. "Yes, and I do not care! He's still a boy! You and a boy in a café, in one table is just not good for our reputation! You're young!"
Fuck, I can't help it, my words are spitting itself from my mouth. I'm mad. "Bullshit! What part of the sentence 'He's my study partner' can't you understand?! Shut up 'coz you're the one who's not here when I need you and all you do when we see each other is shout nonsense at me?!" I quickly ran upstairs and locked myself on my room. I took a shower to relieve my stress and sleep. I was about to close my eyes when I heard someone knock at my door. I looked through the peephole and saw my mom. I opened the door, seeing her bring me milk. What the fuck is this? I'm not a baby. But still, I drank it and went to sleep.
After a week of school break, I woke up early because I expect Javeon to pick me up at 6 and he did. When I got in the car, I noticed him not wearing uniform so I was confused. "Why aren't you wearing your uniform?"
He smiled and furrowed his brows. "It's Foundation Day? We can wear whatever we want to wear." Oh gosh. That slipped out of my mind.
"Uhm.. Since it's still early-"
"You can go change, I'll wait here." I smiled at him and quickly went out the car and ran to my room. I pictured in my head what's his wearing: Black jeans, white dress shirt, folded sleeves up to his elbows, black belt, and a Rolex watch. Now, I've decided to match with it!
I wore my white oversized dress shirt, I pulled the neckline down to my shoulder so it'll be quite revealing, my black thigh high boots, black corset, silver watch and silver necklace. I fast walked to the car and saw Javeon there just watching anime. He suddenly paused it when he saw me.
"Oh, what a coincidence! We match colors!" He smiled and quite messed up his hair.
"Actually," I smiled proudly with my chin up. "It's not a coincidence, I purposely did match you a bit." I giggled.
He chuckled and grinned at me. "A bit huh?" He looked at me from head to toe. "Well, that's cute." Then, he drove. I felt my face heating. "Oh and, since it's Foundation Day at the school, there's no listing of attendance. What do you think of having a semi-date today?"
